LOGINA/N: Had this sitting in my drafts, I didn't want to include it at first so it wouldn't be like a filler.
Angel_2022, I hope you see this. Chapter 26-Keep Your Eyes on Me [The other version-Zenith’s POV] I walked out of the room and shut the door behind me with more force than necessary. The hallway felt too quiet, making the thoughts in my head a bit too loud. All I could still feel was the warmth of his body against mine, the way he had fit so easily in my arms when I carried him up from the garden, the way his fingers had briefly clutched at my shirt... like he didn’t want to let go. I couldn’t believe I had done that. I was not talking about the carrying itself. I believe leaving him on the ground in front of Zira would have been unacceptable. But what I couldn't believe was the way I had done it… without hesitation. I had simply held him, all the way back to his room like it was the most natural thing in the world. My jaw tightened as I began to walk away from his door. I lifted my right hand as I walked, noticing it was shaking slightly. Though it was barely noticeable, it enough to make something ugly twist in my chest. I stared at the faint tremor of my hanf for a second before curling my fingers into a tight fist, nails biting into my palm. Get a hold of yourself. I stopped briefly and closed my eyes, forcing a slow breath in through my nose. But right at the moment, everything just felt impossible. Because even taking a deep breathe proved difficult as the lingering trace of his scent still clung to my clothes I'm, soft and wrongfully comforting. It made my wolf insanely satisfied which only irritated me further. In my mind, this was temporary, moment of weakness caused by the bond and the sight of him hurt. Getting unsettled by an Omega dented my ego more than I would like to admit. Especially since the Omega was MY Omega. I opened my eyes again and continued walking, descending the grand staircase. By the time I reached the bottom of the stairs, my hand had stopped shaking, which I was extremely grateful for. I immediately spotted two servants passing by and called them over with a sharp gesture. “Prepare heated water and attend to Silas in his chambers,” I ordered. “He has a sprained ankle.” They bowed quickly and hurried away without question. I watched them disappear around the corner before turning on my heel. Next, was my hard headed brother, Zira. I marched straight back toward the garden, my irritation climbing higher with every step I took. When I walked through the entrance, he was still there, seated casually on the same stone bench as if nothing had happened, scrolling away on his phone. The moment he looked up and saw me, that familiar, infuriating smile spread across his face. “If it isn’t my possessive brother.” he taunted. Which I was completely used to, but I wasn't having it this time. “Don’t call me that.” “Okay.” He shrugged, completely unbothered. I exhaled sharply through my nose, barely keeping the annoyance in check. “I’m going to tell you this for the last time, Zira. Stay away from my mate.” He stood up slowly, matching my height. I could already notice the look in eyes sharpening. “Or what? I thought you didn’t want him. So why the hell are you acting like a possessive dog?” “What I want or don’t want is none of your damn business,” I said coldly. “And watch your tone with me.” “Your business in this palace is to do whatever the hell I tell you to,” I continued, stepping closer. “I sent you on an errand, and the first thing you do when you get back is coddle up to my mate.” Zira’s eyes narrowed. “The hell are you even saying? He was injured, right in front of me, Zenith. You expect me to just walk away?” “Yes,” I snapped. “I expect you to walk away.” He scoffed, shaking his head. “For someone who hates his mate, you sure do care a lot.” I said nothing. I refused to give them the satisfaction of showing how much his words sat uncomfortably under my skin. “Besides,” Zira went on, “Silas is my friend-” Friend? When the hell did that even happen? “-and the best thing I can do is be there for him. We weren’t doing anything wrong. I was just teaching him the basics of dancing, which you didn’t even-” “I’ll teach him myself.” The words came out sharper than I intended. I already said it before I even realized what I said. Zira stared at me for a second… then laughed. Actually laughed. The sound grated on every last nerve I had left. “You?” he said, still grinning. “You’ll teach him?” I held his gaze without flinching, even as something hot and possessive curled tighter in my gut. Yes, I would teach Silas the dance basics myself. Just the idea of Zira’s hands on him again, guiding his steps, making him laugh the way he had earlier, was unacceptable. It was a sight I did not want to see again. Deciding I had already given this conversation more attention than it deserved. I turned and walked out of the Garden without another word, leaving Zira standing there with that irritating smile still on his face. I had a dance to teach. And this time, it would be on my terms.Zenith's Pov Of all the Alphas who it could have been, it had to be him. He just made a very stupid mistake. He had already crossed a line once, he should have known better than to come anywhere near what belonged to me again. I looked at Kyle. “Which way?” Kyle pointed back down the corridor. “He ran when he saw me. I followed as far as could, but I lost him. I was just coming back to inform you when I met you here.” My hand on Silas’s arm could feel the tremor running through him, and I could almost taste the panic in his scent. “Are you hurt?” I asked, eyes glancing over him. Except for his distorted state and his roughed up clothes, he looked alright. But I still had to make sure. Silas shook his head quickly, then hesitated. “I–I stabbed him. With a knife, so I was able to get away.” Pride and fury hit at the same time. Though I wondered where Silas had gotten a knife, but it didn't matter. What I hoped was that he stabbed that bastard deep enough to damage something.
Silas's Pov It’s okay. It’s alright, Silas. You’re just overthinking. I told myself as I stood frozen in the corridor. We were probably just heading the same way. People ended up on the same path all the time at events like this; it did not have to mean anything. But then… who would be walking straight toward a dead end? Maybe it was not even the Alpha from the bathroom, it could have been someone else entirely. The footsteps had stopped, which meant whoever it was had stopped too. It should've been reassuring, but the silence only made my pulse louder in my ears. I closed my eyes, drew in a deep breath, and turned around slowly. Oh. It was him. It was him alright. The same Alpha from the bathroom stood only a short distance away, and the moment I faced him fully, his pheromones rolled out in thick, suffocating waves. The pressure hit me so hard I felt a headache press immediately at the back of my skull. My body stiffened under the force of it, but I wasn't affected by his ph
Silas's Pov Annoyance could not even begin to describe how I felt at the moment. We were in the car, already on our way to the mating ceremony of his Majesty's friend, who happened to be the Alpha of a pack in the West, a full hour’s drive from the palace. The length of the journey itself was not the problem, the problem was that His Majesty had been on a phone call for more than half of it. The moment we sat down in the car, his phone had rung, and he had been speaking ever since. I shifted slightly in my clothes, which I loved very much. All white, chosen by me after careful consideration. It was a clean, formal set, paired with white heels boots that had red bottoms, I'd forgotten what the servant that brought them called them. I had been too excited to wear them to hear any of the things the beta had said. It was my first time wearing heeled shoes, and every small movement made me more aware of them. According to what I had only recently learned, all white was expected of us
Zenith's Pov Silas kicked the sheets off for the seventh time this morning. I sighed, frustrated more at my own helplessness than at him. He lay tangled in the middle of the bed, sweating and shivering at the same time. According to Dr. Joana, when I had to call her when it got to a point, this was normal. Most Omegas came down with a mild fever after an intense heat. But even so, knowing that did not make it easier to watch. Three days. It's been three full days of heat and rut before either of us found the end of it. I had knotted him three times before the worst of it finally subsided. And now this. The sight of my Omega like this hurt more than I expected. It had started last night, not even twenty minutes after the third knot. One moment he had been quiet and exhausted in my arms; the next, he was shivering. I had made it worse by thinking a warm bath would help. The moment I got him out of the water, the shivering turned into heavy sweating. By morning, he had to
Silas's Pov My body shook from the immense pleasure coursing through me.I had never felt anything like this before, not even once. As an omega running mostly on suppressants, I had always refrained from touching myself, because an omega's intense smell of arousal can travel an unexpected distance. The pleasure had been so strong it wiped out every thought of fear and hesitation, every fear, every memory of pain. Just heat, fullness, and the overwhelming rush of finally reaching the peak my body had been begging for. I could already feel my heat simmering down. Though it still wasn't over, but for the moment, I felt at ease. Like something in me had finally been given what it needed, even if only for a moment. I lay there trying to catch my breath, weak and dazed, feeling his Majesty still close, still touching me. Then I heard his voice. “Are you alright?” I nodded slowly, since I could barely manage words. My throat felt dry, probably from all the screams that I now felt deep
Zenith's Pov The fabric parted under my hands, slipping farther down his arms and falling apart until there was nowhere left for modesty to hide. Every newly revealed inch of him tightened the coil of hunger in my gut. I forced myself to go carefully, peeling the robe away from his arms, then from beneath his body as I shifted him just enough to free it completely. “You’re beautiful,” I muttered, the words rough with the effort of restraint. “Look at you.” For a moment I managed patience, then it began to slip. The more of him I uncovered, the less steady my hands became. What started as deliberate undressing turned hungrier, less controlled, and before I knew it, I was dragging the clothing away from his body with urgency, until he was left bare beneath me on the sheets. The sight punched the air from my lungs. All that pale skin, the delicate lines of him. The vulnerable openness of an Omega already trembling under my gaze. His eyes were closed, pink buds erect as his chest
Silas POV One moment I was walking home in the rain, mourning a life lived in shadows, and the next, I was a traitor to the crown. It was a joke, it had to be. I was a nobody, like a ghost. How the hell could I ever be a spy? I leaned my head against the damp wall, trying to make sense of the nig
Silas POV “Silas, you need to listen to me,” Dr. Stephen said slowly, looking into my eyes like he was hoping I'd listen to everything that was about to come out of his mouth. I already knew where this was going. “Your system is under incredible strain. These suppressants….they aren't meant for
They shoved me through a heavy metal door into a stark white room. At first glance, it looked like a laboratory. Pristine white walls, harsh overhead lights that buzzed faintly, and a long metal table against one wall neatly arranged with vials of chemicals, syringes, wires, and strange metallic
Silas's Pov The first lash landed across my back like fire, and I screamed, curling into myself as the second lash followed. White-hot pain exploded across my spine, stealing the air from my lungs. The third lash, however, did not come. Through the haze of agony, I slowly opened my eyes and was s
