(Jasmine's POV)

"The nerve of him to ignore you like that!" Amy sparked angrily as she tried to go over to Jack, who was already walking away with Madelyn, but I stopped her from going to him.

Amy is a tomboy and always tends to act cute, but she could beat someone to a pulp if she wanted to.

"Why are you stopping me from teaching that jerk a lesson? He can't just kiss you and ghost you the next day like you're one of his bitchy girls!" Amy said, her voice etched with anger.

Although I was hurting, I still managed to defend him. "Maybe he didn't see me," I muttered, and Amy scoffed.

"Don't even think about defending that crush of yours, Jazz!" she snapped. "He didn't see you?" she repeated after me and scoffed again, then continued,

"Are you trying to tell the dumbest lie of the year? His eyes clearly met with yours, and he avoided you on purpose. And for what? To kiss Madelyn?" she chuckled, but in an angry way.

I didn't know what to say because I couldn't come up with one rea

  • The Lacrosse Player Next Door    Getting me confused

(Jasmine's POV) "You want to go to a sleepover party at Susan's house?" my parents asked at the same time, their expressions full of surprise. This was the first time I'd ever mentioned wanting to go to a sleepover, and I didn’t blame them for being shocked. They were already used to me being a homebody. "Callista invited me to a sleepover party," I replied. "And you agreed to go? You, of all people?" my dad asked, still sounding stunned. "You're not going over to Susan's house just because Jack is there, right?" my mom added, narrowing her eyes. "Jack? Who's Jack?" my dad asked, his eyes darting between my mom and me. "He's Susan's son. And he's definitely not a good boy," my mom answered flatly. "Why are you hanging out with a boy like that, honey?" my dad asked, and I was already starting to get annoyed by all their questions. Girls my age go to parties, and their parents don't bombard them with interrogations. But then again, I couldn't really blame mine. This wa

  • The Lacrosse Player Next Door    I love, you Jack

(Jasmine's POV) I fell onto the bed with a big smile on my face. I pressed my lips together as my smile widened. I just had my first kiss with the boy I love. I was so over the moon right now. I wanted to scream, jump, and dance to the beat of no music. His lips were so soft on mine. He tasted like fresh rain, like something pure and comforting that made my heart race and flutter at the same time. The way his hands lingered on my waist and earlobe replayed in my head, and I squealed excitedly, almost falling off the bed. Grinning from ear to ear, I tossed toward the panda bear that was lying on the bed with me. "Why did you kiss me, Jack?" I asked, directing the question to the panda bear. "Do you have feelings for me too? Is that why you kissed me?" I asked and shrieked, pressing the panda bear to my chest, my legs swinging in the air. Excitement was an understatement of how I feel right now. I was on cloud nine. "I love you, Jack," I exclaimed excitedly as I sprang u

  • The Lacrosse Player Next Door    Sudden kiss

(Jasmine's POV) Jack and I arrived at the arcade, and after we got out of the car, he held my hand, locking it with his. My face flushed red. "Shall we?" he said, and I nodded my head in delight. With his hand locked in mine, it felt like we were a couple. A couple—that sounds so fascinating. Trust me when I say I didn't want this moment to come to an end. I'll forever stare at my hand because Jack held it. His palm was soft on mine, sending butterflies tickling in my stomach. We entered the arcade. It wasn't crowded, but there were people about our age. "Have you been here before?" he asked, his thumb caressing my hand. I don't know if he did that on purpose, but whatever it was, I loved it. "No, I haven't. This is my first time here," I answered. "You don't go out?" "Going out isn't my thing. I prefer sticking with my bed." "But you are here with me," he said, and I bit my lip. I'm not the outgoing type, but I can be one a few times if that's what it'd take to spend time wi

  • The Lacrosse Player Next Door    Special someone

(Jasmine's POV) "Huh?" I muttered, feeling the nervousness building up in my stomach. Jack burst into laughter, his curly brown hair almost covering his eyes. I bite my lower lip a little bit, wondering what was funny. He won't possibly watch me get dressed, right? He stood up from the bed and walked over to me, almost towering with his height. He gave me a seductive smile that I almost fell for if not that I was strong enough to keep my cool. "Do you possibly think I'd watch you get dressed? I was joking. I'm not a saint, but I am not that bad," he said with a wink that almost made my knees wobble. "Meet me outside when you're done," he whispered, and he left my room through the same way he entered. I quickly hurried to my wardrobe to pick out a dress, but there was nothing interesting in my closet. I wasn't a fan of revealing clothes, because even if I had them in my closet, I would just be too ashamed to wear them. I picked out a tent gown and put it on. Sighing at myself in

  • The Lacrosse Player Next Door    Be his girlfriend

(Jasmine's POV) I had my headphones on as I listened to an online class my parents signed me up for. They claim it’d help me improve in my studies when I go to med school. It’s not like I find it interesting, but I have no choice because that’s what they want me to do. I love music a lot, and my biggest wish is to become a songwriter, but my parents will never allow me to go into that kind of life. Moreover, I’m just a shy, introverted girl, which is one of the main reasons why I don’t really focus on my dreams—because how can a shy girl like me become a songwriter? It’d definitely call for attention, and that’s not what I’m ready for. Although I do write songs during my leisure hours—songs I hide from everyone, including my best friend Amy. She doesn’t even know I want to become a songwriter. All she thinks is that I want to become a doctor like my parents because that’s what I made her believe. I yawned tiredly as I continued listening to the teacher through my screen. The clas
