Chapter 16

Three days in solitude.

Three. Days.

And the only people I had seen during that period was Maddison and Alice who came each morning and evening to get me changed.

And a serving girl at mealtimes to drop off food, who I found out this morning was named Nancy. Like the two sisters, Nancy barely looked in my direction, and quickly scuttled away as soon as she had dropped off the food.

I felt bored for the first time in my life. A feeling which I hated. I was much to used to being the keeper of my own time. Freedom was something that I had taken for granted until I now.  

I had already exhausted the collection of books that Alexander kept in the small wooden bookcase in the living area on the first floor. I had completely rearranged the furniture of the round room and then put it all back again out of sheer boredom. I had “accidentally” thrown the bear skin rug out of the window, purely because its glassy eyes and sharp teeth gave me the heeb
