Every day for the last three weeks I had been hauled up in the council rooms, trying to come up with a war plan.

It had been a long and arduous process. One that at some points I thought was fruitless.

But for all the blows we had received thus far, there was a shining light of hope. The scouting mission to the south had been a success, and our men had found a way through to the south coast. With the southern routes open, it meant that there was no place for an ambush. But at the same time, it left us completely open to William knowing what we were up too.
