CHAPTER 9

Fiarra's pov

The tiny cold droplets of water poured over me from the dark-clouded sky, as I stood in the middle of a stranded road, waiting for Onyx to come back to me.

Maybe I was wrong, but my intentions were right. I knew that I was playing with the fire when I left the pack in search of my mate to this human world, but it burned me when he did not accept me as his mate.

He did not reject me either, but there is nothing else to say about the mate bond. Did the goddess curse me for not following my mother’s path? Or I am boycotted because I chose to be a warrior instead of a breeder?

As I stood in the rain, drenched completely from head to toe, my senses woke up. I have to go back to the place I rented to stay here. As soon as I entered, I threw myself in the arms of my disgrace. I turned the shower to hot to break down the freezing nerves from my body.

I wasn’t feeling hungry, so I skipped the dinner. I have lost my appetite already.

The flashbacks of today’s incident are fresh in my mind. Why the hell did I provoke him? I know that he is my mate and i don’t have to prove it but I wanted to be loved, but I get hate in return.

I did not realise when my eyes started pouring with the rain.

It's all my fault. I was trying to make him a little jealous, but I set the entire house on fire. His eyes glowed dark golden and it scared me to the bones, though I did not show him that my feet were shaking, but inside I was dead.

The biggest mistake that I have made. I have to fix things before I lose them. I went to sleep after that because I have lost my ability to think straight.

I woke early before dawn and I shifted to run, to catch the mesmerising view of the sun shining out from the darkness. Maybe the sun will bring a ray of hope in my day. I inhaled the fresh, delighted smell of the soil and wild that reminds me of home.

After a long run, i went back to the place I Am residing. I took a shower so I won't smell like dirt. I changed into jeans and a flared top, and then I headed to the college.

The humans are nothing to compare with wolves. They are selfish and look for their benefits instead of helping others. They are judgemental, without brooding over anything or anyone, they judge. I can see the judgement passing through one eye to another as I cross the barrier. Lack of unity. They all wanted to live alone in their own little world that led them to the distance between their bloods. They like to fake things to please or look superior in other’s eyes.

But, some are completely different, like the girl with Onyx. i don’t remember her name but I Am sure she looks at me with equal, like others. I went to the class and attended the lecture but saw no sight of Onyx in the class. This troubled me more.

The entire day went and it was exhausting, to be true, i was missing his crazy ass. Though we hardly share any relation but i know that i love him.

I have to see him before things fall apart. I was lost in the thoughts when I bumped into someone and I apologized immediately.

“I am sorry! It’s my fault, it distracted me.”

“So, you finally admit you were wrong.” the stern voice echoed in my ear canal.

I look up straight to meet a light brown-eyed girl.

“You are Onyx’s friend, right?” I smiled at her, but she remained expressionless.

“I am Martha Ryes.” She introduced herself to me.

“I am Fiarra.”

“You have a pretty name, just like you.” she complimented me.

“I blushed, “thank you.”

“Why was Onyx not here to attend the lecture?” I asked her.

“You don’t know? They suspend him for a week.” there was aggression in her voice but she handled it smoothly.

“I had no idea!” I whispered.

“You are the only one who is behind all this. I don’t blame others until proven guilty, but you are unbelievable.” her words are sharper than the mightiest claws.

“I never wanted anything like that to happen. I was ..” I tried to explain, but she cut me.

“Why are you following him?” there was a hint of jealousy. Maybe she likes him.

“Is there any problem” I eyed her.

“He is my friend and all these years, no one wanted to be his friend beside me and ben. What you found special in him? Girls like you belong to a popular community, not with geeks like us.”

Her words told me the obstacles they faced all the years, “you should never judge a book by its cover. I am his ma..” i remembered that i can’t spill the beans in front of a naïve human.

“I am his fan, from the quiz competition, last year.” I stutter while answering.

“There was no quiz competition last year. What are you exactly trying to say?”

There is no way I can fool her, “i love Onyx. I am madly in love with him. We are destined to be together.” I started and Martha glared at me for a while until she burst into laughing.

“Impossible! I don’t believe your story.” she sneered.

“Martha! Do you love him?” I asked straight away.

“It’s none of your business.” she diverted the topic, “i asked you something.

“Answer me.” i purposely glowed my eyes and i can smell the fear erupting from her insides.

“What are you??” she looked shocked, but the reality is still going to be clearer.

“I am his mate. I am Onyx’s mate. Like the other half and I am here for him. I came from a place which is far away from any civilization. Please, try to understand me. I need your help.” I begged her.

“Why should I help you when you landed my friend in a troublesome situation?” she hissed.

“I know what i did was wrong, but that's not my intention. I just wanted to make him feel jealous, but it turned the tables on me.” i explained.

Martha shocked her head and turned to leave but I clasped her wrist and dragged her to a stranded backyard of the college premises.

“How dare you to do something like that to me?” she yelled.

“I am not an ordinary human, Martha! I am a supernatural creature, and so is Onyx. we are bonded together by the moon goddess. No one can come between us but I need your help to save my love.”

“I want to know what kind of drug you are taking because i have seen no one this high in my life.” she replied sarcastically.

I glowed my eyes again, and she stepped back in fear. “I guess this hint is enough because you won’t be able to handle what will come next.”

“What are you?”

“I am a she-wolf, a werewolf.”
