Chapter 16: The Awakening

Athena's POV:

Present time...

"Her heart rate and blood pressure are increasing," a distressed female voice remarked. "She's having a seizure," she explained further.

"What is happening to me? I can hear them, but I can't move my body, and I can't open my eyes." I tried to respond and let them know that I was alive, but my body was not cooperating with my mind.

"Nurse, hold her arms and legs. Keep her steady," a male voice said, giving instruction. He's got to be the doctor. "Get the defibrillator. She is experiencing a cardiac arrest," he said in a commanding tone.

"What is going on with her?" Junior sounded so sad and worried. "Don't let her die no matter what," he pleaded with them.

I never had someone who cared for me like that before. He sounded so sincere and truthful.

"Sir, are you related to the patient? Only family members are permitted in this area," the nurse told Junior, asking him to leave.
