Chapter 7 | Alone
Marinette
After I fed Marigold, she fell asleep, and I placed her in the bassinet so I could get a little nap too. I am absolutely drained from the events of today, but looking at her, I’d do it all again. But I can't help the pain in my heart knowing that right now it is truly just the two of us.
She doesn't have a father. His parents shunned me when they found out I was pregnant, so she doesn't have them as grandparents. My dad doesn't think I'm his kid, so she doesn't have him either! My lip quivers at the thought of how alone we are.
I lie my head back and fall I into a hard sleep and only woke up from Marigold crying and I fed her and put her back down.
This happened on and off throughout the night until I woke up to Nurse Evelyn walking into my room. She looks at me with a smile and asks, “How are my two favorite girls doing?”
