Chapter Fifty-Five

Kellan’s POV

“Is there a problem?” Beta Tobias inquired.

“Not at all.” I responded almost immediately.

It must have been obvious that I had something on my mind. I remained seated on the throne because I wasn’t ready to go back to my room, Kaida and I’s room technically.

Things were becoming more difficult than I thought, and it wasn’t good for me. I believed it would be easy to ignore what Kaida and I shared, but I was wrong.

I saw her everywhere. When I closed my eyes, when I slept, and even when I looked at other women, her image lingered.

The mate bond wasn’t going easy on me, and I might have made it worse by allowing her to share a room with me. It had been more than a week since I started waking up to her face.

“The foreign investors will be here anytime from now,” Beta Tobias reminded me. I had completely forgotten about them.

“Do you have all the documents ready?”

“Yes.” His tone was steady.

Kaida and I had even slept together, and I never saw it coming. I

Chapter Seventy-nineKaida’s POV“You’re indeed a werewolf.”She looked into my eyes while telling me, and that was to tell me that she told the truth. I wasn’t so shocked to hear her say that, it was as though I saw it coming.Beta Tobias, Selene, and Alpha Kellan were right all this while. They must have seen the signs because the signs would have been so obvious to them.“I’m your grandparents’ best friend, they made me promise to watch over you, and I think I did just that.”Tears rolled down my eyes as I got emotional. My family must have died a cruel death, all thanks to their killer. The killer didn’t think to spare my grandparents or even my parents.I read a lot of books about werewolves in the past to know that each werewolf belonged to a unique bloodline. I had come to terms with the fact that I was a werewolf.“I need to know about my bloodline,” I demanded.Alpha Kellan asked me about it while I was in his pack, but I couldn’t provide an answer to his question. I didn’t b

Chapter Seventy-eightKaida’s POV“I came for payment. What else do you want to know aside from that?” he raised his voice at me.He had begun to show me the stuff he was made of. I knew that he wasn’t a calm werewolf, but my alleged grandmother didn’t know that. Our eyes locked for more than a minute. Even though he had intimidating eyes, I wasn’t scared of him or what he would do to me.“He brought his guards because he assumed I would go with him,” I told the voice in my head. It was after I did that I recalled it no longer existed. He even said something about us not belonging here. I wasn’t sure about him, but I belonged here and didn’t intend to leave for a werewolf pack.My alleged grandmother’s silence might have meant that she was in support of all this. If that was the case, I would rather she said it to my face so it would register in my head.“Do you want me to leave your house?” I asked her. I wasn’t doing too much; I only wanted a yes or no answer.I stood to my feet and

Chapter Seventy-sevenKaida’s POVAlpha Luca was here again. He showed up just when I thought he would never show up again. This time, he did with a lot of guards, and I couldn’t comprehend why.“We might end up doing this for the rest of the day.”It had been minutes since he showed up, and he still was refusing to speak. Silence had taken over, and this time, it wasn’t golden. I needed him to start speaking. My alleged grandmother looked straight in front of her, and she was also refusing to speak. I believed she had no words to say, hence her silence.‘I hoped Fred didn’t do anything silly to himself.’Just like that, I broke up with my boyfriend of two years. I knew it was over the moment I looked into his eyeballs and felt nothing. I was only hoping my mind didn’t belong elsewhere. It was safe to say that I had a love-hate relationship with Alpha Kellan. I hated that he led me on and didn’t find me worthy of being in his world, but at the same time, he remained in my head. After

Chapter Seventy-sixKaida’s POV“He promised to come back. Let us just wait for him. He has all the answers to your questions.”The one time I summoned the courage to ask my alleged grandmother questions, that was all she had to say to me.Ever since I found out the truth about myself, I had not been able to face her or even speak to her. She had also been avoiding me in the house. The last time Alpha Luca was here, he wanted to talk to me about what he wanted from me, but he could not for a reason known to him. He left just as he was about to speak. There were so many things I did not know about myself, and I could not wait for Alpha Luca to show up again. The last time he was here was two days ago, and I could not be sure it had been his first visit.“Should I go into her room to ask her questions again? Maybe she will have a response for me this time.”That question of mine was for the voice in my head to answer, also my so-called wolf and my other half. I knew I had wanted it to s

Chapter Seventy-fiveKellan’s POVFor the umpteenth time within the space of a few minutes, I rolled from one end of the bed to another.Kaida’s disappearance had me reminiscing and I just could not stop. I wanted to figure out where I went wrong. She could not have left for no good reason. It had been more than twenty four hours since she left, and she was yet to return. I had assumed she would come back to the mansion of her own free will, but I was wrong.“Do you think I made the right decision?” I asked Roman. I had not wanted to, but I just had to.“You were doing what you thought was right,” he replied.I sat up. The fact that Kaida and I used to share the bed made things even more difficult for me. The room felt so empty without her.The bewitching hour was already here, but I was still finding it hard to close my eyes for even a few minutes, talk less of falling asleep.I had instructed Beta Tobias, the head of security, and the guards not to go in search of Kaida. I thought i

Chapter Seventy-FourKaida’s POV“We should take a seat. What do you both think?” Grandmother eventually broke the silence. The strange man had mentioned his name earlier, but I couldn’t recall what it was. It could be because I wasn’t paying attention to his words, but to him.My grandmother walked past me and sat on the couch in the living room. That wasn’t the reaction I had pictured. She didn’t ask where I was coming from or how I had been all this while. Could it be that she had disowned me already because I disobeyed her?He did the same and sat back in the living room. Reluctantly, I joined them, waiting impatiently for the silence to end.I must say that my grandmother looked good. She had added weight, and I didn’t see that coming. I had assumed my disappearance would make her look like a skeleton. That was a sign that she had been feeding well and sleeping fine too. I didn’t sit next to her or the strange man for no good reason.“I’m Luca. Alpha Luca,” he said, breaking the
