Chapter 1

Xavier Pov

"Do you want to go on a date with me?" Amelia asked me.

I choked on my coke. From the corner of my eye, I saw Cole pointing out three fingers. He was indicating that Amelia was the third girl to ask me out this week.

I was eating my lunch with Cole, my beta when Amelia came to join us at our table. With a small face, shoulder-length hair and a curvy body, she looked gorgeous. Every boy of our high school wanted to date her including me.

"Umm...Xavier" She said again leaning forward. I slightly leaned backwards because her face was too close to me. Cole nudged me and I realized, I still hadn't answered her.

"No, I don't date."

"Or more likely you can't date." Cole mind linked me. I sent a nasty glare at him.

A mixed expression of shock and anger crossed her face. She definitely wasn't expecting to be rejected.

She slowly leaned more and whispered in my ears seductively "How about spending some quality time together" then she winked at me making me roll my eyes. Cole coughed beside me. Surely, he heard everything because of his super hearing.

"Amelia, leave me alone" I stated nonchalantly, my voice came out harsher than I intended it to be.

Don't get me wrong! I was very tempted to accept her offer but I didn't because of a number of reasons. First, it would be a shame to lose my virginity to a bitch. Second, I was saving myself for the women I would fall in love with and the third reason, I was...

"Engaged" Cole's voice interrupted me, "Xavier is engaged. Look at his engagement ring" He said grabbing my hand and flashing my engagement ring to everyone. I was annoyed and angry. Amelia and all her follower/ friends, who were standing beside her, were surprised. They were staring intently at me. Feeling annoyed, I abruptly stood up and exited the cafeteria.

Green High was the closest school to our pack. So all werewolf of Royal moon pack went to green high for education. It was certainly risky to attend the same school as humans. However, most unmated wolves found their chosen mate from here in school. Thus, it was worth it to take the risk.

I stopped walking when I heard footsteps behind me. When I turned, I saw my beta, Cole and Coden, my gamma, were standing there. They were also my best friends.

"You are engaged, Congratulation." Coden spoke, amusement was dancing in his eyes.

"Stop, I am not engaged," I shouted but that was a lie. Yesterday my father just barged into my room and forced me to wear this ring. Then he informed me I was engaged. After that, I had a long argument with my father. Needless to say, I didn't win the argument.

I hadn't met or talked with her. I didn't know how she looks like. Heck! I didn't even know her name. It wouldn't be wrong to say I was engaged to a stranger.

"So, why are you wearing an engagement ring?" Coden asked looking perplexed. I ignored him because I didn't have an answer to his question. I looked at my fingers- a simple golden ring without any stone. It also had a wolf engraved in it.

"His father made him wear that. He is officially engaged with 'the girl.'" Cole said while air quoting the girl part. I was getting very annoyed.

"The same girl he was spoken for," Coden said mimicking Cole. They were talking about me like I wasn't here. My father had fixed my marriage with his friend's daughter when I was only 6 months old. The girl, whose name I didn't even know, was only 2 months old at that time. Sick!

"Who is your fiancée, Alpha," Coden asked me. He knew very well that I didn't know my fiancée yet he was teasing me. I was the future Alpha, so I didn't like anyone disrespecting me. I groaned in a warning. He shivered in fear and apologized quickly. The bell rang and I went to my class.

...............................................................................................

I was sitting on the last bench. Cole was sitting at my left while the right sit was vacant. English was my favourite class because Sara, my crush, was in this class too. It started one year ago when I saw her for the first time at the school gate. She was talking with her friend, Amelia. Even though, Amelia is her friend she was nothing like that bitch.

Sara was gorgeous and her laughter was the most attractive thing about her. I wanted to date her and make her my Luna but sadly I couldn't. We were only friends though and only talked about random things. She did flirt with me often but I mostly ignored her. I certainly didn't want to give her false hope. Suddenly her scent hit me as Sara came and sat beside me.

"Hi Xavier, Hi Cole," She said.

"Hi Sara, did you completed English essay?" I asked.

"Yes, did you completed your essay?" She asked me.

"No, I forgot to do it," I replied looking at her eyes. Her eyes were beautiful but it always looked lifeless to me.

"I knew you would forget so I did extra for you too. Here take it" She gave me a notebook. I smiled at her sweet gesture. I extended my left hand to take the notebook that's when I heard her gasp. I looked at her. She had her gaze fixed at my...ring. Oh no!

"I heard you are engaged but I thought it was only a rumour. I guess it's true." Her voice was low indicating she was hurt. I only nodded in reply to avoid awkwardness. We didn't talk anymore in the entire class. As soon as the bell rang, I ran outside the school, straight toward the forest that surrounded our school. I was sad and frustrated. My head was aching from all the stress. She liked me and I liked her too but I couldn't peruse her. On top of that, I was engaged to a stranger.

Exciting start to the story, I feel sad for Luna’s parents for the pressure they must be under with Luna being the only she-wolf & for her having to hide & not live a normal life. I hope Xavier doesn’t end up hurting Luna by doing something stupid because he wants Sara! Fantastic chapter
