Caius's POV

I shouldn't have been living. The traitor's blood magic should have killed me. Black poison had spread through my blood, reaching for my heart.

But royal vampire blood doesn't surrender easy.

I staggered through the forest, putting space between myself and the others. The poison still burned in my system, but I had managed to slow it by drinking from a dead Syndicate soldier during the chaos. Not enough to heal—just enough to live.

Now I needed more blood. Royal blood.

The night was silent around me as I moved like a ghost between trees. My senses, dulled by poison, still picked up the faint metallic scent I was looking for. Blood. Vampire blood.

I had sent a message to my loyal court members days ago, asking them to meet me near the Crystal Falls. Elara had confirmed they were coming—five of my most trusted vampires, bringing supplies and knowledge. They should have reached the outer woods by now.

The smell grew stronger. I mov

Ronan's POVI couldn't look away from her eyes. Those weren't Sienna's eyes anymore—not the warm ruby red I'd fallen in love with. They glowed with a strange purple-red light that sent chills down my spine."Get back," I warned, pushing Kieran away as Sienna growled at us. "She's not herself."My heart pounded as I watched her squat like a wild animal, her fingers digging into the dirt. The Trial of Power had changed her, and now Kieran's blood rage curse was taking over. She looked ready to tear us apart."Sienna," I said softly, holding out my hand. "It's me. It's Ronan."For a second, something sparked in those strange eyes—a hint of recognition. Then it was gone, replaced by that terrible hunger Caius had mentioned.Suddenly, a sharp pain shot through my chest, making me gasp. It wasn't physical—it was deeper. Something inside me was pulling toward Sienna, like an invisible rope linking us."The bond," I whispered, remembering bits of a

Caius's POVI returned to the Ruby Ruins just as the moon rose. The sky still glowed an unnatural red, like blood spilled across the clouds. Everything had changed in the few hours I'd been gone. I could smell it in the air—power, fear, and something else. Something dangerous. As I stepped into the opening, I saw them—Sienna lying unconscious on the ground with Ronan and Kieran beside her. The Midnight Queen and her forces had fled after their surprise attack, but I knew they wouldn't stay away for long."I see I missed all the excitement," I said, my voice cutting through the tight silence.Kieran's head snapped up, his eyes flashing not with their usual golden glow, but with normal human eyes. Interesting."Where's Zeke?" he asked."Safe," I answered, moving closer. "I've hidden him in an ancient vampire sanctuary. The Queen's magic can't reach him there."Relief crossed Ronan's face. "Is he still... himself?""More or less," I said w

Kieran's POVI couldn't stop moving. Each step I took around the ancient Ruby Ruins felt like pain. It had been four hours since Sienna walked through that tunnel, and every minute felt like a year."Would you stop that?" Ronan growled, his silver eyes tracking my moves. "You're making me nervous."I shot him a look that would have made most dogs run for cover. "Good. You should be nervous."The morning had turned to afternoon, and now the sun was starting to set. The red stones of the ruins glowed brighter as darkness crept in, making the whole place look like it was on fire."What happens if she doesn't come back?" I asked, stopping to stare at the arch. Sienna had disappeared the moment she stepped through it, like she'd walked into another world.Caius, who had been sitting silently on one of the broken pillars, finally spoke. "She'll come back. The question is whether she'll be the same person when she does."Those words made my dog ho

  • The Last Ruby Wolf - Live as a Queen or Die as a Monster   The Third Trial

Sienna's POVMy heart wouldn't stop beating as we finally reached the clearing. Three days had passed since Zeke sacrificed himself, running into the darkness to protect me from our mother's control. Three days of dreams, worry, and tears."Is this it?" I asked, looking at the old stone ruins ahead. The morning sun made the stones glow red, like they were covered in blood.Ronan nodded, his silver eyes searching the area. "The Moonstone Forest ends here. These are the Ruby Ruins."I walked closer, feeling something pull me toward the broken stones. The ruins weren't big—just a circle of broken pillars with weird marks. But in the middle stood a tall tower made of red stone that seemed to shine from within."Ruby Wolf symbols," Kieran said, referring to the strange marks carved into the stones. "Your family built this place thousands of years ago."I touched one of the symbols—a wolf with a ruby eye—and felt a shock run through my body. The symb

Zeke's POVPain. That's all I felt as we ran through the dark tube. Each step sent fire through my body. The First Wolf—my father—had nearly torn me in half. Only Isolde's magic had saved me.But that magic was disappearing fast."Stop," I gasped, falling against the rocky wall. "I can't go any further."Sienna was at my side in an instant, her hands sparkling with new power—Isolde's final gift."Zeke, hold on," she begged, putting her glowing hands to my wounds. The blood slowed, but the pain didn't stop. Something was wrong inside me. I could feel it—a fight between the different kinds of magic in my blood."The experimental serum," I whispered, remembering the shots the Midnight Syndicate had given me since childhood. "It's fighting Isolde's magic."Caius emerged beside us, his red eyes studying me with a cold, calculating look."He's dying," the vampire prince said frankly. "The witch's magic is fading, and without it, his wound

  • The Last Ruby Wolf - Live as a Queen or Die as a Monster   Witch's Sacrifice

Isolde's POVI felt the dark power before I saw it. Like oil spreading through water, the Midnight Queen's spell tainted the air around the temple. From my hiding place behind a stone pillar, I watched in fear as the First Wolf's eyes turned black and he lunged for Zeke.No one had noticed me yet. That was good. I had been following them since they entered the mountain pass, staying hidden in the dark, waiting for the right moment."Not like this," I whispered, holding my staff. "Not after everything I've done to protect them."Sienna's fire erupted in a frantic attempt to save her brother, but it was too late. The huge wolf had Zeke in his jaws. Blood spilled across the stone floor.I moved without thinking. My hands flew through the air, drawing old symbols that glowed blue against the night. Words of power spilled from my lips—not the dark magic the Midnight Syndicate had taught me, but the pure magic of my ancestors."Protego Maxima!" I yel
