Mercedes stayed locked away in her room. Everyone was worried about her and her well-being. The only one she allowed close to her was Crystal. Even so, she didn't open up about her problem. She kept silent, and she even blocked out her wolf. She was consumed with guilt and regret. She even thought about running away and back to the human realm to report the crime she committed. She convinced herself that it was the right thing and what she deserved.

Felix was anguished by the distance she put between them. He didn't understand what to do or how to reach out to her. His wolf Roland was comforting him for the first time. He tried convincing him that it was not their fault, and they should give her some space until she comes around and lets them in. That was very difficult because now that he knew that she was his mate, the pull was too strong.

Alexa had the letter that Mercedes left in her hands. She opened the letter to read it. " By the time you read this letter, I will be long gone. I'm going to find my son. I know that I'm not doing the right thing and I am probably falling for a trap but it doesn't matter to me. Right now, Horace is the one who matters the most to me and if there is a way that I can get to him, I will take it. Don't try to look for me. If you do, Horace will be in danger. No tricks allowed. If you do anything that I didn't tell you then you will never see your son alive again. The next time you ever lay your eyes on him he will be nothing but a lifeless corpse.
