INSIDE THE COURTROOM…

"Are you saying that Mariano Marasigan, a widow at 68, childless, and your eldest brother… Signed the deed of transfer of the title of his properties to you, Bernardo Marasigan?" Wayne asked the defendant formally.

"Yes. I didn't force him. He took the initiative to sign it."

"But according to my client, he doesn't remember any document he signed on the twenty-seventh of August… Exactly at nine o'clock in the evening, as you mentioned."

"I don't know why he doesn't remember anything. Maybe he suddenly changed his mind. Besides, he's old. He has forgotten many things. Maybe he thought there was no one else to leave his properties to but me; I'm his only sibling. Then he suddenly changed his mind. Nonsense! He was just wasting my time here!"

Wayne nodded when he faced his client, who was at his table; the disgust on his face was evident when he heard his brother's fabricated story.
