A purple symbol

Carol nodded and said to her that here the white flame represented the light, and that the 3 flames she didn’t know were the black one for the darkness, the purple one for the metal and the last one was silver and represented the lightning.

She told her that the greater her reserve of energy would be, the more able she would be to master flames other than the one of fire and light, and that if she had to forge a weapon for the golden dragon, then she would absolutely have to master the purple flame.

Cassy nodded and was about to ask her more questions when the three of them were interrupted by the arrival of Carol's husband, Glen, and Paige's brother, Adrian, who was accompanied by his best friend Steven.

Adrian looked a lot like his mother and sister, but he had his father's build. He had short, curly blond hair, bright green eyes, and a pleasant looking face that made you want to befriend him right away.

Glen, who was Carol's husband and the strongest of them all, immediately sensed that there was something strange about this girl who was sitting in their living room and who seemed to get along well with his wife and daughter.

He was tall and had a muscular body and unlike the other members of his family he had short black hair, hazel eyes and sharp-featured.

And Cassy who was a very sensitive person had also felt Glen's powerful aura, and it was as if his aura was saying 'don't try to mess with me or you'll regret it', which must have suited him perfectly because Paige had told her that he was one of the best worrior instructors at the Academy of Catara.

As for Steven, curiously he looked more like Glen than his own son, he too was built like a Greek God of the legends of her world.

He had short black hair, he was hansome and he had a mysterious gaze that would have allowed him to be a model without any problem in her world.

But that wasn't what attracted her the most about him, this mysterious young man who must have been just 20 years old hadn’t taken his eyes off her since he had entered the room and his eyes were a color she had never seen before. They were the same color as her favorite semi-precious stones, amethysts.

These stones represented wisdom and peace, they were used to protect against negative energies and to fight against anxiety, fear and anger, and whenever she felt alone and distressed by her powers, she had the habit to take an amethyst stone in her hand, which she always kept on her bedside table, and looked at it until she felt better.

Carol, after making the introductions, didn't seem to realize that these two were staring at each other more than what was necessary, and even if she had noticed it, she would have imputed it to curiosity.

She then told the boys to settle down and get to know Cassy because she had to talk to her husband. Cassy's case was really unique and she didn't know if she could talk about it in front of them.

Cassy, once Carol and Glen had left to probably talk about her, focused on the boys and she saw a white aura around them that was brighter around Steven than Adrian.

She wondered if this represented their level difference and suddenly, when she focused more on Steven she saw something purple appear on his wrist.

Cassy, who had let Paige tell the story of how they met, saw that the boys were looking at her shocked by her story so she said to them, "Forget it, I'm never going back there anyway."

She looked more specifically at Adrian as she said to him, "Your mom offered to take me in and I guess she's talking to your father about it right now."

Adrian really didn't know how to react to Cassy, her story was pretty horrible and it didn't surprise him that her mother had offered to take her in so he asked her, "What are you going to do then if you don't want to go back to your village?"

Cassy smiled at him and then she winked at Paige before saying, "I'm going to become a mage and I'm going to get into the same Academy as the both of you."

Steven then spoke for the first time and he had a deep, magnetic voice that fit him perfectly and she couldn't stop her heartbeat from quickening, "You sound very confident Cassy, but not all mages can enter the Academy of Catara."

He had told her this not to discourage her but so that she wouldn't be too disappointed if she didn't make it, and Cassy surprisingly smiled at him and she then asked him her eyes full of curiosity, "What do you have on your right wrist?"

Steven didn't know why she was suddenly asking him this question but he showed her the mark that everyone who belonged to the dragon clan had, he explained to her that it was like a birthmark.

Cassy then frowned and she stood up to approched him to examine his mark more closely, she could see the dragon tattoo that went around his wrist and seemed to be done in green ink, but she kept seeing this strange purple symbol that was superimposed with his tattoo and she then asked him even if she already suspected the answer, "Do you know that there is a purple colored symbol superimposed with your birthmark?"

Steven and Adrian looked at her in astonishment and Paige then asked her, "Cassy, can you draw the symbol you see on his wrist?"

Cassy nodded and Paige immediately brought her a pen and paper and she began to draw the symbol she was seeing on Steven's wrist on the coffee table.

Paige then exclaimed when she had finished drawing it, "Damn, it's a seal, wait for me I'll be right back."

She took the paper from Cassy’s hand and she quickly disappeared down the hallway that Carol and Glen had taken earlier.

Steven frowned and he asked her while Cassy was still looking in the direction Paige had gone, "Can you really see that symbol on my wrist?"

Cassy looked back at him and said, "Yes, I really can see it, it's right there."

When Cassy touched the symbol out of curiosity she was violently thrown across the room and she barely had time to create a fire shield in front of her before she crashed into the wall.

Fortunately she had excellent reflexes and wasn’t injured, her fire shield having completely absorbed the shock and having allowed her to break her fall.

When she got up and made her fire shield disappear with only a wave of her hand, she saw the stunned look on the boys' faces.
