When the ambulance arrived, both Alicia and Eleanor were in a coma. Paramedics carefully extracted them from the warped car and quickly transported them to the nearest hospital.
In the hospital, Eleanor woke up earlier. Despite the pain all over her body, she insisted on visiting her daughter. With the doctor's persuasion, she reluctantly agreed to undergo the necessary tests and treatment first.
"Mrs Stewart, your injuries are not serious, but you need to rest," the attending doctor said seriously, "Your daughter's situation is more complicated and she is still in the intensive care unit. We are doing our best to save her."
Eleanor's heart was like a knife, and she couldn't stop the tears from flowing down, "Please, you must save my daughter!"
Meanwhile, in a luxurious villa on the other side of the city, William and Richard were raising their glasses in celebration.
"The plan went well," William said smugly, "That ungrateful girl should have shut up for good."
Richard nodded, a sinister glint in his eyes, "Yeah, big brother. Without Alicia as a stumbling block, the Stewart family property is ours."
William frowned, "Don't get too happy. We still have to make sure she really can't wake up again."
Richard sneered, "Don't worry, I've already made the arrangements. We have our people over at the hospital and will make sure everything goes according to plan."
The two men smiled at each other and poured another glass of champagne each.
Back at the hospital, Eleanor stood guard outside the ICU, anxiously waiting for news of her daughter. Every second was torture for her. She kept praying that God would keep her daughter safe.
A few hours later, the attending doctor walked out. Eleanor immediately stood up and nervously asked, "Doctor, how is my daughter?"
The doctor sighed, "Mrs Stewart, your daughter's condition is not good. She suffered a severe brain trauma and is still in a deep coma. We are doing our best to save her life, but ......"
Eleanor felt a heavenly spin as she held onto the wall before she could barely stand." But what? Doctor, please, you must save my daughter's life!"
The doctor looked at her sympathetically, "We'll do everything we can. However, even if she makes it through the dangerous period, she will most likely be left with permanent brain damage. You have to be psychologically prepared."
Eleanor felt the WHOLE WORLD fall apart. She fell into a chair and burst into tears. She thought of Alicia from her childhood, of her strength and bravery, of her bright future ...... Now it could all be in vain.
Just then, a nurse rushed in, "Doctor, the patient's vital signs are showing abnormal fluctuations!"
The doctor immediately rushed into the intensive care unit, and Eleanor wanted to follow her in, but was stopped by the nurse. She could only wait anxiously outside the door, praying for a miracle.
Meanwhile, William and Richard received a message from an informant inside the hospital.
"Big brother, there's a new situation," Richard put down the phone and looked grave, "That girl's vital signs have suddenly fluctuated. The doctors are doing their best to resuscitate her."
William frowned, "How could this happen? I thought we were assured she wouldn't wake up?"
Richard gritted his teeth, "It seems we underestimated her will to live. But don't worry, I've asked our people to think of something. No matter what, never let her wake up!"
William nodded, "Very well. Remember, make sure to do it cleanly and without leaving any traces."
Back at the hospital, after the doctors' efforts, Alicia's condition was temporarily stabilised. Although she was still in a coma, her vital signs had improved significantly.
Eleanor was finally allowed to enter the ICU to see her daughter. She carefully held Alicia's hand and whispered, "Honey, mummy is here. You must be strong, you must wake up ......"
Just then, Alicia's fingers moved slightly. Eleanor was surprised and called the doctor. After examination, the doctor confirmed that Alicia's brain activity had returned, which was a positive sign.
"Mrs Stewart, your daughter's will to live is very strong. Although we can't draw any conclusions yet, the situation is better than we expected. Keep up the hope and patience and I'm sure she'll pull through." The doctor encouraged.
Eleanor nodded gratefully with renewed hope. She decided to stay by her daughter's side day and night until she awoke.
After weeks of being in a coma, Alicia finally woke up in the hospital. The sunlight poured through the blinds on the hospital bed, warm and bright. She slowly opened her eyes, her vision coming into focus, and saw that her mother, Eleanor, was guarding her bedside, tears glistening in her tired but hopeful eyes.
"Mum?" Alicia called out softly, her voice hoarse from a long period of disuse.
Eleanor immediately took her daughter's hand in hers, too emotional to speak. She just kept nodding, tears sliding down her cheeks.
"Oh, thank God! Alicia, you're finally awake!" Eleanor choked out, "We were worried sick."
Alicia tried to sit up, but was too weak to do more than gently squeeze out a smile." What happened? Why am I in the hospital?"
Eleanor wiped away her tears and took a deep breath to calm her emotions." We were in a car accident, honey. Right after the charity dinner. You were hurt pretty bad and you've been in a coma. The doctors said ......" She didn't say any more, just held her daughter's hand tightly.
At that moment, the attending doctor and a couple of nurses rushed in and began to perform various tests on Alicia.
"Miss Stewart, I'm glad to see you wake up." The doctor said while checking the data on the monitor, "Your vital signs seem quite stable, which is a good sign. But we still need to do some detailed tests to make sure everything is okay."
Over the next few hours, Alicia went through a series of checks and tests. Though tired, she was becoming more and more aware. Scenes from the night of the crash began to flash through her mind as memories slowly returned.
In the evening, when the ward was finally quiet and only Eleanor was left with her, Alicia whispered, "Mum, I remember the car accident. The car that hit us, it was on purpose."
Eleanor blushed and looked around warily to make sure no one else was listening." Are you sure, honey? The police said it was just an accident."
Alicia nodded firmly, "I'm pretty sure. That car was waiting for us and it suddenly accelerated and rushed us. Mum, I think someone wants us dead."
Eleanor was silent for a moment, a complex look flashing in her eyes." Alicia, listen to me. Don't mention this to anyone right now, including the police. We need to be careful."
Alicia looked at her mother in confusion, "Why? We should call the police and let them re-investigate."
Eleanor held her daughter's hand tightly, "Trust me, honey. Right now we don't know who's behind this or how much power they have. Acting rashly may put us in greater danger."
Alicia nodded thoughtfully. She knew that her mother had always been cautious, and since she was so vigilant, she must have her reasons.
Over the next few days, Alicia's hospital room became a small parlour. Family, friends and business associates came to visit. Everyone acted concerned and friendly, but Alicia always felt a little uncomfortable. She began to scrutinise the expressions, words and actions of each visitor, trying to pick up clues.William and Richard were among the first relatives to visit. They brought expensive gifts and hypocritical care."Dear niece," William said with a beaming smile, "we are so happy to see you safe and sound."Richard nodded in agreement, "Yes, we were all terrified. I heard you lost some of your memories?"Alicia was keenly aware of the looks exchanged by her uncles. She decided to act like she knew nothing about the details of the crash." The doctor said it was normal and that it might take a while for your memory to fully return."William and Richard looked relieved. They exchanged a few more pleasantries and excused themselves, leaving Alicia alone with her thoughts. She was b
Eleanor was silent for a moment, then held her daughter's hand, "Alicia, this is truly an amazing change. But no matter what happens, you are my daughter. We will face this new challenge together."Alicia looked at her mother gratefully and a warmth welled up in her heart. With her mother's support, she felt more confident to face the uncertainty of the future. However, Alicia soon realised that this ability could be the key to uncovering the truth about the crash. She begins to carefully recall every detail of the night of the incident, trying to identify any clues that may have been overlooked. At the same time, she begins to use this ability to prepare herself for the future. She read a great deal of business and legal literature, committing complex concepts and terms to memory. She knew that knowledge was power in the coming struggle. One day, when Edward came to visit, Alicia decided to reveal the secret to him as well. She believed in Edward's loyalty and needed an ally she coul
Early morning sunlight poured in through the soaring glass walls of the Stewart Building, casting a soft golden glow over the boardroom. The spacious oval conference table was surrounded by executives in suits, who talked in low voices and glanced at the door from time to time, waiting for the main character of the day to arrive. The door was suddenly pushed open, and all eyes focused on the figure that walked slowly in. Alicia Stewart, the young heiress, stood there, her gaze firmly scanning the room. She wore a well-tailored dark blue suit that framed her slender figure. The trademark long blonde hair was neatly coiled behind her head, accentuating her angular yet soft face.Despite her long hospitalisation, Alicia looked refreshed, with a faint smile on her face and a glint of wisdom in her eyes. She walked gracefully over to the main seat, nodding her head gently in greeting before taking her seat."Good morning, everyone." Alicia's voice was clear and confident, "It is a pleasure
Alice was lost in thought when she suddenly heard the sound of soft footsteps behind her. She turned around and saw Robert Hudson, a senior figure in the company and a close friend of her father who had passed away."Excellent performance, Alice," Robert smiled, his eyes shining with approval and a hint of concern. "Your father would be proud of you."Alice smiled back, "Thank you, Robert uncle. I was just doing my best."Robert walked over to her and whispered, "Be careful, child. Your performance today was excellent, but it will also make some people uneasy. William and Richard won't give up their control of the company easily."Alice nodded, her expression becoming serious. "I know. But I have to do it for my father and the company."Robert patted her shoulder, "I'll do whatever I can to support you. But you'll need more allies. Remember, in the business world, information is power."Just then, Alice's assistant rushed in. "Sorry to interrupt, Miss Alice. The finance department jus
Alice sat in her father's study, surrounded by files and ledgers. The sunlight streaming through the half-open blinds on the window cast shadows on the floor, creating a pattern of light and darkness. The room was filled with a faint smell of leather and old books, reminding her of the days when her father taught her to read. The room had always been a sacred place for her father, and even after his death, Alice rarely entered it. But now, in search of the truth, she had to break this taboo. Her fingers gently caressed a thick ledger, which she had found in her father's safe. The safe was hidden in a secret compartment behind the bookshelf, and Alice might never have discovered it if she had not accidentally bumped into the mechanism. Her heart raced as she opened the safe, not knowing what secrets it would reveal.Opening the yellowed pages, she saw a string of numbers and company names. Alice frowned, the transfer records were complex and suspicious, involving several companies name
The coffee shop is located on the outskirts of the city, far from the noisy commercial district. It's a gloomy afternoon with dark clouds, as if foretelling an impending storm. The coffee shop is filled with the rich aroma of coffee, mixed with the scent of freshly baked desserts, creating a cozy yet mysterious atmosphere. Alicia is sitting in a corner, choosing a seat with a clear view of the entrance. She has applied light makeup today and is wearing a plain gray sweater and jeans, trying not to draw attention. Her fingers unconsciously caress the coffee cup in front of her, and her gaze occasionally glances at the glass door of the coffee shop. There are only a few customers in the coffee shop, some of whom are concentrating on their laptops, while others are speaking in low voices. Alicia tries to look like she is just waiting for a regular friend, but her heart is raging within her. Just as Alicia began to doubt whether George would show up, the door of the coffee shop was pus
Alicia closed her eyes, as if she could also feel the oppressive atmosphere of that morning. Her father's voice, the one that had always been so confident and powerful in her memory, suddenly seemed distant and vague."Your father's voice sounded urgent," George continued. "He said he had remembered some important things and wanted me to come see him immediately. I still remember the sound of his breathing being a bit hurried and the background noise of searching for papers."George paused for a moment, taking a sip of the already cold coffee. The bitter taste made him frown. "I told him I would go right away. But just as I was about to leave the house, I received a call from the traffic control center. They said... said your father's car had crashed on the winding mountain road."Alicia felt dizzy, and she struggled to control her emotions, but she still felt tears welling up in her eyes."I immediately rushed to the scene," George's voice became even lower, "and it was the most horr
"Damn!" Alicia muttered, as the key wouldn't fit into the lock several times. She took a deep breath and tried to calm down. Finally, the key was inserted into the correct position. The moment the engine roared to life, Alisha let out a sigh of relief. She slammed on the gas pedal, and the car shot out of the parking lot like an arrow. The tires screeched against the ground, and the car swayed slightly. In the rearview mirror, she saw the man had run onto the road and was already dialing his phone.Alicia's heart was still racing at an alarming rate, but she forced herself to concentrate on the road. Following the route she remembered, she began driving towards the suburbs of the city. The city was bathed in the glow of nighttime lights, and the number of pedestrians and vehicles on the streets was gradually decreasing. Neon lights cast colorful shadows on the car windows, and Alisha felt as if she were in a surreal dream.About twenty minutes later, Alicia noticed that a black SUV ha
