I had 4 classes, then went straight to the coffee shop where I work as a waitress. My scholarship covers my education, but for all other expenses, I have to work here.I did my chores, attended customers, and at sharp 5 PM, he came, same serious, expressionless face. He is the kind of person that has an aura which screams business. I went to him. He ordered his usual. I waited in order till his client walked in. They talked, and then he waved towards me to ask for napkins. That's my sign. I took out the box, hid it under my jacket, and passed it along with the napkins. Both of them talked for some time, paid their bill, and left.Just then, a notification popped up on my phone: "50 dollars added to your account."As a scholarship student, it's more than what I could make living i
Sejal's POV:Everything seemed normal in the cafe as usual: the customers chatting, the smell of coffee beans being roasted, waiters walking around.I saw him enter the cafe at his usual time. A few moments later, a man in uniform entered. He definitely is some high-ranked officer; I can tell from his uniform. This was unusual. Mostly, his clients are some serious-looking men or rich-looking women. Something else was unusual today: the weight of the box. It seemed heavier than usual. I was scared. If something had happened, I might be arrested as well and then deported, which is my worst nightmare. But curiosity won. I deliberately chose to take an order from the nearby table. The man in uniform looked angry. He was continuously talking, and the other man was, to my surprise, looking shocked, as if he was completely stunned by what the man in uniform was saying. I got closer so I could hear something. The man in uniform was talking about some terrorist attack and some money that he ha
Sejal's POV:I stared at the very much dead-looking man with his skin turning pale and foam coming out of his mouth. The next few hours went by like seconds. The ambulance came, then the cops. Everyone had their statements recorded. It was a very disturbing evening. After getting permission from the cops, I headed out towards my apartment. I unlocked the door, almost kicked off my shoes, and took out my phone to charge it, and that's when I saw it.The wooden box.I almost forgot about it. I should have told the police about it, but what could I have told them? That I was involved in a money-laundering business that somehow sponsored a terrorist attack?I stared at it.A few minutes passed. Then I held it in my hands.I wasn't wrong before. It was definitely heavier than usual.I opened it.It had small stones, diamonds, emeralds, rubies. They were small, almost like you couldn't easily put them on a ring or earring.I did make some jewellery during lockdown, but it was definitely not
I found the perfect abandoned castle near Edinburgh. It's enormous, beautiful, isolated, and mine. After spending all day , workers managed to get the master bedroom of primary second floor and the study right next into in working condition. This castle needs alot of maintenance and repairs but I m certain I can restore it to all its glory.I spend the first night there. At 3:17 AM, I heard three knocks on the enormous wooden door.I am completely certain you locked it.Then I hear a man's voice from outside:“I know you're in there. And I know what you're thinking.”I have no phone signal. You have three choices:First I open the door.Second Stay completely silent and wait.Third Go upstairs, find a window overlooking the entrance, and observe whoever it is without letting them know you're there. You say:“Come in. If you're a stalker, we need to talk because I need to know what level of unemployment have you reached that you decided to stalk someone as boring as me , if you are a
“I m not taking it if its not about some hidden treasure .”I said confidently. He slowly takes the key back.“Hidden treasure?”I shrug.“Yes. I have $50 million already. I'm not exchanging personal trauma for some Victorian family drama.”The ghost stares at me for a long, uncomfortable moment.Then—“...There is treasure.”I immediately sit up.He continues:“Beneath this castle is a chamber that was sealed in 1841. Inside is a collection of gold sovereigns, jewels, and—”I interrupt:“How much?”He sighs.“Approximately £14 million in today's value.”Me:“Okay. Now we're having a conversation.” But before he can continue, he adds:“There is one problem.”The room goes silent.“The treasure is guarded.”I ask, “By what?”He looks toward the staircase.“By the previous owner.”A beat.“And he is considerably less friendly than I am.”“Ok so I will share half of the treasure amount with your descendant or anyone you would like, great great grand daughter of your lover or anyone and
The hallway goes completely silent. Then: “...Canva?” I hear genuine offense in his voice. I hold the photograph up toward the door. “Yes. Canva. Photoshop. Anything. I'm supposed to believe this is evidence of reincarnation and you couldn't even give me decent image quality?” A long pause. Then the voice says, very quietly: “I died in 1897.” Me: “That explains the design skills.” Another silence. Then I hear paper being shuffled. The door opens approximately two inches. A very old-looking hand slides an actual document underneath. I pick it up. It's a beautifully handwritten legal agreement, complete with seals, signatures, property boundaries, treasure inventory, inheritance clauses, and—most importantly— a rent agreement for the ghost currently occupying your castle. I flip through it. At the bottom is a clause: “The resident spirit shall maintain the premises, protect the treasure, and refrain from disturbing the owner after midnight.” I l
