Christian drove me to the alpha’s mansion just before 6pm. I had packed pretty lightly. I had only brought an overnight bag and a couple of suitcases with me, I could pick up the rest of my stuff later if this whole thing worked out. There was no point lugging all of my stuff over her if I was going to get rejected before the night was over. I was truly shocked by how much stuff I had managed to stuff into my room in only a few years. When we had moved from the cottage we all had so few belongings that they had easily fit into the back of Christian’s car but now I could easily fill that car on my own. The alpha’s mansion was absolutely massive. I had always avoided this side of town but I had imagined that the alpha’s mansion would be similar to how I remember my parents’ mansion. I was wrong. This place made my parents’ house look like nothing more than a large house. This mansion was the kind of place that you would expect to see in some period drama about wealthy families in En
Elijah wrapped his arm around my waist and started heading towards the wing where his family lived. It felt so good being in his arms. I could feel the heart radiating from his body and a sense of finally belonging somewhere. I wanted this feeling to last forever, I was amazing but also terrifying. He led me into a large dining room which was dominated by a huge table. It looked odd to see such a large table with only three people sitting at it. It was even more strange seeing Felix sitting politely at the table with his parents, it was so different from the side of him that I was used to. Every one of them looked in our direction as we entered the room. I felt a sudden rush of anxiety. I couldn’t hear their thoughts in the same way as I could hear Elijah’s. I wondered if they thought that I was nothing but a rogue, just like Elijah did. They were smiling at me and I couldn’t see any hint of judgement but that was hardly conclusive. They were probably only faking it for Elijah’s sa
“Christian thought it would be better if we didn’t tell anyone about my family.” I said. I knew I was being evasive but I was scared. I had spent most of my life hiding my identity, it didn’t feel natural to tell anyone the truth. Onyx trusted her mate completely but I was scared, what if she was wrong about him. “Why is that?” Elijah asked. He licked the point on my neck where he would mark me. I felt shivers of pleasure running down my spine. He pulled me closer, he held me as though I was the most precious thing in the world to him. Tenderly but incredible possessively. ‘Tell him anything he wants to know, right now.’ Onyx purred. “There aren’t many packs that are willing to take in a lone wolf, especially not one that has the strength of an alpha.” I said. “I think your strength is a bonus, for me and our pack.” He said. “You wouldn’t say that if you knew who my parents were.” I said. I could feel myself getting nervous again. I was sure that I was about to lose my
When I opened my eyes the light was streaming in through the windows and I was alone. Elijah’s bed was wonderfully comfortable and waking up here in his arms would have been almost perfect. Waking up alone here however wasn’t so great. I reached out to touch his side of the bed, it was cold and that made me feel sad. I let out a long sigh. I had never been in this position before. I was usually the one who cut out on my partner after a one night stand. None of them had been my mate though, I wouldn't have done that to my mate. Then again I couldn’t understand why he would mark me if he didn't want to be with me. “You are awake.” Elijah said, pulling me out of my train of thought. He was standing in the doorway holding a large tray. There were all different kinds of breakfast foods and drinks on it, there was also a single rose laid to one side. The sight of him holding that try made my heart flutter. “I didn’t want you to have to wake up alone.” He said pouting. “I am not goi
I don’t know how I managed to get away from Charlotte. One minute she was holding onto me and begging me to skip classes with her then she all of a sudden shook off her sadness and headed to her first lesson. I think it probably had something to do with Ryker being in her first lesson. Maybe that thought had suddenly occurred to her. If so she clearly thought that he would provide a better shoulder to cry on than I did. She was probably right, I could be sympathetic but I always seemed to end up saying the wrong thing. After that she probably followed him around all morning like some sort of lost puppy. He wouldn’t be happy about that, I am sure that I will get an earful from him about it later. It will be like the trip to the cottage all over again. Oh well, at least it got her away from me for a while. I tried to concentrate on my lessons but I found that my mind kept wandering. Something in the back of my head told me that the rogue situation was important. That if it was just
Felix parked the car out of sight of the road and a couple of miles away from the area where I saw all of the activity this morning. Well at least this is where I think the activity was. I am still getting the hang of using my powers and it isn’t exactly as though I see a map in my head showing me where people are. It is more like I can use the connection that I feel to the other members of the pack to get a feeling for where they are. I can tell what direction they are relative to me and approximately how far away they are. That was how I worked out where to look but it was also why I couldn’t be 100% sure that this was the right area. It is the right direction though, of that I am almost certain. “What are we looking for?” Felix asked as we all got out of the car. “I am not sure, anything unusual.” I said. “This whole thing seems like a waste of time to me.” Felix complained. He wasn’t as frustrated as he was when we set off. One the way over here he kept glancing at Ava i
The cinema was quiet, almost empty which meant we had our pick of seats. Ryker and I sat down in two of the seats near the centre of the room. Ava made her way to follow us until Felix wrapped his arms around her waist to stop her. “What are you doing?” She asked, her voice shrill and her eyes darted around the room in fear. She didn’t want anyone to see him with his arms around her. “I thought we could sit over there.” Felix said, pointing towards a quiet corner of the cinema. Ava’s gaze flickered over to where Felix was pointing before looking around the room nervously again. She tried to remove his arms from her waist but he just gripped her tighter. “I don’t think that is a good idea.” Ava said. “What is wrong, you are acting as though you are ashamed of being seen with me.” Felix asked, the hurt was clear on his face. “It’s not like that.” Ava said, her voice carried a note of panic in it. There were only a few other people in the cinema but they were all looking at us.
Elijah still had some pack business to deal with so he took me to his office. The room was set up with a separate desk for me. The desk hadn’t been here when he showed me around yesterday. I guess he must have set this up for me while I was meant to be at school. That made me feel even more guilty for sneaking out and upsetting him. I was about to take my place at my new desk but he insisted on me bringing the laptop and chair over to his desk. He got me to set up my laptop then shared with me a whole bunch of information about the pack and the various businesses his family owned. While I looked over all the information Elijah was replying to emails on pack business. I am sure that he would be done much faster if he typed with both his hands but he seemed very reluctant to let go of my hand. I guess he was still a little upset about me putting myself in a dangerous position earlier. It was a little extreme though, I wasn’t going anywhere and typing one handedly is annoying as fuck.
