Chapter 17

Elijah wrapped his arm around my waist and started heading towards the wing where his family lived. It felt so good being in his arms. I could feel the heart radiating from his body and a sense of finally belonging somewhere. I wanted this feeling to last forever, I was amazing but also terrifying.

He led me into a large dining room which was dominated by a huge table. It looked odd to see such a large table with only three people sitting at it. It was even more strange seeing Felix sitting politely at the table with his parents, it was so different from the side of him that I was used to.

Every one of them looked in our direction as we entered the room. I felt a sudden rush of anxiety. I couldn’t hear their thoughts in the same way as I could hear Elijah’s. I wondered if they thought that I was nothing but a rogue, just like Elijah did.
