I leaned back against the plush sofa, swirling the wine in my glass, a satisfied smirk curling on my lips as the news anchor droned on about the chaos unfolding outside Arlene’s press conference.

Sarah paced restlessly in front of the floor-to-ceiling windows, the city lights twinkling behind her. She turned sharply, eyes wide with disbelief.

“I still can’t believe you pulled this off in such a short time,” she said, shaking her head. “How did you do it?”

Before I could respond, the elevator dinged, and Daisy strolled in, a proud grin plastered across her face.

Her blonde hair was perfectly styled, and she strutted over like she owned the place, holding up a folder dramatically.

“Am I amazing, Mum?” Daisy beamed, dropping onto the couch next to me. “I got the product sample, and I made sure the design got across exactly as you instructed. So… are you proud of me?”

I studied her for a moment before offering a slow nod. “It’s the first thing you’ve done right,” I said with a hint

Mirela“Yasmin?” I echoed, my eyes locked on Sarah, who seemed even more enraged than I was, her gaze fixed on the elevator where Arlene had just left. I could tell she wished for nothing more than to tear Arlene into shreds. And by heavens, I wanted that too. “Who is she?”Sarah turned to me, her eyes flashing with an intensity that sent a chill down my spine.“She’s someone I’ll never desire to talk about.” Her voice dripped with disgust, a deep-rooted hatred simmering beneath the surface. Before I could press further, Daisy interjected, “Mum, you have to do something to—”“Shut up, Daisy!” I snapped, shooting her a sharp glare. “You don’t interrupt me when I’m handling something important. Whatever she throws at you tomorrow, as long as it doesn’t cause trouble for Sarah and me, take it.”“What?” She snorted, her lips trembling as the smug look she had earlier dissolved into disgust. And by hell, I was disgusted by her presence too, a looming reminder of failure.I could bet on eve

Arlene“What is she here to do? Apologize?” “Ever since her glorious return, it’s been one chaos after another.” “Pretty face with a dark heart! We want her company burned down, or better still, have her sister take over!” “When her stepmother was in charge, none of this happened! Her first product after returning was trash.”The roar of the crowd hit me like a wave the moment I stepped onto the podium. The energy was palpable.Anger, disappointment, and betrayal radiated from every corner of the packed hall.I forced myself to keep my head high, my hands clenched tightly around the microphone as I took my place behind the lectern. The flashes of cameras blinded me momentarily, and I blinked rapidly, steadying my breath.Beside me, Matilda and Olivia stood firm, their faces unreadable yet alert. The layers of security surrounding me weren’t just for show. A single lapse could cost me my life. The representative from the authorities had already addressed the situation, but it hadn’t ca

LiamDespite the excruciatingly long flight from Hawaii, thanks to a sudden weather breakdown that stretched what should have been a quick trip into an endless torment, I still looked as sleek as ever, or at least, that’s what I told myself as I adjusted the cuffs of my tailored black suit.I sat in the backseat of my Rolls-Royce Phantom, the low hum of the engine providing a steady rhythm against my thoughts. The city outside blurred past the tinted windows, but my focus wasn’t on the passing scenery.Instead, I found myself scrolling through my tablet, flipping mindlessly through the endless reports and emails that had piled up during my absence.Allen, my ever-efficient assistant, though slightly less efficient after making me travel to Hawaii on false information, sat beside me, completely engrossed in a call with one of our Chinese associates.I had my earpiece in, listening to the conversation, but honestly, I wasn’t paying much attention. My mind was elsewhere on her.Arlene.I

Arlene“How on earth did this happen?” my father asked, his voice rising slightly with concern as he stood in the doorway of my office, just moments after stepping inside. His gaze swept across the disarray. Paperwork scattered on my desk, open files, and the general chaos engulfing the room since the scandal broke. The sight of my usually composed workspace in such disorder was clearly unsettling to him.I hated seeing him like this. His brow furrowed with worry, his voice weighted as though the responsibility rested solely on his shoulders.“Well, it’s not like I had a crystal ball to predict this,” I replied, trying to mask the panic building in my chest. I didn’t want him to worry more than he already did. “I really don’t know, Dad. Everything we’ve done, every measure we put in place, it’s like it’s all unraveling. Worst of all? It’s obvious someone inside is involved.”My mind immediately jumped to Daisy. There was no way in hell she didn’t know something. But, of course, I had

ArleneI sat at my desk, staring at the pile of documents that required my signature, but my hand refused to move. The weight of the crisis unfolding outside my office pressed down on me like an invisible force -suffocating and relentless. The glowing screen of my laptop displayed the latest news headline in bold, unforgiving letters:“WARNING: AVOID PENSELVIA PRODUCTS – SEVERE SKIN REACTIONS REPORTED.”A bitter laugh escaped my lips. The media was having a field day with this, dragging my name through the mud. Scandal after scandal, article after article. My face was plastered all over the internet alongside images of victims, women whose faces were marred by horrifying rashes and burns.Through my office window, I saw that the angry crowd had finally dispersed. The once-rowdy protesters, shouting for refunds and justice, had been replaced by uniformed officers patrolling the grounds. The police were now inside, combing through every department, every shipment, and every report.I ha
