“I can’t believe we aren’t going back to our normal life soon.” Allen sucked his teeth, walking right beside me.

I said nothing…

The evening breeze was cool against my skin as Allen and I walked toward the car parked a little distance away.

It had become a routine in the past four days: walk, talk, and then wait for the car to pick us up and drive us back to the hotel.

There, we’d take the bath we desperately craved before heading back to Yasmin’s parents’ home.

The family had been distant at first, cautious and moody, but after a few heavy conversations and a surprising turn of events, they had warmed up to me.

Now, they saw me as the one to call at every turn.

As we settled into the car, Allen grabbed his tablet and started scrolling through the news. A few moments later, he frowned.

“Mr. Walker, look at this,” he muttered, turning the screen toward me.

I glanced at it and immediately understood why he looked so amused.

Arlene’s five-year disappearance had been updated.

ColeThe moment my phone buzzed with a message from Mirela, my heart pounded harder than I cared to admit.Mrs. Gomez: Have you changed your mind about getting your wife back? You should see how she’s doing, Cole. Her babies are growing. My grip tightened on the phone. Babies. The word sent a jolt through me. I muttered it under my breath, barely registering that my car had come to a halt in front of the grand entrance to Arlene’s company.I had almost turned around, almost convinced myself again that Yasmin was dead and that this woman—Arlene—wasn’t her. But then there was the tattoo. Mirela had mentioned it, and no one else knew about it. No one except me and, of course, Marcus. Maybe Sarah too.The nagging feeling that Marcus might be setting me up gnawed at my gut. But why? If I got my wife back, it meant I could reclaim my company without any form of conspiracy.Marcus knew that. He wouldn’t want anything to come in the way of getting that company—not after the hard work they had

ArleneThe moment Liam and I walked hand in hand into the grand launch event, a wave of applause echoed through the enormous hall.My heels clicked against the polished marble floor, each step exuding confidence, each breath steady despite the whirlwind in my mind.I kept my head high, poised, and unbothered, knowing all eyes were on me. The weight of expectation was enough to make me tense, but somehow, I found strength just by walking next to Liam.So it allowed me to carry my step with ease—after all, I was born for this.Beside me, Liam strode with the perfect air of confidence, his fingers laced through mine as if it was the most natural thing in the world. When I glanced up at him, he was already watching me, his lips curved into a smug yet undeniably charming smile. He had the look of a proud husband, and for a brief moment, it made me chuckle. I bit my lip, shaking my head at how effortlessly he played the role.He lowered his head slightly to meet my gaze. His smirk deepened.

ArleneI jabbed the elevator button harder than necessary, my fingers trembling with barely contained fury.I had had enough of Mirela’s games, enough of her interference, her manipulation, her constant scheming against me as if my very existence threatened her carefully curated world. She had gone too far this time, publicly attempting to discredit my relationship with Liam, questioning the legitimacy of my children, and trying to control the board’s decisions regarding my marriage. She needed to be put in her place. The elevator ride to the penthouse was silent except for the faint hum of the machinery, but my mind was anything but quiet. I was already planning my next move.I hadn’t found the evidence I needed to silence her completely, but that didn’t mean I wasn’t ready to destroy her if she pushed me any further. The elevator doors slid open with a soft ding, revealing the familiar, excessively luxurious space of Mirela’s penthouse. Expensive chandeliers dangled from the ceiling

MirelaI sat at the head of the long conference table, right after Arlene. My fingers curled around the armrest of my chair as I watched the scene unfold before me. This wasn’t how it was supposed to go. Not at all.Arlene had walked into this meeting with confidence, her every move calculated. I should have known. I should have anticipated her counterattack. But even I hadn’t expected this. She was making use of her power as the president. Fuck her!A stunned silence filled the room, thick with disbelief.“In a week?” Williams sputtered, his brows furrowing as he leaned forward. He looked completely blindsided.Arlene, ever so composed, only shrugged. “Why wait? Liam and I are engaged already. As you can see, I’m pregnant, and we love each other. Might as well get it over with.”The air shifted. A ripple of shock spread across the boardroom, the weight of her words settling in. My heart pounded against my ribs, my nails digging into my palm as I fought to keep my expression neutral.

ArleneThe broadcast interview with BBC was happening on the morning of my big launch. The moment I stepped into the news studio, I could feel the heat of the cameras, the intensity of the questions that would be thrown at me, and the weight of public scrutiny hanging over my shoulders. When Matilda gave me the invite for an interview yesterday, I knew what this was about. I understood that they had been dying to have me here from the very instant I returned. Now that part of my disappearance had been made public, this invitation was inevitable.Liam sat beside me, holding my hand, his grip firm yet comforting. His presence alone was a steady reminder that I wasn’t alone in this. It gave me warmth. The blonde interviewer leaned forward, eyes sharp with curiosity. “So, Mr. Walker, you had no idea she was actually Arlene Gomez when you two first met?”Liam chuckled, the sound low and warm, his lips tilting into that effortless smile that made women swoon. “Honestly, the thought crossed

MirelaThe news of Arlene and Liam’s supposed reunion had spread like wildfire. The happiness both exuded while walking out of the hospital together baffled me. Arlene was reeling in so much happiness. It was only a matter of time until I got rid of her completely. It would only cause a little strain on Liam Walker, but Arlene would be destroyed.Knowing I couldn’t wait until Monday anymore, I instructed Fiona to arrange a meeting with the board members who were loyal to me.It had to be discreet. Not everyone on the board could be trusted. I needed only those whose greed outweighed their morals. We decided to meet at a private lounge in a five-star hotel, not far from where Cole Martinez was staying.Four of them arrived, the most influential shareholders of Gomez Industries. Each of them had significant stakes in the company, and all had their own reasons for wanting Arlene gone.As we settled into our seats, the air was thick with anticipation.Mr. Franklin, a balding man in his si
