Fiona

The elder whistled for one of the other wolves to come and take care of the young woman whose name seems to be kaelina, from my hands.

Her words still hung in the air, heavy with a truth I wasn’t prepared to face. My hands trembled as I looked from her to Kaelina, then back to the elder.

“What do you mean?” I asked, my voice barely above a whisper. “My mother… She died when I was born. I don’t understand.”

The elder’s expression softened, her piercing eyes studying me with a mix of sadness and admiration. “Your mother was one of us, Fiona. A rare wolf, blessed with a connection to the Moon Goddess. Her spirit was strong, her heart even stronger. But when she was forced to leave our pack, she carried a heavy burden: you.”

The weight of her words settled over me, and I felt the faint stirrings of something deep within my soul. It was as if the very essence of my wolf was responding to the elder’s revelation.

“She prayed to the Moon Goddess as she gave her final breath,” the elde

FionaIt didn't take long before the untouched parts of the pack house were swallowed by the fire. Lucian’s arms were wrapped around me, but it was to prevent me from running inside because I would have. My heart sank, sheer horror and shock gripped me at the same time. The crushing weight of knowing nothing could be done settled deep inside me. My chest convulsed, lungs seizing as though I too was being swallowed alive. I wanted to run to him—to do something at least, but Lucian’s firm arms around my waist prevented me. “No…” I whimpered like a kitten, the word was nothing but air, fragile and pitiful. Tears violently blurred my vision, but I could bring myself to look away. Every second stretched into eternity. Guilt dug its claws into my side, whispering that I should have stopped this, that love was supposed to protect—that I was supposed to protect him just as he had always protected me. “There’s nothing anyone could have done, Fiona. The fire couldn’t be stopped even if w

FionaMaddox’s wolf continued to squeal and whimper as it kicked and jumped around in the fire that now locked away his fur. That, however, was just background noise to Lucian and Orion. The two glared down at one another with an intensity that spoke volumes of promised violence, death even. Lucian’s gaze burned with an intensity that made my soul quiver, even though his aggression wasn’t directed at me. “Lucian, please, listen to me,” my voice came out in a stammer, but I pushed on, taking causations steps closer to him. “We don’t have time for this. Orion is on your side.”“He wasn’t on my side when he sent those rogues through my border. He’s a f*cking traitor, Fiona.”“He was blinded by rage, and did it all out of anger. He wasn’t thinking straight…”“Tell me, Fiona, why was he raged, and since when has hatred been eating him from the inside?” He asked, jaw clenched as he stalked forward. “This bastard has been pretending to be loyal to me all these years, and you’re taking his

Fiona“Lucian!” I cried, dodging balls of fire, falling from the ceiling as I hurried towards them. The wall of fire wasn’t enough to stop me from diving through to get hold of whoever was brutalizing my mate. The moment I crossed the inferno into the mostly untouched part of the room, anger coiled through me. Kneeling over Lucian, was an evil figure, wiping his victim’s blood off his blade with his tongue. Maddox. “Look who has the last laugh, you fool,” he laughed. He mustn’t have noticed or heard me enter from all the noise of the ceiling crash and roaring flames. But I was quick to give him a notice. I landed a blow I thought was fatal on the side of his face from behind. Maddox grunts, falling off Lucian’s bleeding body. A whimper automatically escapes me as I knelt beside him, taking his hand in mine. I don’t waste time anymore despite the overwhelming force clenching my heart. Tears stream down my cheeks, and I’m blinded by it as I scramble over his body, searching for w

FionaI closed my eyes, bracing myself for the impact of the arrows. Seconds pass and I don’t feel anything piercing my skin. “I’ve got you, little bird.”I peel my eyes open to see Orion already standing in front of me, shielding me from the arrows. A gasp escaped my lips as a line of blood rolled down the corner of his mouth. “No, no, no,” I panicked, touching his body to see where the arrows might have hit him. “What have you done?”“I protected you, sister. Just like I’ve always done ever since we were pups.” He forced a smile as he spoke. Orion tries to speak again, but all he does is choke and cough up his own blood. I motion to take a glance at his back, but he stops me. “Are you hit? Let me see?” I protested, but he held me in place, forcing me to meet his gaze. “Look at me, Fiona,” he growled, shaking my fragile body till I complied. “I’ve endured the worst. I will survive this one. What I need you to do now is get out of here, go back to silver fang and tell the warrio

FionaI never thought I’d be this angry, confused, and happy at the same time. The anger is because of the pain he’s caused me ever since I set foot on this pack. Correction, I’ve been angry with him ever since he saved me from Damascus. No, it should have been ever since he started hating Lucian for becoming Alpha, and also for pretending to be happy for me. Truth is, I’m just so pissed about having him as my brother right now. The confusion is about the words he just uttered. Did he make a mistake by saying ‘we’? The right word would have been ‘Fiona, you need to leave now.’ At least, that would have made more sense, judging the situation I was in. However, if he said the words right, then why is he suggesting that we leave his own pack? Why is he hiding us in what seems to be a storage room? Why is he hiding from his own warriors?Above all the questions, confusion, and anger. I didn’t just know why I had that tiny sting in my chest, a hint of joy and relief now that wrapped unde

FionaI sprinted for the pack house, different emotions spiraling over my mind, all at once. But the thought of losing my mate stood out, kept me moving, step after step. The towering building loomed in the distance, lit by torches and swarming with warriors. A heart-gripping scene that almost made me change my mind about going in there. Almost. I moved with caution. My steps were slow and almost inaudible as I crept closer to the distracted guards. They chatted nonchalantly, leisurely disinterested in whatever danger nature had to offer. It didn't take me up to a minute before I knocked both of them unconscious. I was careful not to make any noise as I placed their heavily armored bodies on the ground. They weren’t dead, but they won’t be bothering me for a long time. I made sure of that. I suck in a deep breath before allowing myself to shrink back to my human form. My bones and muscles were used to this routine by now because I felt no pain as I shifted from a seven-foot-tall w
