Kieran’s POV

“Have breakfast for two brought up,” I instruct the cook.

He glances at Zoey, whose back is turned as she sits in my office, seemingly engrossed in the view outside. When he notices my stare, he quickly bows, mumbling, “Yes, Alpha.”

I take the seat across from her. She turns, her expression unreadable but expectant.

“You wanted to see me?” she asks, tone level, but there’s a strange pulse to her energy—calm, controlled… humming.

“I think you should be excused from combat training for the time being,” I say, hiding behind my real reason. Her safety.

She blinks, clearly taken aback. Hurt flashes across her face before she composes herself.

“I can get better,” she replies, resolute.

“I know you can,” I say, surprised by the steel in her voice.

“So why aren’t you letting me?”

Her tone isn’t angry, just firm. She meets my eyes, still and sure, her skin glowing faintly with warmth. Somet

Zoey’s POV I don’t know where I’m going as I burst out of the cabin. The air is cold against my skin, sharp like reality slapping me back into the world, but my legs move with a purpose my mind can’t grasp. I’m not running from something. I’m running to something. Raven’s office. My feet lead me there before I even realize it, past guards and staff who stare and whisper but don’t stop me. Maybe they sense the energy rippling off me. Maybe they know better. The moment I reach her office door, I don’t knock. I push it open. It’s empty. Relief washes over me, swift and staggering. I crumble the moment I step inside, the door clicking shut behind me. My knees hit the floor hard, and sobs rip through me like tidal waves. My chest tightens with each breath until I can barely suck in any air. The room spins, the floor beneath me trembling. Then I feel it—my skin glowing again, softly at first, then brighter as my cries intensify. The tremor deepens. Dust dances in the air. Somewhere

  • The Lost Luna’s Return   Chapter 24 — The Truth Buried in Blood and Moonlight

Kieran’s POV As she stumbles out of the cabin, I can’t bring myself to follow her. I wouldn’t even know what to say… “She didn’t do that,” Lucien defends. “I know, but if she did, it would be an accident,” Anders clarifies. “She didn’t do it,” I repeat, more firmly this time, like saying it out loud will make it more real, more true. “I’m sure,” Anders says with a shrug, “but without proof, we don’t know anything for certain.” “Guys, what is this?” Raven interrupts, her eyes locked onto the worn out pages of the book she’s holding. She reads aloud slowly, voice full of unease and awe: “Though they walk alone, the Fates sometimes bind them to a Half—a male counterpart bearing only a portion of the divine flame. Yet only one can awaken the full force of the Moonborn. Her true equal. The Supreme Half. When the sacred bond is sealed—marked and

Zoey’s POV “We have two months to the war,” a voice says. The world around me is pitch black, but the voices pierce through the void like beams of light. “Phase One is already in motion. She won’t fail,” another voice answers calmly, coldly. “What about him? Is he ready yet?” “He’s been preparing for this his whole life. He’s ready. We’ll begin the ritual a week before the war.” “Good. Kieran’s downfall is around the corner… and my rise is all but certain.” Suddenly, air rushes back into my lungs like a crashing wave. I jolt upright, coughing, gasping for breath. My surroundings spin and blur, but as they come into focus, I realize I’m in the den of Anders’ cabin. My limbs tremble. My body feels weak—fragile, like it did when I was an Omega at Arrow Heart Pack. I brace myself against the wall, dragging my aching body up the creaky staircase, each step a battle. Voices drift toward me from above. “…she killed her parents during one of her episodes,” someone says. The words s

Kieran’s POV Moonborns. The word loops endlessly in my head. Moonborns. Moonborns. Moonborns. It drowns out everything else. I go through the motions—sign papers, respond to updates—but I’m not present. I don’t even know what it means yet. Just that the word has sunk into my bones. A knock on my office door jerks me out of the spiral. “Yes?” I call out. Damon steps in, silent, and slumps into the chair across from me. I set my pen down and study his face. “How’s Lucien?” I ask. “Pissed at you—but he’ll get over it,” he says with a shrug. “And Aubrey?” I raise a brow. “Keeping her head down.” “She better,” Ragnar snarls in my mind. “How are we looking on the preparations?” I ask, flipping through a half-read document. “We’re getting there.” Ragnar growls again. So do I—aloud this time. “Getting there? We should be ready by now.” “We still have two months,” Damon replies, surprised by my tone. “Less than that,” I mutter, slumping back in my chair. Damon stands, read

Zoey’s POV“Yeah, you do that,” Lucien snaps before storming off. Damon follows in silence, and soon Raven and I are walking away too.“Sorry you had to see that,” she says as we make our way to the pack hospital.“It’s okay. Families argue,” I reply, even though I’ve never really had one.She nods thoughtfully. “Lucien doesn’t let many people in. So when he does, he’s protective—sometimes overly so. Kieran, though… he doesn't let anyone close. Not since Aubrey.”Aubrey.There’s that name again. We step into Raven’s office and find Lucien already there, slouched in a chair, brooding.“Where’s Damon?” Raven asks as she takes a seat.“Said something about keeping an eye on Aubrey,” Lucien mutters, annoyance creeping into his voice. That name again.“I can’t believe Kieran’s just letting her roam freely,” Raven murmurs under her breath.“He probably thinks it’s best for the war,” Lucien bites out. “That’s all that matters now.”“Don’t be like that, Luce,” Raven says gently. “You know he’
