** Paige’s POV **

Poppy washes her hands before putting the equipment in a bowl and pouring boiling water over it. She kneels beside Leo again, her face pale, but her hands are steady. She sucks in a breath, closing her eyes and muttering a prayer before her eyes snap open and she looks down at Leo with determination. “Okay, move your hands.”

I move back, grimacing at the blood now that the pressure isn’t slowing it.

“He’s going to need a blood transfusion, although I don’t know if your vet can even find suitable blood for him. I’d suggest calling ahead to give them some time to source some,” she says as she examines the wound.

“I’ll do it,” Callen says without hesitation. Poppy may think he’s agreeing to call the vet, but I know what he really means. He plans to donate his own blood to Leo.

Poppy doesn’t flinch as she digs in. Her hands are steady, practised. I know how passionate she is about becoming a vet, but this is the first time I’ve ever seen her in action. She works like she

  • The Lost Pack   Chapter 105

** Paige’s POV **When I get to Jaxon’s bedroom door, I just stand there for a second, preparing myself. I’m not sure what version of my sister I’m about to walk into. Will she be curled up in a ball and shaking, angry, or pretending she’s fine?“Poppy, can I come in?” I say softly to the door.“Yeah,” she responds immediately. That's a good sign at least.I nudge the door open with my shoulder.Poppy is perched on the edge of Jaxon’s bed. She’s clean and wearing clothes I don’t recognise; she must’ve been given some at the healer’s cabin. She looks both too young and far too grown up at the same time. Her eyes meet mine, wide and tired, but calm.“Hey,” I smile gently before nudging the door shut behind me. “I brought coffee.”Her gaze drops to the cups in my hands, and a flicker of gratitude flashes over her face. She takes one of the cups carefully, both hands wrapped around it like she needs the warmth.“Thanks,” she breathes.I sit beside her and the silence stretches for a momen

  • The Lost Pack   Chapter 104

** Paige’s POV **After my shower, I feel like a new person, ready to try to deal with everything happening now that I’m not caked in blood. I head back downstairs wrapped in one of Ryder’s oversized hoodies. The smell of camomile tea drifts through the air, calming me further. Ryder is waiting at the island, a cup steaming in front of him. His gaze lifts to me as soon as I get to the bottom of the stairs. There’s exhaustion in his eyes, but there’s also something fierce there, something unshakable that steadies me more than any words could.I sit beside him, Parker coming to sit on my other side. I sip the tea with a sigh.“Better?” Rye asks.“So much,” I nod.I feel almost relaxed until the creak of the front door makes me jump, but it’s only Remy stepping inside. He shuts the door quietly behind him, looking exhausted.“Where’s Poppy and Callen?” I ask before he even has a chance to sit.Remy scrubs a hand down his face. “Poppy wanted to stay with Leo at the healer’s. Callen stayed

** Paige’s POV **When I turn, Ryder is already crouched naked on the floor. He reaches for the pair of shorts draped over a chair and pulls them on, then pushes to his feet, rolling his shoulders as if they ache. His eyes meet mine, still alert even through the exhaustion I can feel coming from him. “Sit,” he says simply, nodding toward the chair at the kitchen island. My legs feel unsteady, but I obey. Ryder drags a chair out and drops into it, his posture still rigid with tension that tells me the fight hasn’t fully left his body. A few seconds later, Parker reappears, sliding into the seat beside me. His thigh presses against mine under the table. The three of us sit in silence for a long moment. The fridge hums softly, and my pulse thuds in my ears. Finally, Ryder speaks. “The hunters knew what they were doing tonight. They came in coordinated waves, tried to pull our enforcers beyond the tree line where they’d set traps, but we didn’t give chase. They underestimated us again.”“

** Paige’s POV **Leo groans, his body twitching under the blanket. Poppy startles, her nails digging into her knees as her gaze flies to him. His head rolls weakly to the side; his eyes remain shut, but his hand twitches, reaching blindly toward her again.Poppy’s breath hitches. “Why does he keep…”“Because the bond doesn’t let go,” Callen says simply.Poppy squeezes her eyes shut, her whole body trembling. “This is too much. I can’t handle this.”“You don’t have to handle it all tonight,” I tell her, desperate to stop the rising panic in her voice. “Just breathe. One step at a time.”She hugs her knees tighter, whispering, “I had a plan. I was going to finish school. Get into vet training. Work with animals. Not… not be mated to some stranger who turns into one.”Her words sting, but not because she means them harshly. It’s because I know exactly what it feels like to have your life ripped away and rewritten without your consent.“You can still be that,” I say quietly. “Being part

  • The Lost Pack   Chapter 100

** Paige’s POV **I huddle on the floor between the bed and the wall with Jaxon pressed against my chest, and Poppy whispering prayers beside me. My hands tremble, and I can feel my heart hammering in my throat. Every sound outside twists my stomach. I want to curl into myself, to make it all stop, but my mind won’t let me. I’m trapped between fear and the desperate need to do something. Anything. How am I going to explain this to Poppy if we survive the night? If they survive. If Ryder or. Remy… if Callen… if anyone… My chest tightens at the thought. The reality of what’s happening outside makes me feel like a fraud, hiding here while my mates fight and risk everything. I feel useless.A sharp voice cuts through my panic. “Where can I find clean towels?” Parker asks, crouched beside me. His eyes are calm, but I can see the tension in his jaw.“Cupboard,” I manage to say, pointing toward the airing cupboard across the room.He nods, yanking every towel he can grab and stacking them in
