I heard her cry out, and the sound of someone hitting the floor, along with the familiar metallic clink of thick, metal chains, and immediately pushed my way through the crowd. Haden tried to call me back to him, but I barely noticed, my whole being focused entirely on finding her.

And I did, sprawled on the ground in filthy rags, a collar around her neck, attached to a heavy chain, the other end of which was wrapped around Gamma - or I suppose Alpha, now - Byron's thick palm. Most were standing around, watching with looks of horror and disgust, except for those from Silver Waters, who seemed far less bothered by this sort of scene.

Some even looked mildly satisfied, Abigail especially, until she looked up and saw me, and her expression turned to shock, then anger. "You!" she screeched, raising her hand to point it at me, "So this is where you ran off to, thinking you could escape your duties to our pack," she sneered, then turned to Byron, "She should be in chains just like her use
