Sienna’s Point of View

The second Asher’s eyes lock with mine, he immediately lets go of Bianca’s hand.

It is so quick, so sharp, that I almost wonder if I imagined it. But I didn’t, I saw the flicker of guilt, the way his jaw tightened.

My chest constricts painfully.

I can’t do this. Not here. Not in front of my son.

I turn away from him, forcing a smile.

“Alright, bug, time to go.”

I murmur, tugging gently at his hand, already moving toward the door before either of them can open their mouths.

But of course, my son doesn’t notice the storm brewing in the air.

“Wait, Mom!”

Aiden’s voice rings out across the parlor, bright and unbothered. He turns, waving wildly.

“Alpha Asher!”

He calls, loud enough for everyone in the shop to hear.

My heart slams into my ribs.

Asher stops dead in his tracks. His gaze jerks down to my son, and something unreadable flickers across his face.

Beside him, Bianca stiffens.

“Oh, hell.”

Ava mutters under her breath.

“Aiden, sweetheart… Let's go, okay?”

  • The Luna He Left Behind   Chapter 19

Bianca’s Point of ViewI pace the length of my room, my phone pressed tightly against my ear. My palms are sweaty, and my stomach is twisting itself into knots.“I’m trying, okay?”I whisper into the phone, my voice already trembling.“You’re not trying hard enough.” The voice on the other end is sharp, and cold. Familiar in a way that makes my skin crawl. “You have been there for weeks and what do you have to show for it? Absolutely nothing.”“I am trying. Do you think this is easy? So you think I can just force him?”“Your excuses don’t interest me, you promised you could handle it.”He says coldly and I flinch, clutching the phone harder.“It’s not my fault.”I say quickly.“He is distracted. He had been distracted since we got here, it's like he is somewhere else even when I’m right in front of him. What do you expect me to do about it?” “Fix it. Get his focus back on you. You are supposed to be his Luna, not a shadow in his house.”He snaps. There is a short pause, and then mor

  • The Luna He Left Behind   Chapter 18

Asher’s Point of View Something is wrong with Derek.I have known him long enough to recognize when he is keeping something from me. He has been colder this past week, with short, clipped answers during patrol reports, and he has been avoiding my eyes whenever we pass each other in the hall. When he does look at me, it is not the steady, loyal gaze of my Beta. It's sharp, almost accusing. And if there is one thing I can’t stand in my inner circle, it is division. So when our meeting wraps up that afternoon, me, Jake, Peter, and Derek all going over upcoming patrol rotations, I make my decision.“Jake, Peter, you are dismissed.”I say and they both nod their heads before gathering their papers. Jake throws me a quick look like he senses the tension brewing, but he doesn’t question me. When the door shuts behind them, it’s just me and Derek. He is standing stiffly, his arms folded in front of his chest, his eyes trained on the table and it is clear that he would rather be anywhere but

  • The Luna He Left Behind   Chapter 17

Sienna’s POV It has been a long, heavy week. Derek has been quiet, too quiet since the dinner. He keeps watching me in that older-brother way of his that always make me feel like I am ten years old again, sneaking cookies before dinner. But this time, it it is more calculating, like he is waiting for something. So when he showes up at my house on my day off, I am not even a little bit surprised. I am surprised, though, when he shuts the door behind him, leans against it, and fixes me to my spot with a look that has my stomach dropping. “Alright. Enough dancing around. What the hell is going on, Sienna?” He asks flatly. My throat tightens. “What are you talking about?” I asks hesitantly and he laughs humorlessly. “Oh no, I know you Si. Don’t play dumb with me. I have been watching. You. Aiden. As

  • The Luna He Left Behind   Chapter 16

Derek’s POVI walk Asher around the side of the house towards the shed, away from the chatter and the kids’ voices. He follows me in silence, hands behind his back. He turns to me and I begin. His arms is folded, and he is looking at me like he is focused on my words, but I know he is distracted. I’m going over patrol schedules, but he keeps glancing past me again and again. At first, I think he might be looking at Siemna, but I turn ans follow his line of sight.Straight to the yard where the boys are playing. Straight to my nephew.Aiden is running circles around Luke, with a stick in hand, laughing so hard he can barely breathe. And Asher’s eyes are locked on him like he can’t look away.I frown slightly. “Is something wrong?”I asks and Asher’s head snaps towards me. “No. I'm just keeping an eye out and making sure that the boys don’t hurt themselves.”I let out a dry laugh. “They’re fine. Kids bounce.”I say shrugging but he doesn’t answer. His eyes stay locked on Aiden, I fro

Sienna’s POV“Aiden, wait!”I begin but it is already too late. He is already sprinting off of the porch, calling for Luke before I even have my shoes off. Ava snorts next to me, shaking her head. “That kid could at least pretend to miss you for longer than five seconds.”I roll my eyes and push the door open.“Hi, Derek.”He hugs me quickly before taking the dish from my hands.“Hey, sis. You didn’t have to bring anything.”“Grilled veggies don’t exactly count as effort.”I say shrugging as I step inside.By the time we get outside, Jake and Peter are already sitting at the table, with beers in hand. Anna and Alice, their mates, wave me over. They scoot some chairs together, and Ava plops down next to them.Anna leans in, her eyes wide.“Okay, tell me everything. Did someone actually faint in the lobby today or was that just a rumor?”Ava laughs.“Oh, it happened. This guy came in with a sprained ankle, saw the needle, and boom. Right onto the floor.”Alice gasps."You are kidding.”

Asher’s Point of View Luke squeals excitedly before racing back to the field, shouting over his shoulder.“Come on, Aiden!”Aiden grins up at me one last time, his eyes shining brightly, and then he runs after Luke. The other boys follow quickly, their laughter carrying across the playground.I stand there, rooted to the spot, as they start up their game. The ball rolls, sneakers pound the dirt, and shouts of “Pass it!” and “Goal!” echo in the air.Luke is fast, just like his father, quick feet darting past the others. But it is Aiden who makes the field his own. He is sharp, and fearless. He steals the ball from an older kid, twice his size and kicks it straight into their makeshift goal.He throws his hands in the air, shouting, “Yes!” before he high fives Luke. My wolf practically howls inside of me. 'Look at him. Ours. He is strong. He is perfect.'I can’t deny it, there is something in the way he moves, the stubborn determination in his stance. It feels like looking in a mirro
