**Rowan's POV**Last night, I felt a pack link break. Werewolves normally don't die unless it's from old age or during war. So I assumed it was one of the old werewolves in the pack, and I would receive a report of their death soon, since every death is reported to me for me to keep record of how many pack members we have left. It was a long night. Raina was back home, but she wasn't in my arms. I wanted to hold her close to me, to feel her in my arms and breathe in her delicious scent. But she needed to spend time with her mother.I was surprised to see Raina standing next to her mother when they escaped, not expecting her to be alive. We didn't have all the details yet, but Rita said she was locked up by Alpha Pace, and she willingly stayed to protect her daughter. Raina was so happy to have her mother back. She was no longer blocking our bond, and I could feel everything she was feeling. I was happy for her... her mother was still alive, and now, she would live with us in th
**Raina's POV**"I forgot to ask. How did you manage to fool Dad into thinking you had died?" I asked Mom. "He was so convinced that you had died to the point that looking at my face gave him pain." We had showered and, after wearing the provided pajamas, we got into bed. "I had a witch help me break the bond," Mom replied. "She broke the mate bond and then placed a barrier around the Whitecrest Pack to prevent anyone from locating you." "No wonder Dad felt like you died," I remarked. "Did you ever regret it? Or do you feel sad that Dad found a chosen mate?"Mom shook her head. "Never. I left to protect you, and I would do it all over again if I could protect your life. The only thing I would change is who I left you with. Clearly, your father is a weak man. I regret leaving you with him. He traumatised you." "And I'm not sad that your father found someone else. I broke his heart first... so, I expected him to move on. What I feel sad about is how he forgot about you once he had
**Raina's POV**"My name is Lydia, and this is my mate and Alpha, Sebastian Vesper," Lydia introduced herself to my mother. "I'm not an Alpha anymore," Sebastian murmured."You will always be my Alpha, honey," Lydia said, and they shared a look for a moment. Sebastian looked at Lydia the way Rowan looked at me. With eyes so full of love. The type of love I've always wanted. "My name is Rita Anderson, and I'm Raina’s mother," Mom said, smiling warmly. "Thank you for welcoming me into your home.""Oh, don't mention it. We are family," Lydia remarked. "Would you like to eat first or should I show you to your room first?""I think we should eat first, and then we can rest. I haven't had good sleep in years."Silence fell upon the place, and Mom chuckled. "Oh, don't feel bad. I had willingly stayed locked up. I had my own reasons. Now I've freed myself because it's time to bring Pace down. He's a danger to the werewolf society.""I'm so sorry you had to do that," Lydia remarked, her eye
**Raina's POV**My heart slammed against my ribcage at Rowan’s words. He meant them...I could see it in his eyes.He was being genuine.I felt my heart skip a beat as a wave of relief washed over me."I-""We need to leave," Mom's voice cut me off. "I stopped him temporarily, but he's going to come after us soon.""Right," Rowan said before looking at my mother. If he was shocked to see her alive, he hid it well. "The cars are ready for departure," he added. He mindlinked everyone, and we all ran towards the cars parked a few meters away.It looked like they had spent a night here. My heart filled with warmth, knowing Rowan had come for me. Once we got settled in the Jeep, Flynn started it and sped away.'Are we being followed?' Rowan asked the warriors through a group mindlink.'No one is following us so far, Alpha.''Don't let your guard down. Our goal is to take the Luna and her mother to safety,' Rowan said smoothly like it was the most natural thing to do. I knew he had que
**Rowan's POV**"Alpha, are you ok?" I heard Flynn’s worried voice echo in the air, but all I could think about was forcing my way through the barrier.Raina was on the other side of the barrier, and I needed to walk through it if I wanted to find her and take her back to our home.I didn't want to waste another minute... every second that she was away from me felt like torture. Like I was burning in the pits of hell. I got to my feet, and gasps echoed around me."Alpha, you're hurt!" Flynn exclaimed, and I glanced at my body, noticing the burns on my arms.My shirt was in tatters as well, like I had been electrocuted. The pain didn't even register... I felt numb. I was in so much pain from losing Raina and worrying about her; any other pain was nothing compared to that.I needed her back in my arms where she belonged... I needed to make sure she was safe and never let her get hurt again.I needed to apologise to her for making her misunderstand. The information about my past should
**Rowan's POV**No matter how many times I ran through the strategy with my men, I didn’t feel confident enough.Something told me it wouldn't be so easy to gain access to the Nightshade Pack. There must be a reason why no one has been able to. I needed more help.I clenched my hand around the charm that Agatha gave us and placed it in the front of my pocket before walking into the dungeon with Flynn in tow. After preparing everything for our departure, I wanted to question that woman in the dungeon once more, hoping she would give me some useful information that I could use to bring down Alpha Pace.Dad had already alerted the council, but most of them didn't believe him, or they didn't want to. But I think they were afraid of going against their leader. Fucking cowards.I didn't like people who followed unruly leaders blindly just because they held the power. Alpha Pace was evil, and he wasn't fit to be the leader of the council. I'll drag him out of that seat myself. Anger flar
**Raina’s POV **Guilt flooded over me as I walked down the passage, passing the many cells in this building. All this happened because of me. The missing warriors...Brooke becoming a traitor and working with the enemy...Us being trapped here and falling out with the witches...I knew there was
**Rowan's POV**“Alpha, what do we do now?” Flynn asked after the witch left. Even though we were locked up, the cell was clean with two bunk beds and a bathroom. They also fed us, although we were skeptical about touching the food. We were in witch territory after all.I was mostly worried about
**Raina’s POV**I pushed Rowan into the bathroom, and then I rushed to the bag I had packed. Our bags were brought inside while we discussed in the study earlier. Opening the bag, I took out the small bag where I had packed Rowan’s things. I took out his shaving cream and a shaving stick. I then fo
**Raina’s POV**A lump formed in my throat when I recalled the taste of the concoction that Silas made me drink. I took it so many times that my body could remember the pain. It’s like I could still feel my stomach burning even though I wasn’t taking the horrible concoction at the moment.I knew th
