Chapter Six

Planning:

An influx of thank yous flooded Nora's mind. An overwhelming surge of gratefulness and overjoyed feeling made her stagger in her steps. She grabbed ahold of Jace's arm to steady herself. Jace looked at her quickly, her eyes tearful as she got through the emotions. Then it happened, a small tinge of anger and upset hit her. She knew there would be upset somewhere in the pack.

"Nora what's happening?" Jace asked, Nora was squeezing him so hard she was leaving finger indentations on his arm.

"How do you deal with this?" She whispered as the emotions subsided.

"What?" He didn't notice anything.

"The mindlink. You can feel everyone's emotions when they do it." Nora said, releasing him.

"It's hard at first but we grow up with it. You will get used to it." He said, kissing her forehead.

"I hope so. That was a lot." She said letting out a breath.

"What did you do?" Jace asked, confused.

"She set all the women free." Asher said with a grateful face.

"You have no idea what you just did for the woman in the pack. Thank you." Asher said, bowing his head.

Jace smiled proudly and squeezed Nora against him. She was turning into an Alpha more and more.  He glanced at the sky and thanked the moon goddess for picking her for his mate.

You're doing great Luna Alpha. Matt mindlinked her as they got back to the Red Woods pack house.

She smiled at him and nodded her thanks. Nora spotted Dante's car. She watched Jace's expression change but then it faded when he saw just Sarah sitting in the front steps.

Worried Dante left to come here? Nora sent him.

Yes I need some to watch the roaches. Jace replied back.

As they reached Sarah she stood up and bowed her head to them.

"Alpha, Luna." She greeted them respectfully.

"Sarah, I'm so happy you came. I have a lot to ask you. Come inside we will get settled." Nora smiled brightly at her.

"Of course Luna." Sarah nodded.

Asher led the way into the pack house, he started towards the office. Nora followed him but didn't really want to do this in such a close and confined area. She could feel Zara clawing inside of her. She didn't understand what she wanted but being outside had made her settle a bit.

"Asher, is there a back patio or someplace like that?" Nora said, stopping half way there.

"Of course Alpha." Asher said shifting gears and walking towards the back of the house.

"You ok?" Matt asked Nora.

" I don't know but being outside makes me feel better." She said Jace glanced at her.

Our Little wolf wants out of our little hunter. Cole said to Jace.

Jace nodded understanding now. Nora was a new wolf and didn't understand all the signs yet. She hadn't even shifted yet. IIf her wolf kept pushing her and gnawing at her, she might shift and it would be dangerous to do that here.  He needed to help her transition and he needed to start teaching her soon.

"Jace?" Nora asked, looking at him as she patted the seat next to her.

Jace didn't even realize they had walked outside onto a small little patio. Jace smiled at her letting her know he was fine and sat down next to her.

“Asher and Sarah I want a list of names of people who you think would be best for the roles as Delta and Gamma. Sarah if you weren't coming over to Cross River I would say one of those spots are yours. I want a woman in one of the roles.” Nora said, shifting slightly in her chair.

Asher looked at her at  the mention of a woman holding the position. He cleared his throat trying to find the words to question her.

“Alpha not that I am against it but a woman has not held that position before.” Asher said, a little nervous.

“And I'm pretty sure an Alpha being a female is a first.” Nora said, making a face at him.

“Well yes.” Asher said but Nora cut him off before he could continue.

“Perfect, now I need names. For females I was wondering what you thought of Lyla?” Nora said and then finished looking at Sarah.

Sarah looked down as she thought, she made a few faces. Asher watched Sarah and then looked to Nora who was waiting for a response.

“Lyla is quiet.” Asher said, filling the silence.

“Well duh she’s quiet to you you're a man. She wasn't even allowed to look at you and never mind speak to you.” Sarah said with anger in her voice.

Asher sighed deeply at her anger and Sarah narrowed her eyes at him. Jace let out a low growl letting them know he was becoming upset. Asher eyes flickered to him, a tinge of amber in his eyes. Sarah bowed her head respectfully.  Nora gave Asher a look and he stopped.

“Lyla was…quiet. She kept to herself for the most part. She has no family. Kip murder her mother and then her father when her father lost it over her mothers death. After that Lyla shut down. Stayed to the side lines and the background didn’t want any trouble from anyone.” Sarah said softly.

``What happened with her mother?” Nora asked.

“Kip has always wanted an army. Before he thought about creating them he was wanting to….make them.” Sarah said awkwardly.

“Meaning?” Nora asked, confused.

“Kip was trying to impregnate all women of the pack. He started with the woman who were already mated. Trying to force more control over his pack.  Lyla’s mother was the first. She fought back hard and fiercely. Kip killed her and when the mate bound was broken it collapsed her father. Rage took over and he attacked Kip. After several attempts they killed him. Lyla’s mother was the first but she wasn't the last. Kip tried again with another already mated female and the same thing happened. After the third attempt went wrong. He found a way to start creating his monsters. The pack was going to go against him and his chaos but once he started spawning those things, they cowered in fear.” Asher explained.

Nora looked horrified. Why hasn't anyone stopped him before it went this bad? She glanced over to Sarah who shifted uncomfortably. Part of Nora wanted to ask if she had anything like that happened to her but she wouldn't right now. Not in front of Jace and Asher.

“I was supposed to summon Lyla but I am glad I have not yet.” Nora whispered.

“What I can tell you about the women Luna, is most are broken or scared. There are few that held it together but now you're here and making changes more might step forward to be part of the change. Do not blame the ones that will fall into familiar patterns. They might still be too afraid of the men or that this isn't real. They are some that very , very damaged.  Jaime is someone who is strong. Who always fought. I would suggest talking with Lyla more as well. She might have it in her, but meet with Jaime too.” Sarah explained while she thought out loud.

Nora let out a sigh and brought her leg up to her chest cradling it as she listened to Sarah talk. Her chin resting on her knee. She wished Kip had died slower. Nora’s eyes began to glow as she felt anger bubble in her. Jace looked at her as he felt the anger roll off of her. Cole pushed forward trying to connect with Zara; hoping he could calm her before she forced Nora to shift.

Little wolf Nora isn't ready for that yet. Cole said softly to Zara.

She needs to be. I need out. Zara growled.

She will in time, give her time.  Cole said to her, sending out his aura trying to calm her.

Jace watched Nora shut her eyes as Cole and Zara communicated. The fact that Zara was allowing Cole in was amazing. He was grateful. Nora wasn’t sure what was going on, she could feel Zara becoming angry and restless. She then felt Cole but didn't know what was going on. She felt a calming aura rush over her and she felt Zara settle down.

“Asher names.” Nora said her eyes still shut as she tried to focus on anything else.

“Jordan is someone you need to meet, he would be a strong leader and wants equal rights for both males and females. He has two young daughters and was strongly thinking about leaving. Gabbit is another. I don't know much about Chance but there was always talk about him being a good guy. I second Jaime and also I think Iris.” Asher said, watching Nora closely.

“Gabbit is a pig and Iris broke all the rules but not because she was being a rebel and going against Kip because her mind is shattered.” Sarah said softly.

“Ok So I will meet with Jaime, Jordan and Chance tomorrow morning. I need to appoint someone to oversee the pack’s medicine. Who is your medical person?” Nora said quietly now, holding her head.

Zara became enraged again hearing Sarah talk about Iris. she could only assume her mind was shattered because of unspeakable things that were forced on her. Jace reached out and touched Nora’s shoulder trying to help her.

“Jordan is actually a doctor.” Asher said keep his tone calm.

Sarah no more talk about anything that can upset your Luna. she hasn't shifted before and with the rush of emotions her wolf is trying to force her. We need her to calm down. Jace said, linking Sarah.

Sarah nodded quickly to him letting him know she heard him and would follow his instructions.

“Perfect.” Nora said softly, feeling a headache starting to make its way from the back of her neck up into her head.

“Alpha, did you want to talk about the feast following your appointing the members to their new titles?” Asher asked, Jace shot him a look of anger.

“Asher, I think you and Sarah can handle this. Jace, can we go home? I’m not feeling well.” Nora said going to stand up but wobbled.

Jace pulled her into him and scooped her into his arms. Nora grunted her response in protest but then quickly realized how much better she felt being close to him. Nora sighed, giving and resting her head on his chest.

“We will take care of everything Luna.” Sarah said her voice with a smile in it.

“Alpha, get some rest.” Asher said standing up in respect as Jace began to carry her out.
