CHAPTER 3
~REGINA’S POV~
Our eyes collided in the most intense staring contest in the history of humankind. The air was tense as neither of us was willing to back down for the other.
Every breath we took. Every drop of sweat running down our necks, every thought that ran through our heads, and every rise and fall of our chests was a fight for dominance. A competition where only one victor can emerge victorious.
Emotions rushed through me as I stood in front of him. Emotions that held my soul in a vice grip. Rage. Hatred. Lust. Disgust. The ingredients you would need to create a disaster.
A pair of cloudy-colored eyes, a pair of full lips, a perfectly shaped nose, a short mop of black hair, and 193cm worth of height made up the Alpha of the pack I swore to destroy a long time ago.
“Aren't you going to say something?” I asked with all the nonchalance in the world, my eyes not once leaving him afraid of losing this unspoken competition where the reward is the loser's life.
“No. I like the silence.”
His voice sent a shiver down my spine, followed by the nausea that almost came up my throat.
“Then why did your junkies bring me here?”
“I don't know…”
He stood to his height and walked towards me with slow, confident strides. Each step was a preprogrammed movement, fast enough to approach your enemy and slow enough to dodge their attack.
Silly boy. I wasn't going to attack him. Not yet, at least.
He came to a stop in front of me. My face was mere inches from his chest, and the scent of oak trees and mint filled my nostrils. A combination it didn't know existed but smelled so good.
“...you tell me, princess.”
“I'm not a princess.”
“Of course, you are not. You are a dirty bitch who fights like a man.”
“I'd rather be a dirty bitch that fights for what's right than to be a classy bitch that hides from the truth.”
“What good is there to fight for the truth when everyone else knows it's a lie.”
“A truth that no one knows about is not a lie but a mystery. And when that mystery is solved, the recognition that comes with it is gratifying.”
“Is that what this is about? Recognition?”
“It's about getting justice for everyone in the blue lily pack.”
“If anyone needs justice, it's the Moon Crescent pack.”
“Bullshit! We have suffered in your hands for a hundred years!”
“And we have lost everything to your pack for just as long! Why are you so insufferable anyway?”
“Guess we have something in common, pretty boy.”
“Sorry, I'm not a whore like you…”
A loud smack sound bounced off the walls in the room, and I didn't know what happened till a sharp pain ran through my palm, and his face was tilted to the side.
I slapped him.
Before I could comprehend my next thought, he wrapped his hand around my neck, and just as he was about to lift me off the ground and lead me to my second death, the unthinkable happened.
From the point where his skin came in contact with mine came a surge of lightning, which set all of my insides on fire. My vision was stained red, and a moan fell from my lips.
No. It can't be! It can't be!
A pink hue painted itself across his cheeks, and with widened eyes, he whispered a question to the wind.
“Mate?”
~KILLIAN’S POV~
Regina Shepard is my mate. Regina Shepard is my mate. Regina Shepard, AKA the fucking Queen of War, is my mate!
I dropped her body to the floor and put distance between the two of us as a million questions ran through my mind.
Seven billion people in the world, and I was mated to the one person I want dead—the woman who has led 14 raids on my pack in the past year.
Is this some sick joke, dear goddess?
“You look like you've seen a ghost, pretty boy. Is everything ok?”
I spun around and came face to face with the villain in this twisted story. A blank look was plastered on my face, and although she had a smirk on her lips, it failed to hide the pale complexion of her skin and the pounding of her heart. She's just as nervous as I am. Maybe even more.
“What's got you in a twist? Scared of having a mate?”
The blank expression on my face didn't waver as I spoke with a low voice.
“I'm not scared of having a mate. Hell, I prayed for her to come to me, but even a desperate man like me wouldn't accept a woman like you.”
Her smirk dropped, and an unfamiliar emotion flashed between her eyes, but before I could decipher them, It was gone as quickly as it came. And then she spoke.
“Reject me then.”
The thought struck my soul harder than it was designed to, and although it would be the literal answer to my problems, I couldn't bring myself to do something like that. So, instead of answering, I ignored her and turned to the mirror before me. The man staring back at me looked nothing like the Alpha that walked into the room for 20 minutes.
The former was a man of confidence. He was an enigma to all who watched him. The latter was the pathetic representation of himself, who was torn between killing the woman behind him or taking her against the wall.
“Shit!” I cursed and then punched the mirror in front of me. The blood dripping down my fingers did nothing to ease the anxiety I felt.
I need to talk to Callum.
Just then, the door burst open, and my brother marched into the room with clenched fists and red ey
es filled with anger. His eyes searched till they landed on Regina.
“There you are.”
Oh shit.
CHAPTER 63 After giving the instructions not long enough Dylan came to my office looking tired but immediately it vanished seeing Regina on the couch walking towards her quickly and after checking her body besides the small bruise on her hands they were nothing much which relieved him after that he was towards me asking me what happened I showed him the food which might be one of the reasons we could not feel her wolf and told him how she came back carrying someone in her shoulders who is already in the dungeon and she did not say anything the moment she came back and just went to sleep which shows she was exhausted. But we have to wait for her to wake up before concluding ~~~DYLAN’S POV~~~ After I left Regina I went to clear my head and come back but I could not find her, even her scent stopped in the room showing she did not walk out of her room and there was no clue tho her bed was a little bit messy, so I believed she did not leave, no signs of her in the bathroom and lookin
~~~ KILLIAN'S POV ~~~ Everything just baffled me how did Reginald get there, and the most frustrating part is that his body was not found and Sophia threw a trauma that Regina must die because she was the one who caused all this and all this was weighing on me even tho we won the war there was a division I don't even know where to start from I've been searching for Reginald's body while holding a funeral for those who passed away. While I was heading to my office with Callum, we decided to visit Regina; opening the door, I saw her talking with Dylan. The next thing she was crying, which hurt a lot. We apologized to her and left trying to know our next step. Walking into the office, I looked at Callum. What do you think? I had an ominous feeling that this was just the beginning. There were many more to come. Callum looked at me. “I have the same feeling, and this war was what opened the door for more that is to come”. Ok, let's first rearrange the pack. Then we need to go
~~~ REGINA’S POV~~~***** This is time for me to change what I have done before, I know they will still hate me, especially Sophia but I need to know what am I missing, I guess I was so focused that I overlooked this part, now I need to do this on my own I can't rely on my mates, just myself. I turned to Dylan asking about Michael “he was found dead” “What”!! How about Vivian? “She disappeared, so Callum and Killian are thinking about taking over the park members and also expanding the park, while Sophia left the park after they buried some of the warriors because we could not find Reginald’s body, which is so strange. Maybe it is because he is a human”. Ok, thank you, Dylan, but I need some space to clear my head. Then I will come down and have some food to energize myself. Immediately after the door lock shut, I went to shower and stayed there for up to an hour so my muscles could relax because I've been training in my space and I feel stressed, but it is good to be stronger knowing
~~~REGINA’S POV~~~ ****** Since I woke up, I knew someone was instigating this war, and I started thinking about it again, but I can't seem to get what we were fighting for; from what I have heard, I don't see a reason for the fight. But I know Killian would not just stay without doing anything so the best thing to do is to fight back and as long as we take down the Alpha and his beta the warriors would run away with no one to protect them and then we can investigate further so while the people were being arranged I was with Dylan so we could protect the people because I felt like I don't have the mind to fight some of them because they were innocent while some were wicked but either way I decided to help with the injured one’s so I will go when they have started and watch from the side and see how the outcome would be but it seems like I overestimated myself. Immediately, I heard the war had begun. I was about to leave, but Dylan looked at me. “Are you sure you want to go” Yeah, I c
~~~KILLIAN’S POV~~~Callum met up with me and briefed me on the agreed plan. Although I initially thought the decision should have been mine as the Alpha of the pack, then I realized it was for the pack's well-being. With everything that had happened, swift action was necessary. I immediately informed the warriors to prepare. I appointed Callum to lead them to the border before Alpha Riley's warriors arrived in two hours. I would join them after getting things in check, and once there is an attack, they should call me if I am not there. I immediately mind-linked Callum to come, and to my surprise, he was already here behind me. I nodded at him in support and handed over the task, hoping our plan would be successful. I went to the pack house and it was only ten in the morning and the women and children were moving into the underground pack house. Before the warriors arrived,we should be prepared and everyone should be set.~~MICHEAL’S POV~~***** We are setting out this evening
~~ DYLAN’S POV ~~ As soon as the door was closed, I looked at Killian. Have you ever seen that older man in this town or heard of him? Since you are the Alpha, you should know your people and some people before them; I could see he was thinking, “I don't think I know him because I should have seen him if he was in our pack before the war only a few elders are alive and made it till now, so where is he from and why would they need a dragon’s blood.” From what I know, it is hard to get a dragon’s blood, and once a witch should get it. It means they could destroy every shapehifter or control them and why they use dragon's blood because dragons are the hardest to tame, so you need something of theirs to control them, and their blood is the most vital way to get to them and for them to know there is a dragon here means there is a spy because everyone else found out about it this evening at the banquet and I have not been moving around in the pack except at the training ground o
