Owen's POV.

“Get the doctor here, now!” I ordered no one in particular, but one of the guards standing around scurried after my demand. “Arrange a room.” I said to my Gamma this time.

I watched the unmoving female in my arms. She looked so thin and pale from blood loss. Shit. My wolf stirred within me, panicking and shouting mate which was making me not to think.

When I was 12, our pack got raided. It happened in the night, when I was sleeping. My parents thought I was going to be fine alone with guards littered around while they went to take care of the crisis. And till now, they still regret having left me there because my parents or pack were not the target, I was.

A few of the rogues managed to snuck past the security and warriors, aiming for our home. They had set it on fire, along with I and the guards inside. Most of them lost their lives on the spot and the guard who found me met me halfway burnt on the floor when I tried to make it out. He couldn't make it after saving me.

I was in a comatose state for over a year, not healing. Barely breathing. I took most of the impact and my wolf tried everything to save me whilst saving itself. And in that process, he had to give up something. Which included feeling the mate bond with the potential risks of not finding my mate. Ever.

I still couldn't get the shock out of my system as I stared at the blond. I felt nothing, no pull or spark. Just pure curiosity and concern. But the eyes didn't betray.

“Sweetheart, the bed is ready.” My mom said, gently touching my forearm.

I gulped, nodded and trailed after the guard leading us to the room with my mom by my side. Glancing at me in concern. My eyes, however, remained on her chest. Watching it rise and fall. Her breathing is shallow and short, but I'd take anything at this point.

“Fix her.” I commanded the doctor by the other side of the bed I dropped her on.

“Yes, alpha.” She bowed her head. “What's the curse of injury?”

“An ogre.”

Her eyes widened but she said nothing and began to order her companions.

My mother pulled me by my arm. “Come, dear. Let's give them some space.”

I didn't want to leave her side. I just wanted to keep on watching her breathe, but she had a point. So, I followed her outside and stood outside the transparent door, my eyes on her chest.

My mother sighed. “You should sit.”

“Go check on Logan.”

“Your father is with him. Don't make me repeat myself.” She warned.

I listened to her and stiffly sat on the bench. My Gamma stood a few feets away and I turned to him. “I don't care how many of them are out there, but burn those ogres alive.”

“Yes, Alpha.” He sauntered away, blasting commands to his warriors.

“What are the chances that your mate would be the one who rescued your brother?” My mother nudged my shoulder, joking. Or tried to.

“Close to none.” I replied curtly before casting her a desperate look. “She'll be fine, right?”

She linked our arms together, gently squeezing my hand. “Of course, she would. She's a fighter, after all.”

I nodded tensely.

What should be minutes turned into hours. I sent my mother home and began to pace the hallway. I really didn't know what was wrong, but the troubled look on the nurses who came out and went in kept me disturbed.

Morning came. The doctor stepped out of her room, smiling tiredly at me which I took as a good sign. “She's stable and should be awake soon.”

I sighed in relief inwardly and gave an appreciative nod to the woman. When she left, I walked into her room and stood by the door. Not moving further.

Her eyes closed with an oxygen mask over her face. The machine beeped steadily. And an IV was connected to her hand, one I supposed kept her from being dehydrated.

Satisfied, that she looked okay. I walked out of the room and away from the hospital. Going to my office where I had my bath and changed my clothes. My mom called and told me Logan had woken up so I ignored the paperwork and went home.

When he saw me, he jumped on me. “Owen!”

I closed my eyes, hugging him tightly. I was glad he was okay. “Easy on that leg, tiger.” I ruffled his hair, carefully placing him on the couch.

“That lady saved me!” He said happily.

I exchanged glances with my parents who shrugged. My mother smiled lightly. “He kept asking about her.”

I regarded Logan who nodded. “She's resting, kid. Do you want to tell us what happened back there?”

The smile left his face and tears clouded his eyes. “That monster killed maid Ana. That lady killed the monster and saved me. Another monster showed up but she ran here.” He cried.

Mom stood up from her space beside dad and went to calm him down. My dad bobbed his head towards the foyer. “You did a good job, kiddo.” I praised, kissing his forehead before standing up.

“What happened?” He asked immediately as I stepped into the hallway. “Poor kid is terrified.”

I glanced back at Logan who was chirping happily with mum. “Yeah, but he got us.”

He scanned me. “Your mom said she's your mate.”

“What are the chances, huh?” I chuckled humorlessly.

“Found out where she is from?”

“No,” I shook my head, thinking back to the spitfire that threw my warriors at their feet. “But she has to be from a line of Alphas.”

“Hm. Let me know when you get more updates, son.” He patted my shoulder. “You should go check on your people.”

“Tell Logan I'll be back.” With one last look at the kid, I trudged back to my office. When I got there, my Gamma was already waiting for me. “Everyone is okay?”

“Yes, Alpha. We found three ogres lurking around the main gate but with the traps set, it was easier to put them down.” He responded monotonously.

The first gate was filled with layers of traps. How my mate missed it would forever be a history because Logan wasn't even aware of it. The second gate was for those who escaped the first. Either way, I was glad she did.

“And Mike?” I asked.

Mike, my beta; whom my mate overthrew.

“In the pack house, resting.”

“Okay, you may go.” I waved him off. He bowed and exited my office. I sighed, opening the first paper which was about restocking of foodstuffs. No matter what I did, my mind couldn't leave the blonde.

So, I tried to search her up. There were so many Alpha's daughters, and I narrowed it down to regional Alpha's and there were only two. Northern and Southern. I clicked their pictures and bingo. I finally got a name to the face.

Stella Eve Redmond.

Stella. Stella. Stella. How marvelous. I tilted my head as I read her profile. Stella Redmond, sister to Kormak Redmond. The second best region after mine in the whole of the werewolf realm. Their stats are awfully close to mine which made me a little bit displeased.

She must be one hell of a fighter, then. I smirked. Exactly what I needed.

My mom barged into my office, looking scared. “How many times do I have to tell you to stop blocking us out!!” She screamed. “Your mate is coding.”

I heard nothing more after that as I flew out of my office and drove to the hospital

Stella's POV.“What?” I breathed out, my hand falling limp by my side.I never thought this would happen. Never in a million years did it cross my mind. That it could happen. The lump in my throat grew two times bigger. Numbly, I twisted my head to Cooper. “What did you just say?”However, I didn't think I heard him right. He needed to repeat it. Just to be sure it wasn't my sick mind feeding me the words.“What on earth did you say, Cooper??” My voice came out stronger, harder, meaner. Because…what..??He blew out breath from his lips before repeating it. “She was pregnant. Aria was a month gone before then. Neither she or Kormak had any idea about it. It was a cryptic and early stage pregnancy. So, her baby died before she did. She lost her first child, Stella. The wolfsbane alone was too lethal for it.”This was just ten in the morning and I've heard more bad news than I ever had in a day. My mother killed an unborn and innocent baby. And I? Was the daughter of a murderer.“Don't,

Stella's POV.A groan made me shift my sight from the drip button I was adjusting to him. Kormak groaned again and slowly parted his eyes, but shut it quickly because of the bright light. I stood rooted in my spot, my gaze on his face.He sighed, “can you stop burning my face?” His voice came out scratchy.“No.” I grabbed the cup of water from the center table and passed it to him. “Here, drink.”Kormak struggled as he sat up, not once did I assist him. “Why on earth am I so weak?” He hissed, a frown on his face. “Help me understand that, too brother.” I said, crossing my arms over my chest and glared at him. After he drank the water, he passed the cup back to me. “Dim the light, will you? My eyes and brain seemed fried.” Kormak grunted.“Yet again, I wonder why.” I sassed, but did as he wanted. When I saw how confused he looked, I heaved out a breath and asked. “How do you feel?”He didn't acknowledge my question and asked me. “Why exactly am I here?” He raised his hand towards his

Stella's POV.Surprisingly, I woke up quite early in the morning. The night was pretty much well spent. Now, I felt like I could conquer the world. Stretching, I stood up from my bed and went to freshen up. I should stop by at Kormak's home quick before Owen got up. I hurriedly scrubbed my body before shrugging on a white shorts, white t-shirt, and blue sweatshirt to go with. I loved the way it complimented my skin and matched my eyes. My hair remained on a messy bun with tendrils fallen over my face. Feeling satisfied with how I looked, I grabbed my phone and exited the room.Quietly, I trudged down the stairs and to the kitchen. It was after six, Kormak should be up by now. A scream tore out of my throat when I saw someone in the kitchen. “You good?” Owen asked, getting up from the stool he occupied and to my side.I removed my hand from my chest, “what do you think? You frightened me.”“I apologize. But you should know that I stay here too.”I glanced up at him. The bright light

Stella's.Cooper let go of me and we both looked at Owen. Leaving his side, I stood beside my mate and passed him a soft smile before looking back at Cooper. “This is—”“I do know who he is,” Cooper said, cutting me off. I kissed my tongue and glared at him but he only winked back. The nerve of this guy. Right in front of my mate. An alpha for that matter. “Alpha Owen, I'm Cooper Stevenson, beta of Grandiose Apex.”Owen shook his outstretched hand, his face emotionless and his mouth set on a straight line. “Nice to meet you.”Lie. It was so obvious he didn't fancy Cooper, but due to the fact that he was family, he wasn't on his pack ground and he respected him, he kept it to himself. A definite alpha way.Copper nodded and stepped aside, his hand now stretched to the hallway before us. “Please, allow me to lead you to the guest house.”“Nuh-uh.” I stepped in-between them. “He stays with me.” I peered up at Owen whose eyes never once drifted from me. “Right?”Cooper looked between us.

Stella's POV.Owen's gaze lingered on me. The barely lit room spinned around me and I staggered, my breath became laboured. Owen hurriedly held me and slowly guided my butt to the bed. Dead. Coma. The two words swirled in my brain like a tsunami, and all I could see was Aria’s body laid on Kormak's lap and her chest not moving. And I hated that. No, Aria was the number one person who truly knew me and loved me despite it all. I needed Aria to be okay because that was the only way I could be okay, too.She died, I died. That was the way I saw it.It was as if I was electrocuted back to life. I abruptly stood up and stared up at Owen, I clawed on his forearm, constantly repeating Aria's name. He got the memo and pulled on my wrist. I had no idea when we got downstairs or how we got into his car. Everything felt like a haze daze. And I wanted out.Because I badly needed Aria to be okay. I couldn't even begin to think about what Kormak could be going through right now.He needed me. Th

Stella's POV. I usually wake up early everyday. I mean, I was a doctor and it required me to always be on my feet. Up and ready. So, tell me, what on earth Owen added to the food that had me getting up at 10 am today?? Bruv, I had no idea when 8 am passed me by. Gosh. I didn't like this, honestly. But some part of me did need the break because I felt refreshed, like I could carry the world on my shoulders. With nothing to wear, I only brushed my teeth and washed my face before going downstairs in Owen's boxer and shirt that was big on me. I couldn't possibly sleep in what I wore yesterday. By the time I appeared at the top of the stairs, I began to wonder if Owen was in because I heard not a noise, the lights in the hallway were turned off too. With my mouth pushed to the side, I gingerly walked down the stairs, peeking through the glass railing. The kitchen was also empty and when I got to the living room, I found it empty, too. Did he seriously leave me here alone with n
