Chapter 22

Nicholas' Pov

I stepped on the balcony leading to the entrance of my office, ready to welcome Clara's father.

Clara was probably making up in the room. She took time to come out.

Besides, she was not my Luna. She could stand by my side to welcome her father. She would wait in the reception or stay behind in her room and wait till I called her out.

Three black limousines packed in front of me and a man in suit came out from the driver's seat of the middle one.

He opened the door and stood vigilantly by the side of the car.

 A and a short and stunted man popped out from the owner’s seat.

Alpha Carl…The Alpha of Moon Light pack and Clara's father. Today was my first time setting my sights on him.

I had heard tales of his ruthlessness amd bravery, but I had never crossed paths with him before.

Clara was his carbon copy.

They both had rounded eyes, thich eyes brows and small lips. 

The man in front of me had an unconcerned look on his face. He walked closer to where I was and inspected me with a stern face. 

“Welcome, Alpha Carl.” I greeted Clara’s father by extending my hands. 

“Thank you, Nicholas,” he acknowledged my greeting by shaking my hand and climbing up to the pavement.

The grey haired man had gotten my number and called yesterday, telling me he'd he here today.

He did not tell me the reason for his visit and when I asked Clara, she kept beating around the bush.

I welcomed him into my office.

“Beer?” I asked the old man.

“No.” He politely refused. “Thank you.”

I sat on my office table and pretended to go through my laptop, trying to ease the tension.

“I need your attention.” Clara's father had a serious look on his face. 

I closed my laptop and gave him my attention.

“My daughter, Clara. She mentioned that you are the father of her children.”

“I think so,” I echoed.

Alpha Carl looked at me with blood shot eyes. “You think so?”

“I mean. She says I am. It has not been confirmed that she is saying the truth.” I gave him back a rude energy.

“Now you listen you me, you tramp. If anything happens to my daughter, you're going to pay for it!” Clara's father stood up and pounded the table with his wrists. 

“I never denied your daughter. If I denied her, I would have never let her come into my pack. I have offered her a big room, the best ante natal midwives, maids, money and a whole lot. You should be thanking me for extending my hands even when there's no certainty.” I was very calm.

“When's the wedding. Have you fixed a date? Have you told the council?” Clara's father wanted me to marry his daughter. 

“Theres no wedding. Yet! After Clara puts to bed. I will conduct a test. If the baby is mine, then I'd do the needful.” 

Clara's father was still not convinced. “Clara is my only child. I have to make sure she's well taken care of wherever she is.”

“I never said anything about maltreatment. I have a Luna. We are still together and we should be expecting a pup. All alphas make mistakes.”

“Besides..I have bigger problems on my hands. A rogue came from the direction of your pack. It refused to talk to us after we had tied it down to question it. It kept mentioning one name. Alpha Carl…Carl.. were it's last words. Do you have anything to say about that?” I questioned Clara's father.

I had intended to schedule a meeting with him to ask him about this. So when I got a call from him, informing me of his visit, I was happy.

My brother, Landon and Alpha Liam had managed to asssit me in catching two rogues.

They were still locked up in the dungeons. We tortured them and they would not speak. One, however, managed to say something.

He kept calling Carla's father's name.

Carla's father scowled at me. He was not happy that I had challenged him. “How dare you try to question me. I think you–”

Alpha Carl had not finished speaking when Carla barged into the office.

Clara's Point Of View 

“Daddy!!”

I came into the office and I hugged my father. I missed him so much.

My father turned around to hug me too. 

“My baby.” I could swear I saw Nicholas shaking his head in jealousy.

“I was going to come but then I fell ill with morning sickness. Sorry daddy. Welcome.” I leaned in to hug him.

He was very happy to see me. We had only spoken for ten minutes when there was commotion outside the pack. 

“The rogues. Rogues!!” I heard a pack guard yell from outside.

I shrieked in terror. I wanted to run out the door when my dad held me.“Stay back, Clara. Stay inside.!!”

My father and Nicholas ran outside. Nicholas had already cocked his gun and he held it in his hands with him.

I still disobeyed my father by tiptoeing behind them. 

I stood by the big window overlooking outside the pack to watch.

Two rogues that looked like vampires were attacking the guards and they were circled.

They looked so rough and dirty! Ewww…

Why should a pregnant lady be subjected to seeing such a terror?

I could puke right now.

Nicholas tried to shoot one of them but the bullet could not penetrate it's body.

It was bulletproof.

It shrieked and charged towards Nicholas. It pounced on Nicholas. It began ripping Nicholas' clothes off while the other one charged towards Nicholas' gamma.

Nicholas' gamma swerved when the rogue wanted to hug him. He somehow succeeded to put the rogue's hands behind it's back.

When the gamma had conquered the rogue, other warriors brought ropes and they tied up the rogue.

The other rogue, seeing that the other rogue had been defeated, tried to charge toward the gamma but the gamma used the same tactic and it was tied down.

Nicholas had began to question the rogues. 

After a failed series of questioning, he bsgn to toture them. One refused to speak while the other one kept pointing at the pack.

“The person thay sent us…is in there….”

“The person is….”

My father suddenly walked up to the talking rogue, brought out his sword and chopped off it's head.

Good! 

That will teach that rogue.

“Why. Why did you kill it, Alpha Carl?” Nicholas screeched at my father.

“It is dangerous. What it it charged at me?” 

“Are you damn serious? We had them all tied up. It's obvious this is a new type of rogue. Bullets don't penetrate its skin. You would have allowed me to question it!!” Nicholas punched the wall twice.

Nicholas’ gamma then hissed. My father felt embarassed. 

Nicholas walked away from the scene. He was coming back intot he office with his gamma. The ther warriors took the quiet rogue away.

I guessed they were taking him to the dungeons. 

“I think I need to take my leave.” My father began walking towards his cars.

What? My father was leaving.

This is all your fault, Nicholas. 

I ran outside to chase after my father. Before he came, he told me he had a task for me. He said if I fulfilled it, he would reward me greatly. 

He could not leave without telling me what it was….
