This was achieved through the union of Princess Saskia and Alpha Mikael. However, the infection among the werewolf packs has only grown stronger since the ascension of the new Alpha. The supernatural world is currently on the brink of falling apart. War is closer than ever as corrupted werewolves escape the grasps of their vampire lords; chaos is bound to ensue.*Saskia accepted her fate in her new pack and was willing to do all that was needed of her as Luna until she had her title stripped away by
☾☾☾ SASKIA'S POV ☽☽☽ The rogue's claws scratch at my neck, drawing thin streaks of blood, and I hiss in apprehension, ready to retaliate. My blade glints wickedly as I slash at the canine twice at the neck, then deliver a deathly stab to its vulnerable heart. I can't help but flinch slightly when I hear its fury as it howls out in pain while great torrents of blood spurt out of its wounds forcefully. "Princess! Duck!" I twist my body and head just in time to dodge the dogging beast that had hurled itself at me, crashing into a spindly tree that falls on impact. I had been too occupied by the dying wolf that I lost focus on my surroundings. "He's their Alpha," I growl out a warning to my men who hurry to take formation as planned, enclosing on the three remaining wolves who have somehow found a place to hide for the time being. "Stay in positions!" "Yes, princess." The same voice says, and I turn to fix a hard glare on the annoying fool who has suddenly materialised at my side. It
☾☾☾SASKIA'S POV☽☽☽"Really, I am so proud of you, Saskia." He says, leading the way into the house after the wolves have returned to the training quarters with the excuses of ridding the adrenaline rush built up from the fight by getting in some practice.I had only scoffed at their lies as it was clear that no practices would be held. Not when the secret door in the challenge court existed, and I was certain as I had caught them throwing loud, illicit parties a few times—even joined them a couple of lonely days when I was drunk deep in the sorrows of my single life."You know that, don't you?" The Alpha asks unnecessarily as he paces around the poorly lit room, which has served as the spot where he does his meditations for as long as my memory holds true. And it suddenly hits me all over in a rush how much I hate the echoing emptiness of it all."Thank you, Alpha," I reply placidly, without a trace of emotions on my face. I want him to be proud of me, but not for this. Not for agre
☾☾☾SASKIA'S POV☽☽☽My hair furiously whips back in my face—courtesy of the dumb wind—as I lean on the window with my eyes shut, wishing I could launch myself out of the vehicle and back to Kansas City instead of being stuck on a hellish ride to Edmonton, fucking Canada. It's been hours since my waking, but I still can't believe a sleeping tonic had been mixed in my orange juice at breakfast. This, of course, was so I wouldn't be conscious when we left Missouri and, probably in my father's opinion, would not be able to escape.Without spelling out the obvious, however, it meant I was unable to say goodbye to those I'd planned to a day ago. Setting the betrayal aside, what hurts almost as much as it does is the lack of faith in me. It's unbelievable that even though I chose to marry the Alpha myself, I am not given the benefit of the doubt that I would keep my words.Sighing, I take a sip from the bottle of water by my side and try to think happy thoughts. The effort, nonetheless, is
☾☾☾SASKIA'S POV☽☽☽The snow is thick and up to my calves in profuse blankets of wet ice crystals. I trudge forward through the sea of blinding brightness while cringing at the thought of my shoes losing the glue holding their soles after this ordeal."Am I the sole person here who thinks it might not be too late to escape?" Wade groans as his left sneaker gets stolen off his foot by the thick, pale field."I wish." I huff then grin at the sight of him hopping on one foot as he shakes his now wet shoe. Serves him right. I think as I make my way ahead of his loitering figure and towards the supermarket a few metres ahead of us.If I could, I would escape; maybe run away to a new country, or a new continent or even a new world. I honestly wish to find a place yet undiscovered by the cruel, selfish reaches of humans and supernatural beings alike. The planet earth has been gradually destroyed by its creatures for ages, and it saddens me to see the consequences slowly unveiling themselves
☾☾☾ SASKIA'S POV ☽☽☽ "Forgive me, dearest." He says, without making any efforts to sound or seem remorseful. After pulling me out of the car, his grip finally loosens on my arm. I am about to breathe a sigh of relief when he swings his hand back and interlocks his fingers in mine. "What the hell are you doing?" I spit through clenched teeth. He grins crookedly at me, all crisp, perfect teeth on display. I yank my hand from his hold, but he squeezes my fingers tightly then clasps his right arm around my waist, pulling me smack against his side. Gasping, I insert a hand between his rib and my chest to add in enough space for my sanity while terribly hoping that my face has not turned scarlet like a red LED bulb. That would be embarrassing. Gulping in oxygen, I nearly gag, as the air, to my dismay, is thick with his scent—mainly of musk and amber, and like he'd frolicked in the woods. I overlook how they wrap around me, clogging every open orifice, and instead wait for his answer.
☽☽☽MIKAEL'S POV☾☾☾Ah, a mhuirnín.She is fighting me—my darling. I can't help but be amused. Piscín fiáin. A very wild kitten she is. She butts heads with me straight on, but at the same time, she is fleeing. I see her trying to escape from me. What a sight... It reminds me, say, of prey running from a predator. In the meantime, it's alright, almost fun and games for the racing deer. But as soon as it stops, for a mere second, to rest or to catch its breath, the beast swoops in on it for devouring. It will only be a while before she tires and returns to where I want her to be. Then, I will consume her like a fire does a moth.I've met women like her before. Women so painfully beautiful, it physically hurt a man. They act tough at first, pretending and denying their attraction to me, but eventually, they give in.At the end of their charade, they are on their knees begging. It does not take them long to realise that I am the one who can save them; sex was usually, merely, a gatekeepe
☾☾☾SASKIA'S POV☽☽☽"Where are we going?" I look him over as we narrowly slide past a yellow light. His side view is even more impressive than I thought; strong jawline, a bold nose and set cheekbones that must have been harshly contoured in by a deity. It goes without saying that he is a painfully attractive man who calmly exudes control and confidence without even trying. Watching him manoeuvre past slower cars with such sensuous coolheadedness makes me fill up with a desire to see him naked, lying next to me or inside—Shit.Get your head back in the game Saskia. I scold internally. It's only been a day since you were with Sage, and now you're letting yourself drip over a man you just met. What the hell?"Don't worry yourself," he replies at last, and I realise that he'd been quiet for quite a while. I shiver slightly, and a prickle bumps over my skin. It's as if the atmosphere in the car has shifted into one completely devoid of a sliver of warmth. I'm not sure why, but I know who
