Chapter 40: Somewhere In His Heart

LUTHER’S efforts, his honesty, his vulnerability which he only seems to reveal in front of me, his guts, his heart: scarred but bold, I found all of them attractive. Tonight, he made sure that no threat will ever reach me. He lets me fight because he knew I could win.

When I look at him, I could see this strange faith he had in me. I didn’t even know where it came from. And if ever I don’t win, he would be behind me as if to make sure that I would still achieve victory.

Like the wolves that we saved, Luther was wounded, too. I couldn’t see his wounds. But I knew they exist. Somewhere in his heart, I knew they were there. It was just sad that the cause of his wounds were not his enemies, but his own family. And this battle will keep scarring him.

As we go on, the more he fights, the more he finds out the truth, the greater and bigger his wounds will be. He knew that. Still, the determination in his eyes didn’t fade away.

Because like me, he wanted to see this through until the end.
