Chapter 50. Helena POV
Alexander and I headed to the castle courtyard together, my hand resting on his firm arm as he formally escorted me to greet our arrival. In his white shirt and jet black cloak he reminded me of a wild pirate, his hair blowing back into the wind and his eyes narrowed in suspicion.
Leaving the sanctuary of the castle, into the bright sunshine of the square courtyard felt like walking towards a firing squad. The half-dozen Beta’s we had just spoken to was close to the vehicles. To others they were offering a friendly welcome and asking about the drive, we knew that one gesture and they would all be pinned and arrested.
Annoyingly, a large crowd of omegas, servants and others had gathered around the edges of the large square, eager to see who arrived in such triumphant style. Fyre nudged me and as I breezed through the group, ready to greet the newcomers I saw the red hair of Ivan bobbing through the mass of people.

He slowly moved to stand next to Bella as she lay crouched on the floor. Her eyes now stared sadly at the floor. I could see her hands shaking though, she was absolutely terrified. "Alpha Francis!" a female voice rang out as Azalea ran forward from within the crowd, embracing him like a father. He clutched her to him tightly, then held her face, staring deeply into her eyes before softly kissing her forehead. Ivan followed behind clapping his hands, a huge smile on his face. He didn't even give me a look as he walked towards his somewhat father-in-law, clearly taken with the exotic charisma he had on display. "Hurrah for Alpha Francis! He has recaptured the escapee! What a miracle!" Azalea cheered. She thrust her hands into the air to stimulate a ripple of applause from the crowd. I heard murmurs amongst the rabble of 'East Wall' and other such threats. No wonder Bella was shaking. Alpha Francis gave Azalea another kiss on the forehead in thanks

I never did get offered any more food. Less than an hour after Alpha Francis and his crazy blue eyes came to question me I was bundled into the back of a large transport van. He came to watch though, still dressed entirely in white, his arms folded like a Roman emperor as I tried to resist his heavy-handed Beta goon. "Bella, tell me who you came here with, it's a simple enough question," he said again, this time the irritation in his voice barely concealed. "I came alone," I muttered in between struggling and wriggling between the arms of his Beta who held me in a wrestling grip. "Take out the chair then, she can rattle around in the back," and with a wave of his hand, he disappeared. I lost all concept of time as I rolled around mercilessly in the back of that van. The gravelled roads I'd enjoyed travelling down whilst gripping Lucien's delicious body on the motorcycle were now torture. I held onto the door handles as much as I could but I got a sense the Beta driver enjoyed hearing my squeals as tight corners sent me spinning into the metal walls. The drive was relentless, only stopping for the briefest toilet breaks. They must have been driving in shifts to ensure no rest stops. The following hours saw me flit in and out of eating and sleeping, unaware of time or even what day it was. Every time I emptied my plate and fell asleep I'd wake up and find another fully loaded bowl of food ready for me. Someone was taking pity on me, and I was eternally grateful for it. Speedily washed, fed and in fresh clean clothes, I felt like a completely different person. Gitte was constantly on alert looking out for Lucien. I shook Alexander awake the night after Alpha Francis’ arrival before the sun was even up. The commitment ceremony was tomorrow, and we had a full day of Alpha Francis and his creepy intensity to juggle. Sleep had come in fits and starts as the visions became more vivid, more gruesome as Alexander remained lying in a pool of blood with the huge assassin looming. The only extra information I had been able to glean from the visions was that the dress plummeting over the side was of dark blue material and the sun was low in the sky as if it were evening.
