Ame POV

Healing Calian has brought me to exhaustion, perhaps I was a little too enthusiastic with the

dousing of the wolf teddy in wolfsbane. I chuckle to myself, slowly stirring from my sleep to find Balgaire not sharing in my humour.

He sits at the end of my bed, frantically typing away on his phone as a growl escapes him. His

growl silences my laughter immediately; I can tell he is angry at me.

Hisgrowl silences my laughter immediately; I can tell he is angry at me.My eyes search the room, something seems different and then I realise what he has done. Thewardrobe and drawers are completely empty, with bags located by his feet. I’m surprised he needs two bags, I certainly didn’t come with many things. I travelled light for a reason.“What are you doing?” I slowly sit up, plumping the pillow behind me as I pull the covers up to my neck. The aftereffects of using my abilities are still evident in my body. My bones ache and my head is fuzzy. I need to replenishment my energy levels as a matter of urgency.“I’m taking you home with me.” He sighs out, sti

Calian POVThe flames eat me alive, my entire body on fire from the poison. My wolf refuses to leave me, remaining forward with me throughout the ordeal as I hear the screams of familiar voices around me.The excruciating pain intensifies as I remain trapped in my own personal hell, begging for my wolf to protect himself…then silence.Surely only death can be this silent, this peaceful. The pain remains; however, it doesn’t sting as it did before. I can start to regulate my breathing again. Start to gain more consciousness as the second’s pass.A feeling of warmth spreads through me, one that I have never experienced before and in this moment, I take the time to double check if I am already dead.A memory surfaces of the moment of my death, the faces of allied alphas and lunas staring back at me as the poison grippled my body. As the pain continues to reduce, my account on the event becomes clearer.I remember I picked up the wolf teddy, the toy that must have been doused with the poi

  • The Luna’s Return: Avenging her lost son   Chapter 68 – Torn between revenge and his gaze

Ame POVWhen I reach the hospital, I find that the chaos surrounding the stage area has migrated into the medical wards. Doctors and hospital staff rush around as their alpha convulses on the gurney in the centre of the room.It is like stepping into a war zone.Carnage.Doctors argue with one another on the best course of action; medical staff rally around placing wet cloths on the alpha’s body to try and control his rising body temperature. Is this what I looked like…as I fought for my life.“I can’t find a vein.” The doctor in charge of Athan’s care roars out in frustration, as he searches relentlessly to insert a drip into Calian’s blood supply.“Water!” Balgaire orders out by my side, my head turning to face him. His heated gaze is on me, not once leaving me even as the doctor’s ask him to repeat himself. I can feel his eyes trying to search into my soul, trying to find a hint of remorse for what I have done.“What did you say?” The doctor presses again.“Water…you need to flus

  • The Luna’s Return: Avenging her lost son   Chapter 67 - Superheroes do not exist

Ame POV I wait until his eyes find mine in the sea of guests, the pure satisfaction coursing through me…the justice of knowing that I have finally reaped the seeds of my revenge. For what he did to me, I have now done to him. Let the poison attack him organ by organ, let his wolf wail out in pain as he slowly takes him. A little longer and he will be begging for death. Let him die. I hope my eyes are the last thing he sees, I hope he is punished for his crimes against me in his afterlife. The pack cries out around me, utter chaos erupting as guests start to evacuate…words of the alpha having been poisoned spreading on their lips. How it isn’t safe to remain. The chaos is even better than I could have planned, Dessa’s luna ceremony crashing before her very eyes. I turn to leave; I am far from done. There is still lots to do. I move into the directions of the alpha house taking a few steps only to be pulled backwards by Balgaire. His expression confuses me; I thought

  • The Luna’s Return: Avenging her lost son   Chapter 66 - Wolf Teddy

Calian POV I walk through the crowd, up the stage where members of the werewolf council place their hands out for me to shake. Soft music starts to play in the background, becoming louder as the crowd starts to part to reveal Dessa walking in a white flowing dress, Athan in a tux by her side. She walks with a bouquet of flowers in her hands…my eyes slam shut as whispers start to stir again in the crowd. “Is this a wedding as well..” Luna Esta’s voice is hard to miss even over the rising ambience. For fuck’s sake. I specifically told her that it was a luna inauguration and not a wedding, yet she walks down the guest created aisle as they part to the sides, our son escorting her. I can’t deny how beautiful she looks, how wonderful they both look…quite the pair. They make it to the bottom of the stage, where she places a handout for me to assist her up the steps, her long train of her dress behind her. Biting down on the groan that wants to escape me for the spectacle, I move to

Calian POV “Calian darling, you look wonderful.” One of the senior lunas makes her way through the crowd to find me. Her hand resting upon my elbow to gain my attention. She was in her early seventies, her grandson now the alpha of her lands. She may not be an active luna nowadays but she still holds the utmost respect amongst the alpha families, her mate was a good friend of my grandfather.“Thank you Luna Esta, as do you.” I bend down, planting a kiss on the side of her cheek. If there was a leader amongst the lunas then Esta was it. It was her approval that all the new lunas wanted, and she didn’t just bestow it upon anyone.I can see that she has taken Dessa’s dress code seriously, in fact everybody has…even my own pack members.“Well, where is she?” She looks to the crowd, her head trying to rise high enough to see over the swarm of guests, searching for Dessa.“Dessa?” She hasn’t joined me yet, to think of it neither has Athan. The proceedings are about to begin, what is takin
