Darius’s POV

She was the star of the party.

When she walked down the staircase with her head held up high and her smile, that smile seemed to have done something to me.

“Mine,” Magnus, my wolf, growled in my head, and my eyes narrowed at her as my frown deepened.

“What do you mean by mine?” I asked back, head tilting slightly to the side as I watched her hug Ivy.

“She is ours, Darius,” Magnus replied.

I clenched my hand, not understanding what my wolf was implying, but hell, that scent of hers had been driving me crazy since last night.

“That is impossible. She already has a mate.” I sneered.

My eyes darkened as the supposed mate walked up to her and held her hand, but Ivy refused to let her go.

Good girl, Ivy, keep her right there.

“I don’t know what is happening, but I’m not mistaken. She belongs to us” I could feel Magnus slowly break out of my restraint, wanting to rush out and claim her right there.

I stroked my chin, managing to keep him in check. What exactly was this girl?

“Alpha Darius, some packs are requesting an audience with you,” Ezra, my second in command and beta, said with a bow, and I waved my hand, dismissing him.

I hated socializing with people. He should know this by now.

“The Emberfang Nation is among them,” he said.

Despite his head down, I knew he was smirking when I turned to him, my interest now piqued.

“That girl’s pack?” I asked, watching her as she walked with her mate. She seemed to have said something to Ivy, because Ivy ran up to my side with a smug expression.

Silly girl.

“Yes Alpha,” Ezra replied.

“Darius, Darius, did you see her? Isn’t she really pretty” Ivy held my hand as she jumped. I shook my head and carried her up before giving her cheek a pinch.

“Then why did you leave her?” I asked, and she giggled.

“She promised to play with me later,” Ivy said, grinning.

I stroked her head before putting her down. I nodded at Diana, who was by her side to take her away, and when Ivy was out of reach, I turned to Ezra.

“Did you look into what I asked?” I asked.

Yesterday’s incident wasn’t a mistake. Apart from Ivy and that girl’s scent, there was another scent at the lake. The scent of a rogue wolf, and that only meant one thing.

“Yes, Alpha. We are tracking the scent at the moment. It seems like it’s not an ordinary rogue if they could hide themselves well,” Ezra replied, and I smiled.

“Find them before the night ends.” I sneered.

Let’s see the rouges stupid enough to mess with me and most especially the person behind them.

“Understood, sir,” he answered.

“Oh,” I exclaimed, causing Ezra to stop as I turned to the girl, my lips tilting up into a smirk. “Find out more information about her. I need even a little piece of information.”

“Stop freaking watching and get close to our mate.” A few minutes of just standing there, I heard Magnus growl in my head, but it sounded more like a longing.

Rolling my eyes, I brought the drink to my lips, watching as she glanced my way and our eyes met for a second before she looked away in surprise.

“You know you look like a damn creep right,” Magus said, getting impatient and I could feel it, but I stood there waiting for an opportunity.

My opportunity came when someone splashed a drink at her in what I assumed to be a mistake, but the tiny smirk on her lips said otherwise.

She looked at the girl with a frown but held back her anger before smiling and heading to the bathroom.

I moved away from the wall and followed her as she walked into the bathroom.

My eyes were on her, the way she bent to take the tissue to wipe her dress, the way her dress showed every hint of her curves. Her mere presence alone had been driving me crazy for a while now. She was the first woman that had this much effect on me.

It was amusing that she hadn’t noticed my presence at the door. I guess she didn’t have a wolf. She sighed and finally turned around. That was when our eyes met.

I smirked when I saw her a bewildered look. She muttered shit under and breath and tried to walk past me like I was invisible. It was not like she didn’t know who I was. I chuckled darkly as she brushed past me, heading for the door; so I was being ignored now?

I closed the distance in a single stride, reaching for her shoulders and pressing her back against the wall. She gasped and her pretty blue eyes practically shot up in surprise. Her lips parted as my body pinned her there, leaving no space between us, barely an inch for her to breathe. I could feel her warmth, the slight hitch of her breath as her chest rose and fell against mine.

“You-” she tried to say, but I tilted her head to the side and leaned against her neck, sniffing her intoxicating scent.

I leaned back, a mischievous smile playing at my lips as my eyes locked onto hers.

She really was my mate

“W-what do you think you are doing?” She looked flushed, trying to pull away.

I smirked, leaning in closer.

“What do you think I’m doing?” I asked in a teasing voice.

Just as I was about to tease her further, the sound of footsteps echoed outside the bathroom door. I glanced at the door, and her eyes widened in alarm, realization dawning as she tried to squirm away.

Aurora’s POV It’s been two months since the battle. Blood had soaked the earth and Alaric’s reign of terror ended along with his life.I felt lighter now, free of fear and secrets. I could finally clear my thoughts of every revenge and hatred I had bottled in for a long while.Alaric was gone. He was killed during the attack. Darius gave him a chance to surrender and face the consequences of his actions but he had pronounced outrightly that he wouldn't be taken alive. The final blow was eventually delivered by Darius himself. A clean, brutal end for a man who never knew mercy. The council had declared the matter closed, and the werewolf world turned a new page.Kieran and Avery left the Emberfang pack willingly when they heard Ezra would be taking over. I hadn’t spoken to either of them, and I didn’t plan to. Aria had vanished shortly after. Rumor had it she left the country. No one knew her exact location and to be honest, I didn’t care. Ezra was now the Alpha of Emberfang, and it

Aurora’s Pov “Fine. I’ll tell you the truth.”The words came out of Alaric’s mouth like venom, slow, deliberate, and without no hint of remorse in his voice. I knew he was relishing and anticipating the emotions that would gush from me once he starts spilling out the truth. I stood still, my heartbeat pounding in my ears as I stared at the man I had once looked up to and called father. He ran his tongue along his lower lip and I could see the faint curl of satisfaction in the corner of his lips. I was right about my speculations, he was definitely enjoying this.“I massacred them,” he began with a low unapologetic voice that was devoid of remorse. “Your entire pack.”“The Silvercrest pack burned because I made it so. I took you with me because even then, I knew you’d be useful but now if I could go back…” he sneered, stepping closer to me with a mocking face, “I’d have killed you right there next to your weakass Alpha father.”The air left my lungs in one sharp exhale. My fingers cu

Aurora’s PovThe morning after Darius proposed still felt so surreal. Months back, if anyone had told me I would be waking up in Darius’s bed with a Paraíba Tourmalines ring in my finger, I definitely would have scoffed at them. I kept staring at the ring on my finger like it was a dream I might wake up from. Every time I turned my hand, the soft glint of the moonstone caught the light, reminding me it wasn’t a dream. I was engaged. To Darius.I wasn’t sure what scared me more. How much I loved him or how deeply he’d rooted himself in my life. He had moved my things to his room saying he sleeps better with me by his side. Waking up daily to see his face felt like the final jigsaw in my life that was missing and now he had officially announced me to be his. I felt him stir beside him, raising up head to look at him. He smiled at me and my heart sang with delight. “Good morning, Sunshine,” he pulled me into a warm kiss before I could respond.Pulling back from the kiss, I smiled shee

  • The Luna's Second Chance   97. Engagement

Aurora's POV I still couldn’t believe how fast things had changed between Darius and me. It felt surreal. Waking up each morning in his arms, feeling Terra curled in satisfaction inside me, and knowing I wasn’t just someone passing through anymore. I was home. Not just in the Lunaris Dominion pack, but with him.We were dating. Officially. And for the first time in my life, that didn’t terrify me.But then Darius dropped a bomb on me.“I want to announce about you being my mate during the summit period,” he said one afternoon while at Northshore University Hospital in his office sipping coffee after a quickie. I nearly dropped my cup.It wasn't news at the hospital that we were now dating and I was one of the people heading the hospital.“Excuse me?” I blinked. He turned to me, calm and unwavering, like he wasn’t just suggesting one of the most dramatic public declarations that would bring up lots of questions in both human and werewolves world. “I want to tell them all at the dinn

  • The Luna's Second Chance   96. Vulnerable Hearts

Aurora's POV I shut my eyes, avoiding looking into his eyes, I felt his fingertip trace my lips reverently. Whatever was going through his head, I wanted it as well. I parted my lips to say something. Anything. To tell him I also wanted it but before words could come out, his mouth captured mine, kissing me deeply. His tongue traced the soft fullness of her lips before capturing it again. Relieved he was alive, the warmth I didn't know I needed and Terra's emotion seeping into mine broke down my wall. The tears prickling in eyes that I had fought to blinked away came rolling down my cheeks. The moment our lips parted, I sniffled and quickly wiped them away, trying to breathe, to smile, to pretend everything was okay. But Darius had already seen them. His brows furrowed immediately, and the warmth in his eyes shifted to concern.“I’m sorry,” he said in a low, urgent tone, pulling back slightly. “I shouldn’t have kissed you. Not like that. I got carried away. I…”“No,” I whispered,

  • The Luna's Second Chance   95. Poison and Confession

Aurora’s Pov The summit was meant to be in a month's time and as it draws nearer, I can't help but have this uneasiness, my stomach churning just thinking about it. The entire pack was buzzing with activity. Meetings were held at odd hours, warriors trained longer and harder, and every high-ranking wolf had something to contribute to the logistics. I had no interest in politics, but Darius asked me to help him and Ezra with the coordination. So, I did even though all my instinct screamed against it.I thought the uneasiness would stop since I was helping oversee the preparation but it wasn’t helping matters. I can't help but shake off the feeling something bad was going to happen. Between my hospital shifts, werewolf medicine training, and building networks with other doctors and businessmen with Darius, I found time to organize files, read through reports, and even schedule meetings with the event planners. It was overwhelming at times, but I couldn't deny the strange sense of pri
