BREA POV

I was a ball of vibrating, petrified nerves.

The large room was so crowded that it made me feel claustrophobic, despite having ample space to breathe.

My mind kept flashing to the twisted face that tortured me for days. It wasn’t Oliver's face, but I know it was Oliver's body.

Those red eyes. I see them whenever I close my own.

“Brea?” Aria’s soft voice pulls me back.

I gave my head a shake. I couldn’t stop my body from trembling, but I needed them to know the truth. If I were to be punished for my part, no matter how minor it was, I had to accept it. My wolf wanted forgiveness from the Goddess for our silence in this, and I owed her that much.

“Sorry, I just—” I started.

“Hey, it’s okay. Take your time and remember to breathe. No one is going to hurt you here.” Aria had such a calming presence. It made me wonder why I spent so many years in the shadows of those I called my friends and did not try to get closer to Aria and Frankie.

OLIVER POVI smiled bitterly. “A lot of good it did. I still died.”“Are you sure about that, Oliver?” She asked back.“We’re here, aren’t we?” I waved my hand in the air, pointing to the surroundings of her blessed Meadow. The Moon Goddess nods and smiles thoughtfully. “Indeed, we are here. But my intent is not to claim you, Oliver. I have an offer to make. A new direction for someone who sees the potential in helping others in the future.”I furrowed my brow. I rose to my feet, dusting myself off.“What offer?”“I would like to return to you, Oliver. Give you a second chance to live a beautiful and full life. You will return wolfless, however. Deek can not return to Earth at this point. He needs to take a new path, one that interests him greatly. Your path has yet to be created by others. But it should be. A lot of this could have been avoided if it had been done properly.”“What path?” I asked. She piqued my interest. I didn’t care to receive another wolf, to be honest. Not sure if

OLIVER POVI woke with a start. My lying form rose quickly into an alert sitting state. I raised my hand to shield my sensitive eyes from the brightness of the surrounding area. The air was fresh and energizing.I knew right away that Vinny was no longer within me. I felt lighter. I felt free.I exhaled in relief.Free.It was surreal to be a prisoner within your own body for most of your life. Even your own thoughts were not yours; they were influenced and twisted. At times, it was hard to understand if they were my own or Vinny’s. He was fluid with the manipulation. One moment I would be laughing and smiling, seemingly enjoying the horrible things I would do, only to sob like a newborn babe in the darkness of night when the memories of the things I had done. It took me a while to understand that it was never me doing them or saying the words coming out of my mouth. It was always Vinny. This was how the hijacking wolf wore you down. They have been weaving themselves within your very

NARRATIVE POVVincent stood there, jaw gaping and eyes widened. Dark Sister smirked with dark, delicious delight. “What’s the matter, Vincent? Isn’t this what you wanted?” She teased, taking a calculated step forward.“H-how are you here in your true form?” Again, Vincent gulped. Not even during the crusades when she reigned him in, did she present her true form. No one outside of her realm should ever see what Dark Sister looks like.Vincent felt the group behind him take several cautious steps back. This told him it wasn’t a mirage or figment of his imagination. Her skin was black as night, tight and gleaming in the flickering lantern light. Her eyes were black with shimmering obsidian, and her teeth were long and promising nothing but pain. His pain. Her form was tall and slender. Her white hair, the perfect contrast to her skin, was snow-white, ending just below mid-thigh. She clicked her long, thick talons together, creating an ominous sound which echoed around them.“The Keepers

NARRATIVE POVBrea begins to recite the memorized incantation as Frankie and Oliver cough violently over the powder that they both inhaled when Aria threw it at them. The air around the group within the room began to swirl, and the sound of unseen shadow wolves howled and snarled.Mike pushed himself into a seating position and held his unconscious son, Ryner, close to his chest. Protecting his body as the aura of the room began to shift. It grew darker. Heavier.Brea, feeling more confident, took another step closer as she began to repeat the incantation. This time with even more confidence and conviction. The swirling air became rapid and frantic.“Brea, not so close.” Courtney said, reaching out and pulling the dazed hybrid witch back into the safety of the group, still standing close to the doorway. The room was large, designed to house fifty wolves comfortably. There were old and expired preservatives lining one of the walls. There were no windows; only the antique lanterns lit t

FRANKIE POVVincent whipped around and stormed over to the generator to turn it back on and power the chair. He locked eyes with me, and I watched the smirk grow as he threw the switch and the electricity coursed through me again.“AHHHHHHHHHhhhhh!” I screamed as my body convulsed and shook. My fists clenched, my neck and back arced as my body sparked to life.Again, the sound of Vincent's laughter filled the air. Dancing alongside my screams of absolute agony. I wanted to beg, to plead for him to stop, but couldn’t/I couldn’t do anything but clench my fists, and even that was uncontrollable. Once they were clenched with the sudden rush of pain, the electricity refused to let them relax and unravel. Not until he turned the chair off.My shallow breath was all that was heard. Vincent crouched before me, tilting his hair, taking in my features.I was exhausted, but still, with what little I had left, I forced myself to stay strong.Tristan would find me. FRANKIE POV“AHHHhhhhhhhh” I screamed as Vincent laughed. The electrical current coursed throughout my entire body.I usually wouldn’t have felt any of this, but after claiming Aiden Harris, my end of the bargain was complete. I was, for lack of better words, restored. Dark Sister just needed to officially release me.Because of this, pain was felt as it would be for anyone else.I knew why he was doing this slow, agonizing torture. Since I wasn’t released, it meant that Dark Sister was still connected to me. By torturing me, Dark Sister would sense it and come forward in an attempt to protect my resurrected charge. But I would need to reach out to her to really connect. I was intentionally blocking the connection as best as I could.Vincent turned off the electric current with a vicious smirk.“How’d that feel, beautiful? Quite a rush, wasn’t it?” Vincent cooed with a slow drawl. He moved closer to me, and with each step, his smile grew.Again, Vincent leans in, nibbling on my markin
