Alicia's POV
I was feeling edgy every time I saw the guards scoop their food into their mouths as begging them for some food seemed to be the only option left since the evil server did not show up. I couldn't bear the hunger again and I resolved to wander over to the other side to beg for food but as I was ambling towards that direction, I heard murmurs and silent laughter from the guards that were settling opposite where I was situated. I continued walking and the laughter resumed until I abruptly got dragged into a nearby corner in between two tents. It earned a surprise howl from the guards. I made an effort to cry out but my mouth was covered which made me unable to make any more sounds. The anonymous limped me farther away from the crowded location to through the backyard of the tents. He suddenly halted and shoved me away. I winced as my already weak bone hit a tree. "What do you want from me?" I requested and shifted away as suspicion was slowly building up. Wait what? He is the half-burnt guy.I felt slightly relieved at the realization."Are you even a lady for me to take advantage of?" He muttered with a heavily scrunched-up face. I refused to answer and made an effort to walk away. He gently propelled me back again. He seemed nervous as he looked away. He then shrugged and rushed out "Your cloth is stained. I can't believe you are so dumb not to know that you are soaked" I was ignorant at first until I hurriedly dragged the backside of my gown to my front. My heart sank and I coiled in embarrassment. I felt disgraced and ashamed and I couldn't help but run fast into my little rent out of shame. At this point, no one can convince me that I am not born to be unfortunate. It all made sense. My menstruation had been the reason for laughter for the cruel guards. How I wish I was never given birth to.I wrapped my clothes around myself and decided to wait till the majority fell asleep. My stomach growled in disagreement with my decision but I did wait till the only ones left awake were the guards assigned to guide the tent. I peeped through my tent and watched the radiant light that shone brightly on the balcony of the Royal tent. I watched it from afar. How comfortable it would feel if I had a chance to spend the night in such a cosy space. It was built beautifully even though it was just a reusable mode of creation.A tear slid down on my cheek and I quickly wiped it away. I flickered as the cold breeze washed through my body.I hurried out of the tent but my leg hit the bucket filled with water which was placed at the entrance of the tent. I stared around and back to the bucket only for my eyes to catch a glimpse of other toiletries and beside it was a new piece of cloth. My heart beamed in joy and I ran around my tent with the thought to find whosoever was my knight in shining armour. I packed the toiletries together and carried them with my left hand and I also carried the bucket with my other hand. I walked farther to the bushy side and relaxed to clean myself up. Immediately I was done, I ran to pick a huge stick light from the one assembled around the tent. A guard caught me but I begged him. Surprisingly, he agreed to my plea. I scurried to burn my stained clothes and sauntered to my tent with my air loose. I gently placed the bucket by the side of my tent and tiptoed towards the simple kitchen meant for the guards. Every damn pot, plate and spoon were neatly washed and arranged. I was about to cry when a thought struck my mind. I didn't think twice before walking in the direction of Arnold's kitchen which was built a few steps away from his tent. I met multiple guards on my way who questioned me but I managed to convince them that he had summoned me. Suddenly, I heard a loud growl filled by the guards running everywhere. "An assassin!!!" a guard screamed.I care less and mustered the courage to change my direction into the Royal kitchen. I watched around the space and sneaked in. The moment I touched the pot cover, the half-burnt guard rushed in and grasped my hand. "Are you crazy?!""I'm hungry!" I winced and hissed adamantly. I tried to shove him away from my side but he was as hard as a rock. "Were you blind enough not to see that this is the place they cooked His Highness's dish? Do you want to die so badly?" He groaned and stretched his hand to collect the pot cover. I couldn't think straight as I was hungry beyond measure. I stared at him miserably and muttered "Just a small portion of food, please"He gulped and gently tried to drag the cover away from me but I was persistent and I jerked out of his grasp. He didn't stop as he continued to run after me. I have no idea about how I ended up laughing at my tricky way of dribbling him. He finally caught me from the back and he turned me to his front. Unfortunately, the moment I tried to get out of his grip, my leg got entangled with his, making me hit the stool that had coolers placed on it. It caused all other utensils to fall, but luckily, they all fell to the other side. Half burnt guard fell and I fell on him. I was stunned that he tried to shield me with his hand since we both thought the utensils would fall on us. The pot cover with me hit his head terribly and I couldn't help but jerk it away from my hand to rub his head. He was staring at me while I helped him massage his head for a while. We weren't conscious of our inappropriate position and the presence of a muscular man standing with eyes brewing fire. "What the hell is going on?!" came the thundering voice that made us jerk up and tremble to our feet. Oh no! In his supposed kitchen space. I am so dead!Alicia's POVThere was a solemn silence. A quietness that took an extended time than I had anticipated.I challenged the likelihood of Arnold standing before us and made an effort to peep. I lifted my head slowly but my eyes only met with the vicious smirk of a guard instead. The guard seems like he was delighted that the half-burnt guard was in trouble. "Abel, meet me later" Arnold muttered softer than I had predicted. "Yes, your Highness" the half-burnt guy who I now acknowledge as Abel responded."And you," Arnold sneered and lingered, "Come with me" he instructed. I have no idea why I wasn't spooked nor fearsome of anything he would do and with the way his voice chimed harshly, I bet his facial expression was like a rotten tomato.Humph!I waited for him to leave before bringing up my head. I stood up to stroll out of the kitchen tent when Abel stood up also and suddenly cautioned "Be careful of your words in front of His Highness. Don't act abnormal as you had jus
Alicia's POV Arnold tweaked his knuckles and proposed coldly "I want you to be my mistress"My heart slipped and my heart clenched tightly as I was beginning to breathe in short gasps but thankfully, I was able to compose myself as I was already used to getting disgruntled by him. I fluttered my eyes severally to rub out the signs of tears that were threatening to fall from my eyes.I gazed at my foot and lifted my head to stare at him but before I could mutter a word, he declared "I will get married to the Princess of Oceania in a few weeks. Having you as my mistress is a one-in-a-million opportunity, especially because you are a servant"My internal system coiled in repulsion. I was mute as I was fighting between speaking humbly or yelling at him and taking the repercussions later. "I am not enough to be your mistress, your Highness, and I would never dream of that" I muttered with a tight smile. "You don't have to pretend. You and I know that you desperately want me. Aside f
Alicia's POV Arnold angrily stormed towards me. The smirking guard hurried to us with the thought that their Prince wanted to mishandle me. Instead, Arnold hauled me in his arms and threw me to his back as if I weighed nothing. What the hell?!I was embarrassed by the reaction of the cook and guards. I badly wanted to jerk out of his grasp but I settled for a humble manner. After walking deep into the mountains, I sought Arnold's attention and whispered to him "I need to get down"He dropped me on the rough cliff and I almost stumbled into an unnoticeable but deep hole. I winced in misery and silently cursed at him. He didn't turn back to stare at me nor did the guards attempt to help me up. I wailed dramatically and it made all of them halt. Do they even know where they are heading? "Will you get up or I instruct them to lug you over?" Arnold seeks my answer without glancing back. I dragged myself up and scurried to meet them. I felt someone's eye on me and I gli
Alicia's POV My eyes slowly fluttered open. They took some time to adjust to the sunlight shining through the tent window. I stretched my arms and legs which were feeling a bit stiff and creaky from my slumber. I yawned like I was feeling sleepy but then I realized how late it was in the morning after hearing the chirping of birds. I had been awake most of the night because of Abel's impulsive temperature. I took it as my responsibility to take care of him. It was a bit tough. After Arnold walked out of the tent yesterday, he had come back to check on Abel and since then, I have not seen him. I huffed and sat up. I do not know when I ended up in a profound trance. I was like that until my attention was distracted when Abel jerked. He groans in pain and tries to open his eyes. He was looking exceptionally pale. I hurriedly scampered to meet one of the patrols to tell me the direction of the Royal physician's tent. The physician hurried to Abel and forced a liquid medicine into
Alicia's POV A ghosted feeling washes through Abel's face as I mention poisoning Layla. He gazed at me like I had gone psycho. He looked offended and probably concerned about my mental health until I realized the way I had portrayed my intention. "I mean…I had always dreamt of dancing in front of wealthy people. I want to perform tonight instead of Layla. I didn't mean to say that you should kill her or something. I just…" I wriggled my fingers anxiously and proceeded, "I want to fulfill my dream even if it's just once in my lifetime, and I see today as a scarce opportunity. The only one that can help me to achieve this is you, my friend" I put in more effort to convince him. Abel felt exhausted by the process. I was putting him through so much trouble. He had not approved to assist me until I asked him curiously "Can you please describe the physical features of Prince Arnold's opponent?" "What do you mean by…You mean Prince Cone?" he implied. "I can't recall his name, but I do
Alicia's POV I strode into the well-elaborated hall with a purpose of grace, head held high and body exuding an air of elegance and sophistication. I was ready to dance like someone distinguished to snatch a spouse. I smirked and got dominated by boldness when I felt the eyes of the majority of the men lingering on me. Although… My face was not open, but with the way my outfit fit me like a glove and the way it accentuated my attractive figure, I was confident to grip at least a powerful man or probably Prince Cone.I bowed in respect to Arnold who was sitting on a golden throne-like chair. I also noticed the way his eyes twitched and tightened. He was obviously struggling to contain his emotions. I could only pinpoint that he felt a surge of possessiveness and anger from the way he clenched his fist. His reaction kind of made me shiver in dread that he might try to stop me. I quickly moved sideways to greet all the Royalty dressed men. I tried to figure out the one that was Cone a
Alicia's POV"I understand that you are a low-status servant who might not know about it." Arnold caress his knuckles. "It's another reason why she should be trained thoroughly before she starts her activities" The prince who mentioned that I serve him attempts to make Arnold recall his promise. He was already whipped. How shameful that this was coming from a Prince of Genovia. A Bali dance is truly the weakness of their men. "You can leave" Arnold dismissed. I veered around but I heard a Prince whisper to Cone "Don't you think that Arnold is acting differently unlike his usual self? Was the stony being finally attracted to a woman? This dancer is truly a vixen" I gazed at Cone one last time and strolled out of the hall. The guests were staring at me in wonder expressions until I was out of the hall. I tumbled on the floor where the Palanquin was placed. The guards and the woman who escorted me here appreciated me, but I shunned them to leave me for a few minutes. They agreed a
Alicia's POV A month later~~~~ It has been a tough month for me. I almost overlooked my scheme of wanting to serve Prince Cone, as my days throughout the month were spent with training. The only moment I spent interacting with people was during the late night at the quarters and the weekends with my lady trainer.I didn't set my eyes on Abel most of the month. That day at the garden, Arnold apprised me about him as my trainer. I recalled that I almost strangled myself by the news but of course, I had no say in making decisions for myself which gave me no room to oppose. I would applaud Arnold as the harshest master ever. I thank God that female servants are banned in his villa because if I were mistakenly assigned to his villa, I would consider it a nightmare. Days when I was training, Arnold would strain his cold eyes on me all day or leave me in the garden to attend to some business while I continued practicing. He wouldn't point out my mistake and he would make me do it o
