LIORA BROOKS

DUSK CAME QUICKLY and I found my opportunity. Neither Natalie nor my uncle Sylvester was back, so it was easy for me to sneak out without any issue. I grabbed some snacks from the fridge before I slipped out the door.

The hard part was trying to avoid the people of the pack and the patrol guards, they would definitely seize me and take me back to my uncle to be punished, which I knew he would do with glee. Avoiding being noticed in a werewolf pack was harder than it sounds because you don’t only have to remain visually hidden, you also have to make sure that you remain on the opposite side of the wind to prevent your scent from being carried to the people – and they would investigate and find you. That was the hardest part as I crept through the woods. I kept my head down, occasionally crawling on all fours.

I went on for long minutes, but I knew that I was not even close to getting to the border. The Blackspire pack had a very large land size, but I was determined even if it was going to take me hours, I was not going to stop.

The moon rose quickly, illuminating the whole woods in its pale blue rays. I could see clearly now and I sped up my movement. The patrol guards would soon start patrolling more often so I had to – a loud exploding sound shook the air, I immediately plastered myself to the floor in fear.

I heard shouts of panic and yelling. The night sky was suddenly enveloped in an orange glow. Something was burning, and it was burning fiercely.

What was that? I wondered to myself as my curiosity piqued, but I could not allow myself to be distracted. I took one last glance at the direction of the glow. Perhaps this was a good thing, the pack would be too busy trying to put off the fire that they would not notice my disappearance.

I had barely moved a few meters when a yell echoed the air, making me freeze and my blood went cold. It was the voice of my uncle, “The silly girl set my house on fire!”

What? Who? Me?

Those questions dissipated from my head as soon as I heard his next words, “FIND HER AND BRING HER BACK TO ME!”

That could not happen. I didn’t do anything except trash his office unless that had somehow triggered the fire… but it should have happened while I was still there waiting for dusk, not after all these hours. I crept into a hollow tree as the shrubs beside me rustled. The men were getting closer to finding me, but I could not let that happen. I clamped a hand over my mouth and held my breath, grateful that the pungent smell of woods and humus hid my own scent so the men walked by obliviously.

I crept out of my hiding place and broke out into a run. The border was just a few yards away, if only I could reach there, it would be easier to hide from everyone. I can even make my way to the human town and live my life as a human. My redemption was only a few metres away and I was running with all my might to get there when I was suddenly jerked from behind and thrown to the floor. I cried out in pain, but still scrambled towards the borders.

I felt strong fingers wrap around my ankles and pull me back. My gown rode up my thighs exposing my flesh, and I was flipped over on my back. My uncle stood over me with a wild look in his eyes. His gaze roamed my thighs and he licked his lips. “You think you can ever leave here?” he laughed. “You want to escape this you stupid bitch? Even after setting the house on fire.”

“I did not do it,” I cried. “I did not…”

“Oh I don’t expect you to admit to your crimes,” he grinned. “But be assured that you are going to suffer the punishment while I enjoy you. In fact, why don’t we start now?” he laughed, gripping my arms and holding them over my head. “You know what?” he said as his other hand caressed my belly. “When I’m done here, I don’t care what you do next, you can get lost.”

Was this the price I am going to pay for my freedom? I asked myself. Was it a price I was willing to pay?

“Don’t worry, Natasha,” he said. “We are going to enjoy it.”

That was my mother’s name. He had just called me by my mother’s name. I bucked against his weight as he started undoing his zipper to free his erection.

“Let me go!” I thrashed under him. “Help!!”

“Shut the fuck up!” his palm connected solidly against my chin. “No one is coming to save you. No one knows you are here.”

That did not deter me as I still fought but I could feel my strength draining out.

“Beta Sylvester, is that you?” a man’s voice called from the distance.

He cursed under his breath as he zipped up and arranged his pants before clearing his throat and saying, “Yes, I found her as she was about to run away.”

The two guards rushed forward. “And you subdued her like a proper Beta,” they said. “Nice work, sir.” One of them grabbed my upper arm and hoisted me to my feet. “You have a lot to answer for, young lady.” He growled.

I looked at my uncle. He had a bitter look on his face as the guards led me away. I have been saved again, but I don’t think I would be so lucky the next time as long as I remain here. I have to find a way out.

WHEN CASSIAN WOKE up, his heart was still heavy, and his mind was troubled. The sub had risen and was shining through the small gap in his window. As he opened his curtain, he shielded his eyes with his hand and stared out. The pack was awake already and everyone was going about their daily duties. The aroma of breakfast drifted into his nose and he went to wash up, scrubbing away the sleep from his face.He packed his long hair in a loose ponytail and dressed casually before going downstairs. He expected quite a number of people in the room, because most of the pack preferred to come and have breakfast in the pack house together. It promoted unity and strengthened the pack bond, but this morning, the room was empty, save for the last person he wanted seated at close proximity."Good morning... alpha, " Liora greeted, standing uo carefully with her baby cradled safely in her arms.He grunted and reply and sat down at the head of the table. She stared at him, unsure of what say or do.

HE COULD FEEL the impatient and slightly judging eyes of Sienna pinned on him as he thought of an answer to her question.“Well, are you?” She urged.Cassian snorted, angry at the question. If it was anyone else, they would have cowered in fear and stopped the questions. But not Sienna; she prodded on, staring at him and expecting a reply.“She was given to me as a slave,” he said slowly. “As a part of the peace treaty with the Blackspire pack..”“And so?” Sienna asked.“Sienna…“ Cassian groaned.“No, I’m serious,” Sienna replied, cutting into what he was saying. “And so? I have known you for a long time, Cassian, so I know you can’t be forced into accepting a gift you didn’t want.”Cassian said nothing.“And you are not a man driven by lust,” Sienna continued. “I am sure you didn’t look at her and see a sex slave.”A smirk curved Cassian’s lips at that. Sienna knew nothing of the response that seeing Liora did to him and his wolf. She released the sexual primal desire in him.Sienna

CASSIAN PROWLED THE length of his room restlessly. The beast within him could not go to the back, and kept threatening to take control. He could not tell if it was because of the child that was a room underneath his, or if it was because of the mother, Liora.Maybe it was because of both the child and the mother. Their proximity was doing something to Cassian, something he could noy explain. Growling, and unable to take it anymore, he walked out of his room. The pack mansion was silent as almost everyone was asleep save for a few guards and servants in the kitchen on night duty. He walked down the hallway and took the stairs downstairs. He found himself stopping in front of Liora's room. He could even hear her heartbeating softly from inside. Her scent flooded his brain. He closed his eyes, putting his hand on the door handle, but trying to resist the urge to push the door open.He wanted to stroke her skin softly as she slept, and carry the child. "Push it," His wolf growled impati

LIORAI HAD A SMILE plastered on my face as the woman came downstairs. She looked even more stunning when she got close, and she exuded such a powerful aura that it felt like everyone disappeared as she approached me. I looked around and realized that everyone around had actually faded away, giving me and the beautiful woman space.“You are the new girl, are you not?“ she asked me with a slight accent that made her even more exotic.I nodded, swallowing with some difficulty. Why was I suddenly wary of this woman as she pierced me with her gaze?“And you have a baby,“ the woman said, looking at Jade. “I was wondering what the whole commotion was about down here. I did not know it was a "welcome home from the hospital" party.“She had a smile on her face and was speaking in low tones, but for some reason, I did not feel relaxed with her. My guard was up.“What’s its name?” she asked, peering into the baby carrier.I subconsciously gripped the handle tighter and said in a grim voice. “Hi

LIORAI WAS DISCHARGED after a few days. Cassian never came to visit me anymore, but when I slept, I could feel his presence. I was not sure if it was real or if my mind was playing tricks on me because whenever I woke up, I always saw that I was alone. My child was medically approved to be healthy even though he was born prematurely. On the morning I was to be discharged, Sienna burst into my room with a bunch of balloons. "Congratulations, Liora!" She grinned. "The doctors said you can come home now."It hurt me that when she said "home," my mind went to the Blackspire pack, and not Cassian's pack. I plastered a smile on my face as I sat up."I expected a little more enthusiasm," Sienna said as she tied the balloon to my bedstand. "Go and wash up, I'll watch baby Jade."I nodded and stood up. Jade carried Jade carefully from his cot and cradled him, making cooing sounds which he seemed to enjoy because his baby laughs filled the air as I went into the bathroom. I took my bath quick

LIORAWHEN I WOKE up, my first instinct was to reach out for my baby. I sat up abruptly, and my head spun."Relax," a voice said. I turned around sharply and saw Sienna with my baby. She was cradling him gently."The doctors said you will remain at the hospital for a few days to make sure everything is fine.""Should something be wrong?" I asked."Don't get defensive on me," she said. "The baby was born premature." She snorted. "They are humans. They do not understand our biology."I scoffed."Here, carry him," she said, handing Jade to me. "He is beautiful. ""Thank you," I smiled as soon as I was carrying him. He was sleeping peacefully."They said you had already named him," Sienna said, crossing her arms."Jade," I nodded. "It was the first name that came to my mind, and it's my birthstone.""Understandable," Sienna muttered. "But you should have told Cassian that you had a name for the child already.""Why?" I snapped. "He is not the father. I don't have to tell him anything.""
