Embrace

Isabelle

The evening of the next day passed with me waiting for Kaden, I'd expected him to come back but he hadn't yet. There was an awkward emptiness existing within me as if all the particles of my body were craving to see him but he was not here yet.

Thick opaque clouds were covering the sky and the drizzling rain was there too, the sound of the thunders was permeating an unknown fear as if unlocking the doors of my memories. Today seemed like that night....the same clouds and the darkness as if the monsters would crawl back again to snatch everything from me.

My breathing became shallower, the tears began blurring my vision as the screams of my mom and dad banged against my ears, The horror-filled eyes of my sister. I covered my ears with my hands, the pure terror that's seeped inside made my heart beat faster.

I couldn't breathe.

The thunders got louder and louder.

The first sob slipped past my lips, the tears now making a mess.

Everything around me felt heavier than the weight that was knotting inside my chest. The sound of my sobs getting overpowered by the loud sound of the thunders and the downpour. I could hardly breathe as the memories dressed as nightmares started creeping up.

The walls of the room felt as if they were shrinking and letting the nightmare get muskier and muskier. The next I knew that I removed the duvet off my body and ran for the door, I didn't know where I was going but as for now, I knew my escape lay away from the room.

Soon as I opened the door my eyes fell on the open door of Kaden's room, the faint sound of shuffling raised my hopes. My feet automatically took me towards the door and before I even know I was rushing inside of his room.

My eyes fell on him as he walked out of the bathroom, a towel wrapped around his waist and his wet hair indicating that he'd just taken a shower.

"Kaden..." His name fell of my mouth, my fear instantly diminishing and turning into hope.

His gaze rapidly moved towards me, the surprise clouding his expression

"Isabelle, I...."He stopped whatever he was going to say as he noticed my tear-stained face and the remaining tear glossing in my eyes, "Why are you crying?" He instantly walked towards me but before he could even reach I found myself running into his arms.

My hands tightly wrapped around him and I buried my face in his bare chest, "T-The t-thunders....and.." I couldn't speak out the next words and the sob ripped through my throat.

I felt him relax upon the mention of the thunders as if he'd guessed that was the only reason behind my tears that now wetted his skin.

"Angel, they thunders can't harm you," He rubbed my back.

"It's dark everywhere, Kaden....I don't feel safe," I shook my head, unable to calm down.

"Do you feel safe with me?" He questioned, his voice growing even softer than before.

Without thinking twice I nodded, "I feel like they can't take me away again if I'm with you," I hiccuped pressing my cheek against his chest, his skin was warm...very warm compared to mine.

His body stiffened at my statement but he was quick to recover and gently cup my face in his large hands, "You can sleep in my room with me, I'll take care of you." He soothingly informed.

"You will be okay with that?" I questioned.

"Of course," A small smile crept on his lips, "But are you okay with it?"

I nodded and slowly loosened my arms from around him.

"I'll just slip on my clothes in a second, sit here." He motioned me to sit on the bed and I did what he said. He disappeared for a while and walked back wearing his pants.

"Let's sleep," He picked up in his arms, and my arms instinctively wrapped around my neck before he made me lay down on the bed and climbed on the bed too.

He pulled me closer to his chest, and my head rested on his arm nestled below his chin. His other hand settled on my hip, drawing me nearer to the warmth of his body.

"Sleep," He cooed, "I'm here with you."

"Your work...is it done? Or do you need to go back again?" I stuttered. I didn't want him to go again, in these few days I had developed an unknown attachment with him that I couldn't even understand. The pull was extremely strong

"It's done, I considered meeting you after coming but since it was too late at night I thought you'd be asleep," He ran his fingers up and down my back lightly grazing his nails as he did so, "I'm sorry, I was late."

"No, it's okay," I let my hands rest against his chest, his bare skin tickled under my palms, "You are never late, if you were late then that day in the forest I could've died."

His body stiffened at my statement and he gently made me look at him, "Don't ever say something like that again, nothing will happen to you as long as I'm alive."

I felt my heart skipping a beat and wings trying to get out but I refrained them from doing so.

I didn't say anything, instead, I let the smile spread on my lips and nodded.

He leaned in kissing my forehead then placing gentle kisses on my both eyelids, he slowly moved lower towards my jaw and I felt his kisses getting stronger and staying longer on my skin. My toes curled at the sensation and I found myself tilting my head to give him better access.

His fingers skimmed my bare skin where the short top had lifted slightly. A soft gasp escaped my lips as his hand abruptly pulled my hip even closer to his one, his lips parting from my jaw.

His eyes now looked darker, as if I had awakened something inside him.

His breathing was slightly so was mine, a new sensation had flooded in my abdomen at the closeness. He closes his eyes taking a deep breath before he kissed my forehead.

He moved away slightly to lay on his back and pull my body closer to him, my leg tangled with his one and my head rested on his chest with half of my body on top of him.

Without any hesitancy, I leaned in his embrace. I wanted nothing other than to stay in his arms for the rest of my life.

"Sleep, love," He murmured, "I'm here....for always."

"Good night, Kaden." I smiled breathing in his smell.

"Good night, Angel,"

And I slowly drifted into sleep, the sounds in the back of my head faded and Kaden's soft murmurings took place there. For the first time in my life after that one night, I slept without any worry or discomfort.

With Kaden's arms wrapped around me and my head nestled under his jaw whilst my cheek rested on his chest hearing his steady heartbeats, I could nothing safer than this--Nothing.
