Strange place

Eva’s POV

I could feel the darkness seeping inside my body, and pleasant silence surrounded me. It was so quiet that it made me wonder if I was dead!

I opened my eyes immediately, finding myself in a lighted room, lying on the bed with my body covered with bandages.

“Where am I?” I murmured under my breath, looking around; tubes were coming in and out of my body like electrical lines. No, why are they draining my blood out? My body started trembling as the insecurities hit me. I clenched my jaws, tearing off the bandages and ripping out the tubes from my body.

“Nurse, the patient is having a panic attack,” I heard a lady yell. I looked up and saw two nurses coming at me. They held my wrists in their hands and brought me down. I struggled to throw my legs in the air like a lunatic, trying hard to get rid of it, but my strength drastically decreased to nothingness.

“Let me live...” I uttered tirelessly, as my voice reduced to very low.

“Young Miss, you are in the hospital. Please calm down so that the medicines will work on your body,” one of the nurses explained, loosening her grip on my wrist. She injected some medicine into the plastic bag hug beside my bed, whose tubes were attached to my pulse.

“I feel relaxed, but who brought me here?” I thought, darting my eyes all over the room. I remembered seeing the pair of a man’s boots before I fainted.

“Did she regain her consciousness, nurse?”

I heard a deep voice of a man asking from the doorway of the room. I turned my face and saw the mesmerizing tall silhouette man standing there. His beauty was ethereal enough to make anyone weak in their knees.

Dressed roughly in a black shirt and pants, he walks inside with a pair of loafers.

“I’m Brendon Devero. What is your name?” He asked me.

“EVA...”

I unknowingly uttered my name to him.

“Okay, Eva, can you tell me how you ended up in the hands of blood traders?” He questioned again.

This time I lowered my face, breaking eye contact with him. Even if I want to answer his questions, I don’t know what I should say because I can’t remember a thing.

He glanced at the nurses, indirectly telling them to leave him alone with me. No, why does he want to be alone with me? Is he going to bully me for not answering his questions?

My fingers tighten on the bedsheet in nervousness. He got close to me and sat beside me. With his long slender fingers, he stroked my face.

“No, stay away!” I instinctively shouted, smacking his hands off me. I don’t know why I did that, either. It’s just that I felt a lightning wave had rushed throughout my body when he touched me.

He still didn’t stop and slid close, cornering me to one side of the bed. Placing his hands on either side of me, trapping me in the middle, he softly said,” Don’t be scared. I’m not here to hurt you...”

“You’re already close enough to doing that..,” I whimpered, leaning slightly against the wall. His thin fabric shirt hung out, and his bare body came into my sight. I could see the wolf tattoo intricately stretching from his right shoulder. A strange tickling sensation started between my legs.

“Do you remember your family?” Brendon asked. His closeness was stirring my sanity of calmness. I could feel my outer skin turning into a crust of ice while my inner skin was burning with fire.

His lavender scent, mixed with sandalwood, invaded my sensitive nostrils.

My breath slowed down as his pleasant scent seared through my skin. “Girl, come back to your senses, he’s just some random guy, and you’re drooling over him,” I muttered a curse, avoiding eye contact with Brendon.

Seeing me uncomfortable, he got up and said,” Eva, you should take a rest now.”

“W…What do you mean?” I murmured, pressing my fingers crossed in horror. The prospect of this man becoming my new master was my greatest source of fear.

He smiled at me. “You’re safe here. After you’ve recovered completely, I’ll take you back with me.”

“Are… are you my new master?”

“Not exactly,” he answered, making me more confused. “Then why are you helping me?”

“I’m helping you because you’re...,” he paused and changed his sentence, “I mean, there are other victims too admitted to the hospital. My pack specializes in raiding illegal blood traders and slave traders...”

I nodded my head since he mentioned Blood Moon Pack. The manager of the prison used to curse and shout whenever he read news of Blood Moon Pack raiding illegal agencies.

“Is he a high-ranking werewolf in the Blood Moon Pack?” I thought, staring at him. His muscular physique represented that he must be second or third in command.

He noticed me staring at him shamelessly. I quickly crawled under the blanket covering my face. Such an embarrassing situation! After a few seconds, I slowly poked my head out to see if Brendon had left.

“Hi.” He waved at me.

He was still there, sitting on a nearby chair. How silly of me! I pulled the blanket up to my face and closed my eyes. I should rest first; already, my body is fragile like jelly.
