Sophia’s POV

Six more months and I could be out of this hellhole, see my parents had died when I was younger. I was put in the orphanage no one wanted to adopt, which I didn’t care about. But for some reason, Alpha Cyrus hated me and so did his son. I would cop daily beatings for no reason. He has tried to beat me down for the last sixteen years, but it hasn’t worked.

I will not allow him to break me. He is a d*ck. He treats our Luna like crap; I feel sorry for her, as I know she gets it worse than I do. No one at school likes me. The teachers hate me and so do all the kids; I have no friends there. All I try to do is study and keep my head down. But the stupid Alpha is training his son up on how to beat me in public. No one can actually watch it, except for the sick kids, but hey they are all like that. I don’t feel the pain anymore. Knowing what is coming for me, I retreat into my head. My body becomes numb. I swear that one of these days I will kill him and his son for what they have done. My wolf should have made an appearance by now, but I can’t even feel her. She must have left me as well.

Getting ready to go to the pack house to clean up all the mess before school starts was my morning routine. See, because no one wanted me. I still live at the orphanage. The ladies there feel sorry for me and are kind. They feed me when the Alpha had told them not to. I think of my parents and felt sad; they told me it was an accident, but for some reason I have never believed them. There is no information on them at all or my family. Trust me, I have tried to find any detail but found nothing. All I knew was that this was not our original pack and all they knew was that I came from across the country.

The pack house was quiet this morning, so I knew I could get everything ready before anyone came. Going straight to the kitchen to start preparing for Adeline. She was brilliant; she was so kind to me, even though I knew Alpha Cyrus had beaten her for it. She was Jarrod’s mate who was the pack Beta. Lost in my own thoughts, I heard a noise behind.

That was when I felt the pain in the back of my head. Something warm was dripping from my head. I stumbled backwards, falling down on the ground.

“Slave girl.” Those words sent chills down my spine. Why the hell did he have to be here? He kicked me in the stomach. I winced in pain. Every time he kicked me, the pain got worse. I couldn’t scream because if he did, it would become worse. After about five minutes, he left without even saying a word. I tried to move, but the pain was too much. He had broken a few ribs this time.

“Oh, my god Sophia. What happened to you? Can you move, sweetheart?” Came Adeline’s sweet voice from behind me.

“I fall over and can’t move.” I lied to her. For some reason, I felt like I needed to lie to cover for that a**hole Angus. Was I going insane? I hated him with every fibre in my being.

“Honey, you don’t need to lie to me. But I will pretend to believe you, ok?” she whispered as she picked me up off the ground. There was a pool of blood where my head had been. I felt lightheaded from the loss of blood, but I knew it wouldn’t be for long.

I thought it was going to be a good day today; I got to the kitchen early so that I could clean up all the mess and get to school early. All I wanted to do was finish my work and hand it in. But no, he had to throw a plate at me. My head was bleeding pretty badly. I ran out, and I was hoping one of the ladies at the orphanage could help me clean this up and not to be late for school. The teachers would punish me if I was late. Feeling eyes on me, I just kept running. I was feeling dizzy, but I had to keep going.

Running through the door, I head straight to the bathroom. There was a knock on the door. Miss Cindy walked in.

“Sophia, are you ok?” she asks me with a worried look on her face. Fighting back tears, I showed her my head.

“Oh my god Sophia, who did this to you?” She asks me.

“I can’t say Miss Cindy. If I do, I will be punished. This was a bad one and I don’t know how the Alpha is going to react to this.” I say to her. She grabs a cloth and wets it. Touching my head with it, I wince at the pain. It would need stitches.

“Sophia, it is healing already. This hasn’t happened before. Sophia, have you been hearing anything in your head?” She asks me, that was a weird question. I mean, I know everyone hated me, but hell, I wasn’t going insane. I was planning my moves for getting out of here and getting as far from this pack as I could.

“No, I have heard no voices in my head. Is my head ok, Miss Cindy? I need to get to school, so the teachers don’t punish me for being late and not handing in my work.” I ask her politely. She has always been so nice to me, Miss Cindy.

“Your ok Sophia, quickly wash up and I will get you a fresh shirt, because this one is covered in blood then hurry and get to school, OK?” she says to me. After a few minutes, I run to school. I know I only have a few minutes. It seemed like I was getting energy as I ran weird. I need to stay away from Angus today. Getting to class just on time, I take my seat in the very back corner of the room and hope that nobody annoys me.

“Slave girl, did you really think that you could hide from me today? Look at how pathetic you are you? You couldn’t even finish your homework.”

The entire class laughed with him. There was a reason why I couldn’t fight back, and I saw glaring at him. He shrunk back slightly when I stared at him. Something flashed through his eyes, but it was gone before I could tell what it was. Angus picked up my homework and ripped it into tiny pieces, throwing it all over the floor.

“Get your hands and knees and clean up your sh*t like a good slave girl.” He walked back to his chair while everyone was laughing at me.

Why did he have to do that, I was fighting tears in my eyes, but I promised myself that I wouldn’t let him see me cry, I wanted to punch this idiot in the face, but I knew I would be killed for it. The entire class is laughing. He goes to his seat, and they left me scrambling around trying to pick the mess up. I was going to be punished for this. Suddenly, Mr Owen walks into the room. The room falls silent.

“What is going on in here?” Mr Owen asks,

“Slave girl ripped her papers up and throw them everyone.” Angus shouts out before I had the chance to say anything. Trying to pick the paper up I feel a hand on the back of my neck, he was using force this time and I scream out in pain, but nobody does anything, I can see everyone’s eyes on me as I am dragged to the front of the class.

“Please, Mr Owen, it was a misunderstanding.” I beg him, but he bends me over the desks and ties my hands in the holds that he had made. Oh sh*t, this was going to hurt. Why the f**k did this happen to me?

The first strike was the worst. I screamed out in pain, but nobody would help me. I felt the whip break my skin. It didn’t stop, he just kept on going. All I could do was scream. I wanted to die. The pain was too much. My vision was blurry from all the tears. Then the darkness took me.

  • The Lycan King's Broken Mate   Fifteen Years On

The darkness had consumed me, but I felt a hand grab mine, causing my eyes to open. I had been to this place before, but I couldn’t remember how. Looking at the hand touching mine, I saw her for how she really was, a goddess truly touched by the moon.“Do you remember how you got here, my sweet Sophia?” Her voice rung regal.“I am having some trouble, Selene. It seems that my mind is trying to stop me from remembering.” I was confused as to why. She stopped in front of me, still holding my hand, her other hand touching my cheek.“Will you allow me to show you?” She asked me. Nodding my head yes, I knew there were people waiting for me somewhere. Light shone from her hand and every memory that I ever had from when I was a baby right till my death flashed before my eyes. I saw all the love, all the hate. I gasped as the last memory stopped.“Will they be ok Selene?” I asked her.“Sophia, my child, would you like me to show you the future they have, or would you like to stand over all my

  • The Lycan King's Broken Mate   Till Death Do Us Part

Why did he always assume that it was me? No matter what I did, he always thought it was me and I was tired of it. Here I was, accepting my fate to die so that they could live. Asher felt the pain he had just caused me. He was about to say something when I stopped him.“How dare you assume it was me? You always do this to me, Derek. I am sick of it. You ridicule me even though I accepted my fate so that you could live. I Sophia reject you, Derek, as my fated mate.” I said, and the bond snapped from me. The warriors gasped behind me.“You want to know where my mate is? I don’t know because I just rejected him. Even in death, he still chooses to believe the worst in me. As for my mate, you already know, Asher.” I told Zakari it wiped the grin off his face.“But you can’t have them both as your mates? It’s not meant to work like that.” He scolded me. The mate bond with Derek was broken by my side, but it wasn’t for him. That’s why I hadn’t said the rejection correctly, because I didn’t ne

  • The Lycan King's Broken Mate   He Keeps Turning Against Me

Jarrod’s wolf was killing him slowly. His paw was on his head so that he couldn’t shift. Angus wasn’t even squirming. It was like he was welcoming death.“DO IT JUST KILL ME.” He screamed at us. He really wanted to die, but why should he? After all the pain he had caused me and countless others, death was the easy way out.“Jarrod, stop, don’t kill him. That would be doing him a favour. Chain him in silver.” Jarrod’s wolf cocked his head sideways. Asher disappeared and was back a few seconds later. Angus was now chained in silver and chained to the tree. Jarrod had shifted back.“What the fuck Sophia.” He said, coming straight at me. Asher stepped him in front of me and Jarrod stopped where he was.“If you touch her, Jarrod, I will rip you to pieces.” Asher’s voice was calm, and that’s what the scariest thing was.“I wasn’t going to touch her Asher, relax, but I want to know why she won’t let us kill him?” He questioned.“He wants to die Jarrod, we would be doing him a favour. See, we

  • The Lycan King's Broken Mate   Saying Goodbye

Derek was going to be back in a few minutes. I could feel his aura getting closer through the mate bond.“As much as I want to stay here in your arms forever, we have to clean up. Derek will be back in a few minutes.” I whispered into his ear. Luckily, I wasn’t going to be alive long enough to worry about upsetting both of my mates. After we had a shower, which turned out to be a little longer than we thought because we couldn’t keep our hands off each other, we went downstairs. Derek walked through the door, instantly coming to the both of us and pulling us into a hug.“I am glad that the both of you were able to have that time together, but now I must talk nothing but seriousness.” He was hiding something in his voice that I couldn’t decipher what it was. He moved away, looking at the both of us. “Marcus and I have been talking, and we have come up with a plan. I am sorry, but I must leave both of you. I can’t stay here and watch you die, Sophia. It is selfish of me I know but on

  • The Lycan King's Broken Mate   There Has Never Been A Love Like Ours

Asher’s POV“The cost of this is your life, isn’t it?” I was choking on the words as I tried to get them out. “You both know this has to happen. I don’t know when it is going to happen, but I know it will be soon. It is the only way to keep our babies alive.” She told me her voice was not her own, she sounded other worldly. I knew this was coming, but I didn’t expect it to be so soon. I needed time. I could fix this. My heart was being ripped from my chest, falling to my knees. I was struggling to breathe. Her touch on my shoulder warmed my body, but it still didn’t take away the fact that she was going sooner than we thought. I had only just got her.“There is a cabin in the woods on the other side of the kingdom. You both should go and spend the night together there, please. I beg the both of you. We all need this. Sophia, baby, I love you, but you need to love Asher as well. Asher, you need her. Spend the night with her, make it worth it.” Derek said. He had sat down on the other

  • The Lycan King's Broken Mate   It Comes At A Cost

Asher’s POVKnowing what Derek was asking me to do was taking me away from our plans to stop this. But I couldn’t bring myself to leave. Sophia had suffered some much pain in her life times. And I couldn’t be the cause of more pain to her.“We need to stay with our mates and babies, Asher. If our mate has to die and all we can do is to be there for her, spending the time that she has left to make her happy, then that is what we will do.” Ivar ordered me.“I know, but the pain is too much, Ivar. How are we meant to keep going with knowing what is going to happen? And we know that Derek will do whatever he can to die as well after she does. I can feel it Ivar, he is not going to stay here on this earth if she isn’t here. This is why I am scared to finish forming the mate bond with her. We can’t afford to do that. We have to be the strong ones here for the sake of the twins. They are going to need us. We are their family.” Ivar was right, he always was, but I couldn’t help but feel I was
