Elena pov

Catherine stood by the large mirror, reapplying her crimson lipstick with practiced precision. My gasp made her look up, the mirror reflecting her smile that was like a blade.

"Elena dear," She turned to face me fully, setting down the lipstick with deliberate slowness. "How perfect. I was hoping we would get a chance to talk privately."

The door clicked shut behind me.

And I realized, with growing horror, that Catherine could have been waiting for me all along.

  • The Lycan King's Captive   Chapter 43: breaking point

CHAPTER 43: The Breaking PointElena's POVThe guards led me to the post in the center of the courtyard, and with each step, I felt the eyes of hundreds pressing down on me like a physical weight.Maya's presence continued to act like a shield for me, but she can only be with me for a limited time."You are not allowed to go further." one of the guards commanded, looking at where Maya held my hands.Maya obeyed this time, standing to one side as her violet eyes locked on mine. She mouthed something I couldn't quite make out, but I understood the meaning: “Stay strong.”I tried to nod, but my neck felt too stiff, too frozen with fear. The executioner stepped forward, and the crowd fell silent. He was a massive man, built like a mountain, with arms thick as tree trunks. In his hands, he carried the whip. Even from where I stood, I could see the silver tips woven into the leather strands, glinting like tiny stars in the fading sunlight.Silver, the one thing that would leave permanent

CHAPTER 42: The d-dayElena's POVTwenty lashes from a silver-tipped whip. The words echoed in my mind, over and over, like a death sentence being read aloud. I had heard the stories, of course. Everyone had. Whispers in the omega quarters about wolves who had undergone the same punishment in the past… the story was that they never remained the same. And most of them were warriors. Strong. Trained. Built to endure pain. And I was none of those things.I wrapped my arms tighter around my knees, trying to make myself smaller, as if I could somehow disappear into the stone itself. My hands were shaking so badly I could barely hold them still. The trembling had started when Kieran described what was coming, and now it would not stop.*Each one will burn like fire. Each one will tear flesh and leave scars that may never fully heal.*His voice had been so cold. So detached. As if he were discussing the weather rather than my torture. And maybe that was the worst part. Not the promise of pa

  • The Lycan King's Captive   Chapter 41: before the storm

CHAPTER 41: Before the StormKieran's POVThe dungeons beneath the castle were cold, damp, and utterly without mercy. Exactly as they were meant to be. I descended the stone steps slowly, each footfall echoing off walls that had witnessed centuries of suffering.Marcus had wanted to accompany me, but I had ordered him to oversee preparations in the courtyard instead. What I needed to say to Elena required no witnesses."She still has not spoken since we brought her down," one of the guards had reported earlier. "Has not eaten. Barely drank the water we gave her."Good, I had thought then, let her feel the weight of what is coming. but now, descending deeper into the earth, I was not so sure. The bond pulsed with a mix of her emotions and mine, tangled together until I could barely tell them apart. Fear. Resignation. Dread. And underneath it all, a profound sadness that felt like drowning.I reached the lowest level where the most secure cells were kept. Two guards stood at attention

Chapter 40: the pleasElena povI sank back onto my throne, suddenly exhausted.Marcus appeared at my side. "That was masterful. You satisfied the court while preserving her life. You…""Do not congratulate me on finding the least terrible option in a room full of nightmares," I said bitterly. "Twenty lashes, Marcus. Twenty lashes from a silver-tipped whip on an omega who is my mate. And I have to stand there and watch while the bond screams at me to stop.""You did what you had to do.""Did I? Or did I just prolong her suffering because I am too much of a coward to either execute her cleanly or claim her publicly?"Marcus was quiet for a moment. "You are giving her a chance to prove her worth. To demonstrate that she has value beyond her deception. That is more mercy than most would have shown."Before I could say anything more, the throne room doors burst open with enough force to make the guards jump. I was on my feet instantly, hand moving toward my weapon, but I stopped when I sa

  • The Lycan King's Captive   Chapter 39: the judgement 2

Kirean povThe court was fracturing before my eyes. It was so obvious that majority didnt support the idea of leaving her alive. They continued to demand blood to satisfy their wounded pride. Their bloodlust increased as king darius and the elders continued to fight against my decisions, raisong one concern against the other.I looked at Marcus, who stood rigid near the side entrance, his hand resting on his sword hilt. He tilted his head, triying to establish a connection.“Do we need to clear the room by force?” his voice echoed in my head. He had mindlinked with me.Thats the huge different between lycans and ordinary wolves. Lycan can mindlink with anyone from their paak at will, but the alohaz can only do that with their mate.“Not yet. But possibly soon.” I replied back.“Your Majesty, the situation is deteriorating rapidly. You need to regain control."He was right. The court was fracturing before my eyes, splitting into camps based on those that supported elenas execution or n

CHAPTER 38: The judgmentKieran's POVThe moment Darius walked through those doors uninvited, every instinct in me screamed danger. Not the physical kind… I could handle that easily. This was different. This was the kind of danger that came in the pretense of a fake smile and hidden political games, the kind that could unravel kingdoms if I was not careful. My hands gripped the armrests of my throne hard enough that the wood groaned under the pressure. I forced myself to release them slowly, to maintain my appearance in front of my people even though I was nowhere calm.Marcus moved immediately, intercepting Darius before he could get far into the throne room. "King Darius, this is a closed proceeding. I must ask you to…"Darius walked past him as if he were invisible. Did not even glance in his direction. Just kept moving forward with that insufferable smile, his guards fanning out behind him in a clear show of power. In my throne room, in my own kingdom. The disrespect was intention
