Duncan woke up early, before the sun rose over the horizon. He glanced at his sleeping mate beside him, his gaze soft as he reached out to place a gentle kiss on her forehead.

She stirred slightly in response but didn’t open her eyes. Her expression was tired, and the red marks he had left on her body the night before grazed her skin.

“I’ll be right back, dearest,” he whispered, brushing the hair away from her face and placing another gentle kiss on her lips.

He rose and left the chamber. Falcon saluted upon seeing him.

“Make sure you stay with her every step of the way. Protect her while I’m gone.”

“Understood, Your Grace.”

Only a few knew about his departure. As usual, Lucas would handle the affairs in his absence. Duncan made sure he'd be reassured Arianna would be well protected while he was away.

And as for the ritual, he would try his best to complete it and return as soon as possible.

Lylah blinked, stunned by his words. Her eyes met his.“You came because of the woman in my chamber, didn’t you?”“No. I said I was just passing by.”“I can hear your heartbeat, Lylah,” he countered, calm but direct. She cursed inwardly. “Do whatever you want.”“I will. Goodnight.” He gave a short smile, turned, and began to walk away.“You’re really going to sleep with her?!” she blurted, unable to stop herself.Lucas halted. He clasped his hands behind his back before slowly turning to face her. “What if I am?”Her throat felt tight. She glanced away, eyes burning. “Sure. You don’t care anyway… So… you can do whatever you want.”“Really?”“Yes. Maybe I’ll finally stop imagining things once you’ve taken her. It’s the full moon, after all. It makes sense. You’re the Grand Lord—why should anything else matter?”“You sound upset.”“I’m not.”“Then why are you shaking?” he asked, his voice quieter now.She looked down at her trembling hands, lips parting slightly. Her eyes watered, tongu

“All done,” Lylah said, dusting off her hands after helping Selene gather firewood.“Thank you, Lylah. You should head back to your chamber. You must be tired,” Selene said kindly. But Lylah shook her head. “I’m not. Do you need help with anything else?”Selene blinked, now sensing something off. The girl was definitely hiding something. “Who are you running from?”“Running? Oh—no, I’m not running from anyone,” Lylah let out an awkward laugh. The head maid gave her a suspicious look. “Hm. Then go back to your chamber and lock yourself in. It’s the full moon. Wolves are hungry, and you’re getting more… feminine these days. I know you’d break their necks if they tried anything—and that’s exactly what I’m trying to prevent.”Lylah pouted, glancing down at her body. Feminine? No wonder some of her clothes had started to feel tighter. After the head maid bid her goodnight, Lylah began heading back to her chamber. Truthfully, Selene wasn’t wrong—she wasn’t exactly running… but she was avoid

Lylah's eyes were filled with tears—and the reason was that her sister was carrying the King's child. Arianna had broken the news to her, and her reaction was priceless. She couldn’t keep her mouth shut, only staring at Arianna’s belly in awe.“It’s been three weeks and a few days now,” Arianna added.“Oh my God,” Lylah gasped, her palm flying to her mouth.“You’re going to be an auntie,” Selene said beside Arianna. “And I’m going to stitch a whole wardrobe.”“You’re… pregnant,” Lylah pronounced each word, shock lacing through them. In the next moment, she nearly screamed and hugged Arianna. “We should celebrate!”“Nah… the realm is in chaos right now.”“Oh right, I almost forgot.” Lylah’s face dropped. “But I’m so happy. This is great.”“We can’t let anyone know yet. Just me, Selene, the King, and his Beta. I’ll tell Nyra when the time is right.”Lylah pressed her lips together, suppressing another scream. Instead, she started listing names for the unborn child.“Ah! How about Luciel

‘You’re the greatest shame of my life…’‘We are strangers now. I never want to see you again.’Those words haunted her, even though she tried so hard not to think about them. They had branded into her soul the moment they left Selene’s lips.Yes, she was wrong for drugging Lylah—but they didn’t even care to listen to her. Especially the woman she looked up to the most. Those grey eyes had never stared at her with so much hate. And it...Hurt.“What are you thinking about?” Toran’s raspy voice drew her out of her thoughts. She looked up at him as he stroked her blonde hair. She was clad in nothing but a tiny piece of fabric, straddling his bare chest.“Why do you hate Arianna so much?” she asked, and he stopped stroking.“Is that even a question?” he raised a brow.“Yes, it is. If it wasn’t, I wouldn’t have asked,” she shot back.Without warning, he yanked her by the hair, tilting her head with force.Brigid yelped in pain as Toran hovered over her and began kissing her neck. The pain

Ever since the King returned, the palace had grown quiet again-though anyone who heard what happened at court knew it wasn't over. There were whispers, words spreading beneath the shadows, carried carefully by the breeze.Arianna could feel it in her bones.It. Wasn't. Over. She had the King's future growing in her belly. In less than three months, she would be crowned as the Grand Queen. Her training to fully connect with her dragon was progressing well. The King had been so sweet to her-everything with him felt blissful. However, there was this unsettled feeling that refused to go away. She recalled her conversation with Elder Varyn before he left the Citadel. The older male's eyes were filled with worry as he spoke:'My lady, I know your bond with the King is beyond our imagination, and that you are happy by his side, but... I honestly think you should consider leaving. At least for a while-until the storm clears. The look on their faces, my lady... those four Lords are ready to go

A week LaterLORD ATHEON'S DOMAINThe four Lords sat around a table, the air thick with tension as they discussed."I thought we all agreed to keep our emotions in check," Lord Merek said, his words directed at Valoreth."Is that why you kept cutting me off in court? You need to have seen it-when she used her power, the way she controlled fire," Valoreth countered."You sent your men dressed like assassins and threatened to kill her sister. What did you expect?"Valoreth raised a brow. "Are you drifting to her side now?"Merek sighed, shutting his eyes momentarily. "Honestly, in all my centuries, this is the first time I don't know what to do. She was brave-standing before us without trembling, despite the fear swirling in her eyes.""Bullshit. She called us cowards," Valoreth flared. "She dared to look us in the eyes and hurl insults to our faces.""We weren't listening to her," Atheon said calmly. "She was simply trying to survive. Bearing the bloodline of both realms isn't her faul
