Left to be Eaten Alive
Elowen's POV “I told you already. I didn't steal anything. I'm being falsely accused!”I defended myself for the fifth time. Imagine working your ass off just to make a living because your husband refuses to leave the couch, and you're suddenly accused and arrested for stealing. “Yeah? And the money magically appeared in your bag, huh?”Martin, the manager of the mart I was working at, sarcastically retorted. “Martin, I've been working with you for two years now. If I intended to steal, I would have done so a long time ago.”I desperately defended myself. Martin dramatically rolled his eyes. “I'm done talking to this thief. Officer, just lock her up because I have no intention of forgiving her. She needs to be taught a lesson.” “No!”I cried and tried reaching for him but he was already gone and the officer pushed me back on the chair. “Martin, please!” My voice remained unheard and I was thrown in a holding cell where I would wait for my fate. “I am not a thief,”I muttered. I whimpered and hugged my knees, looking around the empty and dirty cell block. God knows how many wrongfully accused people like me were locked up here. “Please save me, Henry.” My life as a wife of a lazy, and poor man like Henry wasn't easy, and he would sometimes abuse me, but he was the only family I had. It was not easy growing up in this world as an orphan, and I don't want to lose my family again. If I didn't meet Henry while he was accompanying his Alpha, I would still be alone. I huddled up in the corner, praying to God that Martin would feel guilty for what he did and come back. But he didn't. Based on the shadow moving in the cell, I could tell that it will be evening soon. I've been in the cell for five hours. “S-Sir, please. What time is it?” I crawled closer to the cell door and the officer glanced at his watch. “Quarter to six," he answered. “Henry will be looking for dinner soon. If he doesn't eat by six, he would be angry and beat me, sir. Sir, please. I'm begging you. I'm innocent.” The officer scoffed. “We'll see about that.” “I-I am a slave of the Black Mountain pack, sir! Alpha Grayson, he would vouch for me, please!” “Who would save a slave like you?”the officer mocked me and left. I collapsed on the ground with a devastated look on my face. That's right. Who'd save a human slave like me? Our only purpose in this world is to serve the werewolves and lycans. It has always been like that since I was born. I didn't realize I had fallen asleep until a loud bang woke me up, and I was startled awake. “You're free to go.” I scrambled on my feet and I rushed outside when he opened the cell door. I didn't want to spend a minute there. “Reah!” I threw my arms around my friend when I saw her outside, and she gave me a look of sympathy. “If I didn't see Martin putting the money in your bag himself, what would the world have done to you, you naive woman?” I gasped and covered my mouth. “He did?! But why would he do that?” Reah sighed and handed me my things. “Go home, El. I'm sure you'll find out soon enough.” I was confused about what she meant at first, but when I got home, I finally realized what she was saying. “We finally got rid of her. We won't see her again, right?” “Martin told me she was arrested earlier. She won't be getting out of there anytime soon, darling. We can be together now.” I felt my heart being ripped out of my chest and exploding into a million pieces when I heard what my husband said. “What's the meaning of this?”I asked shakily and they both turned to me with wide eyes. “Elowen?! But how?!” The woman beside him did a dramatic turn and Henry's betrayal hurt a thousand more when I saw her face. It was Olga, his ex-girlfriend before he married me. “How could you do this to me?”I choked on my own tears and my vision turned blurry. “How long has this been going on?” “Ah, the cat's out of the bag, I guess. How long? Long enough for you not to notice anything.”Olga answered nonchalantly. “Elowen, let's talk somewhere else.” Henry grabbed my arm and what he said wasn't a request but a warning. “Why would you still talk to her? Just ask her for a divorce, Henry.” “Divorce?”I repeated, pain spreading all over my body. Henry ran his fingers through his hair and it looked like he wasn't even guilty or sorry for being caught. Rather he looked annoyed. “Look, Elowen. I can't keep living like a loser. I'm tired of being a doormat. Olga's family managed to climb the ladder and I want to be part of it.” “And you'll get rid of me?” “For my ambition? Yes.” My eyes shifted from him to Olga and I suddenly felt a surge of anger inside me because of their betrayal. “You would have achieved that if you didn't spend the rest of our three-year marriage staying on the couch. Divorce? Over my dead body.” I turned around, intending to leave and file for a complaint over their affair, and I could hear them arguing behind me. “Will you just let her leave and ruin everything for us, Henry? Do you want to stay a slave forever?!”Olga screeched behind me. “Shut up, Olga!” “Just kill her, Henry!” My eyes widened and my heart beat rapidly in my chest. I walked faster but I didn't make it far when I felt something hit my head and I collapsed on the floor. My whole world spun and I could feel something hot trailing down my face. “You should have stayed in the prison, El.”I heard Henry saying before everything went black. The Real Killer Elowen's POV"Stop punishing your sister, love. She didn't mean it. She just wanted to help me." I tried convincing my husband, who had just locked his sister in her palace."Stop defending her, Elowen. She's not a child. She knew the weight of her words. She should have known the effect it would cause. She put you in danger, damn it!" I sighed and hugged him from behind, leaning my forehead against his strong back."They would have found out either way, Kohen. We both know it won't be long before words get out. I know you are angry because you want to protect me, but don't put the pressure on your sister, hmm?" Kohen turned around and took me in his arms. I sighed in bliss and melted in his embrace."I guess I am just angry that nothing seems to be working out. Whenever you are happy, something will happen to ruin it. It's like you don't have the right to experience happiness.""That is why every happiness, memories and moments should be treasured, love. Stop worry
The Hero They See as a VillainElowen's POVIn the end, Reina didn't explain what she meant. And I didn't force her because I had a feeling she wasn't sure herself. She simply assured me that she will help me figure it out and she discreetly took a sample of my blood. The following days became busy to me and I noticed that the bruises were slowly fading, but I still feel lethargic sometimes. The only thing that drives me to move is Kohen and my passion.I was in-charge of redecorating the pond, gazebo, garden and the pavilion. I sketched a blueprint first and made sure it looked close to how it looked like before and submitted it to the king. "Hmm, I like how you kept the old design and added your own touch, princess. Truth is, I've been wanting to redecorate that place anyway." King Dorian added some things he wanted, but surprisingly did not change anything from my design. It was strange being treated nicely by him when I was a mere stranger who forced her way to his family befo
Worsening ConditionElowen's POVI woke up feeling sore all over and I felt so weak that I couldn't even lift my arms and feet. When I checked my body, I noticed that I had bruises on some parts of my body. The events last night came back to me and I felt embarrassed by how I acted last night, but then smiled when I remembered Kohen comforting me and telling me he loves me. Our topic made me feel insecure and sad, and that is why I drank more than usual, but what Kohen said eased my mind and made me feel secure. I forced myself to sit down and released a groan when my whole body protested. Kohen and I overdid it, but I don't think I should be feeling weak like this. Not to mention the bruises on my skin. I glanced at the clock and my eyes widened when I saw that it was four in the afternoon. I dragged myself to the bathroom to take a bath, although I knew that my husband had already wiped me clean. I wore long sleeves and pants to hide the bruises from my friends and Kohen becaus
Late HoneymoonKohen's POVI came back to my quarters before midnight and thank God the girls were done because I couldn't stay a moment in that party. It was filled with lies, pride, ego and nothing but arrogance. Those who contributed so little and even had the guts to run away, boasted about doing something and saving the world but it was nothing but a load of bull. The one who made the most contribution is my wife, but my father and I agreed not to tell everyone about what she did for her safety. The demon might be dead, but we still have enemies out there, just waiting for the right moment to strike us, and they might use Elowen for their own gain."How did she get this wasted?" I asked her servants and friends who bowed their heads in shame and apology.Elowen was lying on the sofa and she was out of it. She was moving her hands around while singing a song I don't even know. "And you promised me a honeymoon," I sighed in disappointment but carried her wasted self in my arms.
Girl's Night Part TwoElowen's POV“Rhea has arrived, your highness.”Tears automatically gathered in my eyes as soon as I saw my best friend entering. My body moved before I could stop myself and I threw my arms around her.“You're safe,” I breathed emotionally, pulling back a little so I could check her face and body to make sure she wasn't hurt. “Thank God you're safe, Rhea. I was so worried about you. That demon copied your face and I thought he...” I choked before I could continue, unable to finish my sentence.“I'm safe, your highness. I guess I wasn't interesting enough for him to kill.” My best friend joked and we laughed together. “How about you? I heard what happened just this morning and I was worried sick, but I heard everyone's okay.”“Everything should be back to normal from now on. We can live our lives normally again.” I said and a wave of happiness hit me, but then I remembered my vision and it vanished in a snap. But the thing is, I can't let that vision ruin the h
This is Chapter 124, and the previous chapter is 123. I'm sorry for the mishap. *Girl's NightElowen's POVThe very next day, I told Kohen that I wanted to personally check if Rhea was okay because I couldn't reach her number. I didn't want to attract attention and I knew he was busy, so I assured him that I will be fine and that Jake will be with me. “The execution is today.” Kohen reminded me before I went and I just shrugged. “He deserved it for being a traitor. I am not really interested in seeing it. My best friend is more important, Kohen.”My husband looked satisfied by my answer and it looks like he suddenly remembered something. “I visited them last night... and he was acting strange. Did you have anything to do with it perhaps?”It was not really a question but a confirmation. And because he didn't want to offend me. “Yes,” I confirmed with a slow nod. “I showed him Olga's death and it would be the only thing he will remember before he dies.”A smile showed on his lips
Can You Create a Mural?Elowen's POV“What is the name of the King's mother and the current Queen Dowager?”I gritted my teeth and struggled to balance the five-kilo of water in a basin Constantine made me balance on my hands. I had my arms stretched out on top of my head for half an hour now while
I Have One RequestElowen's POV“The Alpha asked me to reach out to you, El. He heard about what Henry did and that he'll spend the rest of his life in prison. Olga and him never got married, so as his ex-wife, he wants to ask what you want to do with the house. You have a share with it, don't you?
A Kiss for a SlapElowen's POV“I want to pursue my dream to be an artist, Henry. Who knows? Maybe I will see my work mounted on the wall one day. It would be included in the exhibit and maybe it can be auctioned off.” I blabbered non-stop, clasping my hands together while looking at the paintings
The Crown PrinceElowen's POV“Let me help you with that.”I offered and attempted to take the carrots so I could chop them, but they were taken away before I could touch them.I stayed up all night trying to memorize the royal family, and I had not done it since I was a student. When I woke up, I r
