Left to be Eaten Alive

Elowen's POV

“I told you already. I didn't steal anything. I'm being falsely accused!”I defended myself for the fifth time.

Imagine working your ass off just to make a living because your husband refuses to leave the couch, and you're suddenly accused and arrested for stealing.

“Yeah? And the money magically appeared in your bag, huh?”Martin, the manager of the mart I was working at, sarcastically retorted.

“Martin, I've been working with you for two years now. If I intended to steal, I would have done so a long time ago.”I desperately defended myself.

Martin dramatically rolled his eyes.

“I'm done talking to this thief. Officer, just lock her up because I have no intention of forgiving her. She needs to be taught a lesson.”

“No!”I cried and tried reaching for him but he was already gone and the officer pushed me back on the chair. “Martin, please!”

My voice remained unheard and I was thrown in a holding cell where I would wait for my fate.

“I am not a thief,”I muttered.

I whimpered and hugged my knees, looking around the empty and dirty cell block. God knows how many wrongfully accused people like me were locked up here.

“Please save me, Henry.”

My life as a wife of a lazy, and poor man like Henry wasn't easy, and he would sometimes abuse me, but he was the only family I had. It was not easy growing up in this world as an orphan, and I don't want to lose my family again.

If I didn't meet Henry while he was accompanying his Alpha, I would still be alone.

I huddled up in the corner, praying to God that Martin would feel guilty for what he did and come back.

But he didn't.

Based on the shadow moving in the cell, I could tell that it will be evening soon. I've been in the cell for five hours.

“S-Sir, please. What time is it?”

I crawled closer to the cell door and the officer glanced at his watch.

“Quarter to six," he answered.

“Henry will be looking for dinner soon. If he doesn't eat by six, he would be angry and beat me, sir. Sir, please. I'm begging you. I'm innocent.”

The officer scoffed. “We'll see about that.”

“I-I am a slave of the Black Mountain pack, sir! Alpha Grayson, he would vouch for me, please!”

“Who would save a slave like you?”the officer mocked me and left.

I collapsed on the ground with a devastated look on my face.

That's right. Who'd save a human slave like me? Our only purpose in this world is to serve the werewolves and lycans. It has always been like that since I was born.

I didn't realize I had fallen asleep until a loud bang woke me up, and I was startled awake.

“You're free to go.”

I scrambled on my feet and I rushed outside when he opened the cell door. I didn't want to spend a minute there.

“Reah!”

I threw my arms around my friend when I saw her outside, and she gave me a look of sympathy.

“If I didn't see Martin putting the money in your bag himself, what would the world have done to you, you naive woman?”

I gasped and covered my mouth. “He did?! But why would he do that?”

Reah sighed and handed me my things.

“Go home, El. I'm sure you'll find out soon enough.”

I was confused about what she meant at first, but when I got home, I finally realized what she was saying.

“We finally got rid of her. We won't see her again, right?”

“Martin told me she was arrested earlier. She won't be getting out of there anytime soon, darling. We can be together now.”

I felt my heart being ripped out of my chest and exploding into a million pieces when I heard what my husband said.

“What's the meaning of this?”I asked shakily and they both turned to me with wide eyes.

“Elowen?! But how?!”

The woman beside him did a dramatic turn and Henry's betrayal hurt a thousand more when I saw her face.

It was Olga, his ex-girlfriend before he married me.

“How could you do this to me?”I choked on my own tears and my vision turned blurry. “How long has this been going on?”

“Ah, the cat's out of the bag, I guess. How long? Long enough for you not to notice anything.”Olga answered nonchalantly.

“Elowen, let's talk somewhere else.”

Henry grabbed my arm and what he said wasn't a request but a warning.

“Why would you still talk to her? Just ask her for a divorce, Henry.”

“Divorce?”I repeated, pain spreading all over my body.

Henry ran his fingers through his hair and it looked like he wasn't even guilty or sorry for being caught. Rather he looked annoyed.

“Look, Elowen. I can't keep living like a loser. I'm tired of being a doormat. Olga's family managed to climb the ladder and I want to be part of it.”

“And you'll get rid of me?”

“For my ambition? Yes.”

My eyes shifted from him to Olga and I suddenly felt a surge of anger inside me because of their betrayal.

“You would have achieved that if you didn't spend the rest of our three-year marriage staying on the couch. Divorce? Over my dead body.”

I turned around, intending to leave and file for a complaint over their affair, and I could hear them arguing behind me.

“Will you just let her leave and ruin everything for us, Henry? Do you want to stay a slave forever?!”Olga screeched behind me.

“Shut up, Olga!”

“Just kill her, Henry!”

My eyes widened and my heart beat rapidly in my chest. I walked faster but I didn't make it far when I felt something hit my head and I collapsed on the floor.

My whole world spun and I could feel something hot trailing down my face.

“You should have stayed in the prison, El.”I heard Henry saying before everything went black.

Olga's Death Along With My HatredElowen's POVI remained frozen on my spot, gasping for air and my whole world freezing before me. I looked down and the dagger was just a few inches away from me!I huffed and puffed, watching how Shane slowly fell in front of me with Kohen's dagger still sticking out his neck. I just saw how the light left his eyes!“Fuck. Let's go, Lena!”I could hear Rick yelling and I dragged my eyes away from Shane to see him grabbing Lena. “But Shane—”“Shane is dead!”The door was kicked open and my eyes widened when Jake flashed in front of the two to prevent them from escaping. They started fighting each other, tearing the house down. “Are you alright?”Kohen asked when he appeared before me. He stared at me, his eyes wandering all over my face and body. I saw how an emotion quickly flashed on his face before it disappeared. He clenched his jaw and wiped the blood from the corner of my mouth.“They covered their tracks and your scent. Fortunately for us, the

The Unexpected CaptorsElowen's POVI was blindfolded so I couldn't see anything but pure darkness. I was surrounded by voices just like in my dream. So it was a vision and not just a nightmare after all. And I was a victim of my own vision. Where are Kohen and Jake? Are they safe somewhere? God, I won't be able to forgive myself if I caused their demise or if they are hurt because of me. Before they dragged me somewhere, I heard one of them saying that they were only doing their job. Were they hired by someone to hurt me? Was it Olga or perhaps the queen? Maybe she took this as a chance to get rid of me once and for all. I don't know where I was. I don't know where Kohen and Jake were. I was held captive by a group of cold blooded murderers. Maybe this is really the end. I winced when the blindfold was roughly removed from my eyes. I shut my eyes tight when the light hurt my eyes a little. My hands and feet weren't tied. Maybe because they knew I wouldn't be able to run away any

Another VisionElowen's POV I had a nightmare that night. I dreamed about Northleaves, but everything turned to pure chaos. Houses were burning, dead bodies lay on the ground. Families lay lifeless on top of each other. And in the middle of the chaos were four people, but I couldn't make out their faces, only their mouths. They were looking at the dead people around them with a sick grin on their faces. I looked around and searched for Kohen and Jake to ask for help, but I was completely devastated when I saw them imprisoned inside a glass box. They were trying to break the glass. They were screaming something at me but I couldn't hear their voices. They couldn't do anything. In a flash, the four were suddenly around me, surrounding me with a murderous aura radiating from them. “They can't help you now.”One of them said, and strangely enough, I could make out a gun strapped on his holster. “You should have left when you were told to.”A female voice said, and I could smell the

The First SuspectElowen's POVThankfully, there was no one inside by the time the fire department arrived. We've received the same look the police officers gave us earlier, as if they were blaming us for what happened. Someone even said that our appearance will just cause things to escalate. “The more they try to drive us away, the more I want to stay here and find those mongrels.”Kohen doesn't look angry or frustrated. He looked annoyed and interested at the same time. “Let's find out who's the cat and who are the rats.”He said with a wide grin on his face and we proceeded to the next house. As expected, the woman named Avery refused to entertain us, not because she's suspicious, but because she's probably heard about what happened. “I don't want those people to come at me. Please, I know it's hell around here, but you guys are only making it worse.”She pleaded and I could hear her breathing shakily and whimpering in fear. “Avery, we are here to help.”I tried convincing her,

Searching For the PerpetratorsElowen's POVWe left a traumatized family behind to investigate and search for the owner of the blood. Kohen compensated them for the broken window, but I don't think it's the least of their problems. “You are not to leave my side, do you hear me? Stay where I can see you.”Kohen said firmly as we walked around. ‘As if I will be stupid enough to be on my own.’I answered in my head but nodded instead. “Yes, your highness.”I held onto the strap of the bag I was carrying. It contains all the files of the townspeople that Kohen asked for. I think because we can't gather everyone, he's planning to visit some of them instead. “Well, the thing is, the scent is everywhere. Those fuckers are playing with us.”Jake said, as he was the one tracking the scent. “Good thing they don't know that I've got one of the best trackers in the world, huh?”Kohen smirked and Jake only snorted. Everyone must have already heard what happened because I barely see anyone around

Let's Save This TownElowen's POV Kohen had a scowl on his face when we left to visit the old woman's house and find out more about what's happening in this town. Because it's morning, there are few people walking around and some cars are passing by, probably to go to work. I guess there are fewer crimes in daylight. I saw some children playing outside their home with their parents looking after them. When they saw us, they seemed anxious and hostile. Some even took their children inside. “They are living in fear. Poor them.”I muttered and sighed deeply. “They saw your face and they went running.”Kohen mocked me and I only scoffed at him. I could have sworn I heard Jake chuckling but he had that usual stoic expression on his face when I turned to look at him. “I understand why they are cautious. You said the killers are possibly living among them. Acting like a human, and even probably talking to them.”“This is her house.”Jake said behind us and we stopped in front of a bungal
