Chapter 3: Runaway

last update Last Updated: 2023-08-28 16:27:43

I need to leave now. If I were the Alpha's daughter, I might even consider going to the palace as the king's breeder for the family’s glory but not now, as an omega, I have nothing to do with this matter, my mate just rejected me. Why do they have to sacrifice me?

I might be a slave but I still own myself. I slowly backed away and ran to my room. I know the King, Stella was right. After he lost his mate a few years ago, he became more aggressive. I heard he killed the maid attending to him after she said something he didn’t like.

He can kill someone whenever he likes. I have not seen him in person but the rumors said he had the looks of a monster.

I packed my things and hurried out of my room. I only had a little time to escape since they were still occupied with the news from the palace.

I went through the back door so that only a few people could see me. I immediately ran into the forest behind the pack house.

It's very dark outside, but because of my night vision, I can still see in the dark. I just keep running because I know, they will eventually find out that I am no longer in the pack house.

If only I had known that Stella hated me this much, I wouldn't have stayed here. But I can't go to the palace either. Stella wants me to go there to be killed.

She knows the king's temper, the moment he finds out I'm not supposed to be there, he'll cut my head off.

I held my things tightly while running. But gradually I slowed down because of. I'm still too weak because of the rejection earlier.

I decided to stop and rest for a while. I sat under a tree and leaned against it.

I closed my eyes and took a deep breath. I hope they don't look for me anymore, I hope they let me go.

I immediately opened my eyes when I heard footsteps. I was alerted and immediately looked around.

From not far away, I could see a group of werewolves. One of them is James. My eyes widened and immediately stood up.

I started running again. I was expecting it but I didn't expect them to find me this quickly.

For one moment, I thought about shifting. But then Celine warned, “You will strain yourself. You haven’t recovered.”

"There she is!" A man shouted. I ran faster. No, they can't catch me.

No matter what I do to escape, they are faster than me. Someone grabbed my hand and pulled me closer, harshly.

"You can't escape, Aria. Just come back with us if you don't want to get hurt." I still struggled in his grip.

He tightened his grip, "Listen to me, Aria. I might reject you, but I still care for you," I immediately looked at him.

Care for me? Who is he fooling? Of them all, he was the worst.

"Stop it, James. Please, just let me go. I don't want to go back to that place. If you really care for me, let me go. Let me run away," He shook his head several times.

"I can't so come with us. We'll talk about it at the pack house," he said.

Is there anything else I can do? Why am I so weak? I stopped struggling.

"Escaping won't help, Aria. You know my father and sister. They won't let you go," I know.

I looked straight into his eyes, "Just kill me now, then."

He shook his head again, "I can't. They need you," of course. They need me to sacrifice.

I sighed in defeat, “Okay then. Just take me back,” He nodded. He let the warriors take me back to the pack house. The Alpha and other members of the pack are waiting outside.

Stella released a firm slap on my cheek, making me cough with blood.

“How dare you run away, bitch?! After we gave you a place to stay? Feed you?!”

I just laughed without emotion at what he said—sheltered me? Food? I'm working hard to get all of that here.

"That's enough Stella," Her father stopped her.

"But she escaped! No one can leave this place without your consent Father. She disrespects you; she deserves to be punished," why she's like that?

"I know but we need her to replace you."

"Yeah right."

"Why did you run away, Aria?" The alpha asked me calmly. I bowed and knelt, "I'm begging, alpha. Please don't send me to the palace."

He just stared at me, suggesting, "Why? You don't want to have a luxurious life? I'm sure the king will give you that," I don't need wealth if I just die after I get there.

I shook my head, "Please alpha. Don't sacrifice me."

"She's right dad. She can't go there to replace Stella. I'm sure the king will know that she doesn't have Alpha or Beta blood. What if she just stays here and serves me? Let Karen go instead of her," James’ words made me look at him.

His sister looks at him in disbelief. Karen was extremely shocked. "Why me? Gosh, James. I'm your girlfriend. Why are you sending me there?!"

"What? Aside from my sister, there is no lady with Alpha and Beta blood except you," he answered.

"James! How could you say that to my best friend? You were with her earlier, doing some nasty thing. You even rejected Aria. And now, you want Karen to go?!" Stella said in disbelief.

James looked at his father who was just listening to them. "Father, hear me out. We really can't send Aria there. If we do that, by the time the king finds out that she doesn't have alpha or beta blood, we will be punished."

The alpha nodded, "Sounds reasonable enough. But I can't make a decision right now. Keep her in the dungeon while I think about what could happen to her," after he said that, he looked at me.

"You're something else, Aria." He whispered before entering the pack house. Stella and Karen gave me a sharp look.

"Call yourself lucky tonight, bitch!"

The warriors grabbed both my arms and made me stand up. They dragged me towards the dungeon.

They locked me in a dark place, I was alone. I sighed and sat on the floor. This is what always happens to me. Got locked, tortured and suffering.

I let out a sigh, I'm praying that my destiny will change soon.

ARIAFor months I stayed inside fearing to come outside. Not because of my bulging belly I couldn't hide anymore but because of the accusations. The rumour of Aaliya’s child loss and the king's first heir had spread like wildfire.Aaliya had spiralled into madness after losing her baby. She became angry, blaming both Zavier and I for her loss and deep down, I bore the guilt. The first and last time I visited her, she had lost control. Her once-beautiful features were twisted with grief and rage. “You took everything from me!” She had screamed, snatching a pair of scissors from her drawer.I ran back, dodging her and pleading with her. “Please don't Aaliya, I'm sorry.”“If you hadn't run off he wouldn't have come after you and my child would have still been alive. That's all you wanted isn't it? You get pregnant and I lose mine.”She had thrown the scissors but Artemis had come just in time to get me out of there. Aaliya had been taken to the clinic and it was suggested that it was be

ARIAAt the first light of dawn, I moved quickly through the palace, my heart pounding in her chest as I kept looking behind my shoulders. The air was cold, the kind that clung to your skin and made you feel alive. I had secured a few of my belongings under my cloak and the pressure made it difficult to walk but I didn't stop. Not this time.“My lady,” One of the guards called, causing me to halt in my footsteps. How did they camouflage in the dark cause I could swear I saw no one.“Flynn,” I say, turning around with a fake smile plastered on my face.He stepped out of the dark, his Armour glistening in the moonlight as he took a bow.“You dropped this,” he said and gestured to the pink scarf in his hands. Oh shit! He must've seen it fall from under my clothes.“Thank you,” I said nervously as I gingerly took it from him. “I barely even realised.“Where are you headed so early my Lady? The palace is still asleep,” he said, eyeing me suspiciously.“I want to take sparkles for a race an

ARIA Panic surged through my veins, my body going cold despite the warmth of the atmosphere and the heat of his gaze on me.“Why didn't you tell me about the child, ARIA?” He demanded, his voice low but dangerous. My eyes widened and my breath hitched in my throat. How did he know? Who had told him, could it be Artemis? No– I was in the damn clinic. The doctor must have had me tested. My mind screamed for me to run, to get away from him and everyone but rather I couldn't move. Couldn't speak.“Answer me! “ He growled, his voice growing impatient by the minute.“I… I don't—” I stammered, taking a shaky step backward but my legs felt heavy and slow like I was trying to walk through quick sand. Before I could move again, his hand shot out, grabbing my wrist firmly and pinning me against the wall. His hold wasn't painful, but it was enough to stop me and make me feel trapped. “Don't lie to me Aria,” he warned, an edge of pain to his voice. “Don't you dare lie to me.You're carrying my c

ZAVIERFor weeks, I tried to adjust to the changes around me. Aria barely had dinner or breakfast with me. She was always reserved, and I barely caught a glimpse of her. Aaliya had made me bring most of her things to my room because she needed my attention and believed it formed a bond with the baby. I was exhausted by her constant presence, but all I wanted was for her to have the baby, nurse him for three months, and then I’d pay her off to leave.I missed Aria terribly. She never came out of her room, and when she did, it was only for brief moments. I saw her from afar sometimes, but often, she seemed to disappear entirely. The palace felt empty without her presence. The betas, who used to be lively and engaging, had become more quiet and reserved since Irish left. They barely told me things or joked with me anymore. I considered bringing Irish back, knowing she always made Aria happy and that would please the betas. One morning, while having breakfast with Aaliya and my betas, Ari

ARIAWhen I woke up, a shadow loomed over me. Startled, I jerked up to see Artemis towering above my bed. "Get off!" I yelled, and she jumped back, her eyes wide with fear."Sorry! I was just—" she stammered."What were you doing?" I demanded, sitting up fully."I was checking your temperature," she explained, trying to compose herself."Why?" I narrowed my eyes. "Are you gay or something? Look, I’m not homophobic, but I’m not interested in women.”Artemis burst out laughing. "No, no. I was genuinely checking your temperature. You seemed unwell.”I frowned. "I caught you staring at my lips."She took a deep breath and stared at me. "Why were you drinking last night, Aria?”I threw my hands up in exasperation. "Why is everyone trying to be my parent? And did you forget the rules? Stay out of my business.”"Drinking is unhealthy for you," she replied calmly. "You need to be careful, especially now that you’re early.”"Early?" I repeated, confusion clouding my mind. "What do you mean by

THIRD PERSON POVAria woke up to an empty room. Artemis was gone for now, and for that, she felt a wave of relief. It wasn’t that she hated her, but she couldn’t get used to someone new. She relished the solitude for a moment before deciding to start her day. After a quick shower, she realized most of her clothes were still in Zavier’s room. With a sigh, she wrapped herself in a robe, letting her dripping wet hair rest on her shoulders, creating a messy trail down her back. She called for her maid, Beatrix.Beatrix entered the room with a smile. "Good morning, my lady. What do you need?”"I need you to get my things from Zavier’s room. Most of my dresses are at his and my undergarments too," Aria said, trying to sound casual.Beatrix paused, her smile faltering. "Okay my lady. Are you coming for the event today, my lady?”Aria raised an eyebrow. "What event?”Beatrix looked at her, a little confused. "The celebration for the king’s expected child.”Aria felt a chill run down her spine
