I swiped my hand across his chest, leaving four deep claw marks over his chest to which he immediately let out a cry. His wounds began to bleed out and then slowly, so slowly, it began to heal.

I made eye contact with him. Pale and sweaty, he glared at me with as much hatred as he could. We hadn’t even begun but he was already throwing glares at me.

Swiping at the remaining part of his shirt, I tore it away from his top body, not wanting anything to stand in the way of the next process. He’d be lucky if I didn’t get to his back; that is if he died in this process, of course.

“You can’t heal flesh if you don’t have any,” I said darkly, humor thick in my wild-like voice.

The beast enjoyed it.

He reached out and dug his claws in the top part of Jack’s left shoulder, ignoring the boy’s cry and cutting out the shape of a square on both of his sides. Looking at Jack deeply in the eyes, the beast put his claws under Jack’s skin before it could begin to heal, and pulled downward, yanking the
