Sharona POV:

Mel arrogance still lingers in the air. I resist the urge to sneer. Stepping closer, my voice dipping into something softer, something more dangerous.

"The Veil of Balance is not some tale," I say, my finger tracing the ancient runes embroidered into my cloak. "It is the threshold between this world and the next, where life and death intertwine."

"Okay," Mel asks crossing her arms, "what does this have to do with Alessia?"

I let out a quiet laughter."Everything!"

Moving closer, I lower my voice as if sharing a secret with the shadows. "When Lykaon came to Veronique, he was not the proud Alpha your kind remembers and paint him as. He was a broken beast, desperate, drowning in the blood of his own kin. In despair, he begged her to lift Zeus's Curse."

I pause, watching Mel's reaction. Her lips part slightly, but she remains silent.

"Veronique could not undo the will of a god, but she promise to alter it," I continue. "She offered Lykaon a choice. She could lessen his suffer

  • The Lycan's Curse - His Hybrid Mate    Chapter Seventy-Three: Resentment (You're My Legacy Olivia)

Olivia POV:The moonlight is too bright tonight. It makes it harder to hide. Harder to lie.I press myself deeper into the shadows behind the barracks, the rough stone bitting into my spine. My pulse flutters in my throat, every beat echoing louder than it should - because I know what I saw.Because Raven saw me.The boy from Greenwood - what was his name again - Ah, Mishael - his lips still swollen from our hot night, is long gone now - slipped back to his post with the stupid smirk of someone who just had a first kiss with his crush. Maybe it is, to him.I sigh.Raven had'nt say a word. She hadn't needed to. The way her eyes cut through me as she passes - unflinching, cold, knowing - that is enough. And I know. I know my time is thinning.Just like the seals.I run a hand through my hair, fingers trembling. I

  • The Lycan's Curse - His Hybrid Mate    Chapter Seventy-Two: Torn

Raven POV:I break into a run - swift, silent, gliding through the undergrowth and shadow as if the woods were made for me. The journal thumps lightly against my chest beneath the cloak. The marks in it are fading, and I don't know how long they'll holdThe forest shifts as I move - greener older. Lush.No wonder it is named Greenwoods.Ryel waits for me beyond the clearing, seated near the broken alter stone. A fire crackles low beside him, it flames blue and strange, licking the air with silent hunger. He doesn't look up as I approach. He speaks."You found it."His voice is calm, but there's that low undertow in it - like something ancient beneath still water. It always makes me uneasy, and maybe that's part of why I follow him. You don't follow the tame ones. You follow the ones who make your instincts lean in.I

  • The Lycan's Curse - His Hybrid Mate    Chapter Seventy-One: The Vault

Raven POV:The wind shifts as I move through the trees - slow, silent, deliberate. They don't near me.Our wolves just stare, watching from a safe distance like they always do. Years in this pack and they still haven't accepted me. Not really. Not fully.Because I am different. Because I'm not a wolf and I never want to be. Maybe I stopped wanting to be long ago.And my kind... well, we've never exactly been friends with wolves from centuries.More like old enemies."The Alpha requests you all stay low. Don't do anything rash," I say, my voice clipped and cold. They nod. They always do.They don't have a choice. They have to tolerate me. Because I'm the Alpha's favorite, in their words - 'The Alpha's beloved pup.' That's what they whisper when they think I can't hear.&

  • The Lycan's Curse - His Hybrid Mate    Chapter Seventy: Ulterior Motives

Derek POV:The last of the pyres has caught flame, the smoke rising slow and sacred into dawn. Alessia stands with the warriors now, sleeves rolled back, hands smeared with ash and soot like some mourning goddess made flesh. She doesn't see me watching her. She's too busy holding the pack together piece by piece. But I see everything.Including him.Ryel.He's moving too smoothly. Too purposefully. Like a wolf who's memorized the shape of the hunt. I saw how close he got to Alessia - too close. How he spoke with her like an equal, or worse, like a suitor. He's testing the cracks. Looking for leverage. And she let him. For a moment, she let him. That's what twisted the knife.I don't like it.Mason, my wolf, growls low and deep inside me, a rumble of primal possession and warning. My muscles coil with it.Easy boy! I b

  • The Lycan's Curse - His Hybrid Mate    Chapter Sixty-Nine: Nightfall

Ryel POV:The scent of the burning ash fills the air, thick and cloying. I exhale softly, the wind tugging at the edges of my cloak as I step away from the last corpse, lips still tinged with the final syllables of prayer I no longer believe in.I breathe in the ash-laced air again, this time, letting it settle in my lungs like an offering. Death has always been a better prophet than life. And today, it sings in silence.I watch as the Greenwoods wolves circle the pyres, sending off their deads. A sacred farewell. If only they knew the gods and goddess forgets us. It's time we rebuild the world ourselves.I sign.Fools.Build your pyres to my advantage. They're burial markers, yes, but also seals. My seal. Their doom.My boots crunch softly against blackened earth as I walk away from the crowd. Alessia's voice s

  • The Lycan's Curse - His Hybrid Mate    Chapter Sixty-Eight: Pyres For Our Dead

Derek POV:The dawn bleeds slowly across the sky, soft light kissing the broken remnants of the battlefield. I feel so tired. Exhausted. But watching Alessia stand besides me, her fingers still woven through mine, but her gaze is distant. Haunted. Watching as Ryel and his wolves move with reverence through the ashes of our fallen. Watching them like she's trying to understand something even she can't name. And I feel it too - that quiet thrums beneath the earth. The battle is over, yes, but war... war never truly ends. It just changes shape.Ryel's wolves spread through the remnants of the fortress like silent ghosts. Respectful. Too respectful.Something about their grace is too rehearsed.Too perfect."You don't trust them," Darren mutters, stepping to my side. His voice low enough not to carry.I glance at him. "Neither do you."
