Raven’s golden eyes blazes as she squared off with Ryel, lightning crackling faintly at her fingertips.

"Is this how you treat the one who raised you?" Ryel snarls.

"You killed her!" she screams. "You killed Olivia!"

Ryel only laughs, dark and hollow. "No, Raven. I saved her. Her essence was a worthy sacrifice for this cause. She was chosen. History will remember her as part of a rebirth that transcends death."

Raven’s face twists in fury. "You sick, delusional psychopath. I’m going to kill you."

She lunges.

Alessia moves to help, but Cyre grabs her arm. "No. This is her fight. We have to trust her. Meanwhile, the veil—" she points to the seething rift behind Ryel, light bleeding from it, pulling reality inward. "We need to close it. If it stays open much longer, it’ll consume the world."
