Vincent's POV

"We need to tighten our security around the eastern borders. The number of rogues walking freely on that side is quite alarming," Brent's voice sounds in my ears, but I can't make sense of it; something else has captured my attention.

Her scent.

She is close, I know it, the scent is getting stronger. I turn to the door and see her waiting for me to notice her. She looks comfortable with packs of snacks by her side. I know she has started the book I got her this morning.

She waves at me, and then I wave back at her. Her smile is so contagious that I find myself smiling back at her. With that, she skips down the hallway with a smile. I watch her go until she disappears from my sight.

"I know you're in love, but you need to focus," Brent whispers.

"You're just jealous," I reply with a laugh.

"Yeah, I am," he says, laughing.

She manages to make me laugh every damn time.

Something in the room shifts; some of our warriors are smiling, some are laughing at our conversation, whi

  • The Lycan's Gold Digger Wife    THE REBIRTH

Lacy's POV Hearing the part where Zella was locked up in the hotel room, the memories flood back into my head. I remember everything until the moment I died and encountered Aragon. I understand and agree that Ronan, Lizzie, Carina, and Valour have to pay for taking everything that belonged to me and causing my death. I want to jump on it right away and release myself to be reborn fifteen years back as my old self, Zella. But what about the life I have built as Lacy? The fact that I have been living another person's life all this time is a pain in my bones. If I had chosen right, I wouldn't have met Vincent, Celeste, or anyone who caused me pain in my current life. "It's not as easy as you think again," I begin. Aragon and Zella exchange glances. "I understand that look. Revenge is the sweetest thing to my ears right now, but I have built a life as Lacy. I wouldn't say I truly enjoyed my life as Lacy until now, but some things will hold me back from choosing to return to my old self

  • The Lycan's Gold Digger Wife    ZELLA'S PAST II

(FLASHBACK) Zella's POV It wasn't long before my hopes were shattered because Dave walked into the church, accompanied by his groomsmen. He was the groom. He should think I was the bride shouldn't he? Maybe the stunt was pulled by my mother because she had already shown me that she had no love for me whatsoever. I didn't even believe I was a Midnight by birth because how could a mother treat her biological child like that? Dave was my only hope. I expected him to put an end to the madness that was being displayed. I ran to him. "Dave, please tell them you're getting married to me. Tell them you are in love with me and not Lizzie. We planned this wedding Dave, you're supposed to be getting married to me and not Lizzie." I held Dave's hands so tight that they turned red. "That's enough Zella! You've done enough. You have to leave now, and let your daughter marry in peace." Mother interrupted, preventing Dave from giving me an answer. I still held on to his hands, waiting for an ans

  • The Lycan's Gold Digger Wife    ZELLA'S PAST

(FLASHBACK) Zella's POV It was on a beautiful Saturday morning. A day I had anticipated for a long time. I was to get married to the love of my life, whom we had been engaged to since I was fifteen. I grew to love him and he did the same. Though I sometimes felt like I was the one who loved him more. Finally, we were getting married. I was twenty-five years old, and by that time I had successfully made myself a billionaire and, of course, made my father one too. You wonder how that could be possible? I happened to be a blessed lady when it came to business, and at a very young age, I had secured my place in the business world with my perfume company. My only best friend and maid, Piper was the one I appointed to do my makeup and prepare me for the wedding. I trusted her more than anyone, and I didn't have friends. Most of the ladies in my cycle were golddiggers in friends' form. So I didn't get too close to any of them. Piper had been preparing me for the wedding. "Ma'am, Zella,

  • The Lycan's Gold Digger Wife    THE CROSSROAD II

Lacy's POV "Aragon is a mischievous god known as the god of crossroads. I haven't seen him before. But I have read about him in books and even heard from people who had encountered him. He had lived for thousands of years, yet he doesn't appear to age, according to what I have read about him. He oversees life transitions, such as birth, death, fate, and personal choices. My grandma said he appears to anyone who dies with an unresolved destiny and offers paths." Martha goes on and on in explaining who this Aragon guy is. But honestly, I don't see a connection in everything she has said. It doesn't relate in any way to the strange dreams I have been having, nor does it explain a bit about the voice in my head. "You seem to understand everything the seer said back there. Why don't you explain to me in clear English instead of boring me with fantasies you read from your novel?" I push. "Ma'am Lacy, I can't explain to you because I don't know who or which you are exactly. I'm just

  • The Lycan's Gold Digger Wife    THE CROSSROAD I

Lacy's POV Honestly, I don't know what to call myself right now. "A fool, who will eventually end up like me if care is not taken." There goes that voice again. And yes, she's right. But I ignore her. How do I explain the fact that I didn't think twice before granting Vincent's request after all he had done to me and after the clear warning of the voice? "On one condition," I had replied when he asked for my blood. "What? Ask for anything and it's yours." Vincent's surprised words. He didn't expect the process to be as simple as that. "Maria's freedom." The stupid words came out of my mind. He was shocked at my request. "Maria? Your former maid?" "Yes. That Maria. I want her to go back to town with me." I replied. "Consider it done!" He declared. What was I thinking? Maria is not even related to me. Is my blood not too heavy as a sacrifice for her freedom? Maria had mentioned in one of our phone conversations how badly she wanted out of all the dramas in Vincent's Palace. I

  • The Lycan's Gold Digger Wife    JUSTICE

Lacy's POV There have been a lot of changes around here, but the rage in me didn't permit me to take it in. The palace is strangely quiet unlike how it used to buzz when I was here. Brent looks lean and pale and I guess it's from the stress of searching for Vincent. His six-pack, I'm sure, would have reduced to four with the way they look in his clothes. Vincent is in a wheelchair, and a part of his legs has swollen with a tiny wound on it. This couldn't be a snake bite. No. Rather, he looks like he looked back then when he almost died from the deadly thing that was injected into him. Has he been injected with another deadly vaccine? The thoughts play through my head until Martha comes in with Anna. She looks pale and starved. Maria made us understand that she was declared missing after being released from the dungeon by Vincent's mother and Celeste. I had wondered what they had done to her but thank heavens she's safe. I don't miss Martha's relief as she escorts her into the me
