“Vile creature of Sin, when will you croak?” That’s what they called me. The only question they ever asked me ever since I could remember. And I remember a lot. From the moment I entered this world, I knew I was different. How? I wasn’t born normal. I came out of my mother’s womb in the form of a beast with red eyes and red-blue fur. I was covered in blood, but my fur wasn’t slick with the liquid. No. It stood up like the spikes of a porcupine, and drained every last drop of blood my mother shed to give birth to me. As if that wasn’t enough, I even grabbed my umbilical cord and ate it before the eyes of the midwife. Obviously, she didn’t live to see the next sunrise to tell the tale. My father strangled her to death before she could scream in horror. From then, I was called ‘Vile Creature of Sin.’ My mother grabbed me by the neck and dragged my father and two siblings to the mass grave to bury me alive. I somehow knew their intention. Their disgust and revulsion washed ov
One second, she was seducing me with her ragged breathing. The next, she was croaking like a fish on dry land. I rested my chin on the shoulder of the woman beneath me, awfully aware of every part where our bodies touched, every beat our hearts shared, without meaning to. “Have you had enough?” I whispered, hoping she hadn’t noticed the catch in my breath. Her fresh rainwater and evergreen scent was bewildering. Every second I spent on top of her, I was finding it hard not to take her there and then. “Einas, mark her! She’s our mate!” My horny wolf pushed me with agitation, more than desperate to rip her clothes and cover her in his scent. “Fuck off, Jalal! She’s Idris’s wife!” Completely put off by the fact he was pushing me to not only betray Idris, but Caira as well, I snarled at him and cut off the link between us. Then I focused my attention back on the she-wolf. She hadn’t answered my question yet, so I raised my head to look in her eyes and found her pale as a corpse. Pani
I stiffened at the sound of her voice and turned my head, narrowing my eyes on her. The female who gave birth to me. “My wife is not weak. Stubborn, yes. But not weak.” I retorted in a flat tone. Nazia Owaib frowned, her face frosting in displeasure. “Idris, I’m your mother. Watch yourself when you talk to me.” She ordered. “Heh.” I sneered coldly and ignored her, turning my focus back to my wife. She called herself my mother, but I never felt any motherly affection from her. This woman focused all her attention and energy on competing with the mistress of her husband, Eira Haris. There was a time where I once pitied her, hated Einas’s mother as much as she did. I blamed the mother and son for the rift in my parents’ relationship, the coldness and indifference with which the Lycan Leader treated my mother. However, that was a long time ago. A time when I still had hope of seeing the Lycan Leader and his Luna happy together. Of them finally acknowledging my presence and giving me
Prickling tingles erupted on my neck, reminding me of the scene from yesterday. He hit me. For a stinky she-wolf who didn’t even give a damn about him, he insulted and threatened me. What did that whore have that I lacked for him to trample on my heart and self-esteem? Yes, I always knew what we had wouldn’t last long. He made that clear from day one. However, even when I knew, I couldn’t stop myself from loving him. Einas was a year older than Idris. He commanded the military force of the clan and was the strongest Lycan in the Pacific Sea known to date. Like his brother, he was also devilishly handsome. However, when compared to Idris, I felt he was lacking something. Idris Raed looked nothing like the other Lycans. He was tall, extremely tall for our kind, with twinkling dark eyes and hair that took after his father and brother. But where the Lycan Leader and the Lycan Commander were muscular, he was lean, in a sexy kind of way. It might be due to the fact that none of his pare
“Father, are we really going to let her out?” “That’s right, husband. That vile creature of sin is an ill omen, a harbinger of misfortune. Since her birth, our pack is plagued by bad luck and illnesses. Do you still want to release her?” “Yes.” “But husband…” “Alright, quiet down. I’m not releasing her to welcome her back into our lives. I made a deal with the Vampire Lord on the Canadian and US border. Very soon, we’ll be rid of this scourge for a hefty sum.” … I groaned and sat up with a pounding headache. When I opened my eyes to a suffocating hall of tension, my breath caught in my throat. “Saira, you’re awake…” I held up my palm as I sat up, stopping Idris Raed from helping me. “Water.” I croaked.“Yes, just a second.” Filling a cup from the glass jar on the table, he perched on the edge of the sofa and kept the loose strands of my hair out of my face as I chugged it down.“Do you want more?” He asked, taking the empty cup and refilling it. I shook my head no, but the bast
Talk about family drama. It seemed there was one in every pack. Or clan. By now, I could tell not everything was hale and merry in this Lycan family. Luna Nazia and Eira Haris didn’t get along. The Lycan Leader turned a deaf ear to their argument, but indicated his favoritism towards his mistress through his lack of action. No female, bedmate of a pack leader or clan, could talk back to the Luna without consequences. Yet, Eira Haris did, and the Lycan Leader didn’t so much as reprimand her. As a rejected mate, I both envied and admired her. This female must have skills to live in the Lycans' den as the mistress of the Lycan Leader. Raed Basil had already mated and marked his true soulmate, and yet, she still remained in his life. This wasn't a task any female, she-wolf or Lycan, could do. It was a war against the mate-bond. However, why was Idris Raed lumping me with his mother? From her patronizing gaze, anyone could tell the woman didn't like me. Or maybe, she was taking out her
My heart began to race at the thought. Calm down, Saira! It will be fine! I shook my head to clear it of the messy thoughts. It wouldn’t do me any good to panic now. I needed my emotions under control and my brain cells working overtime. Distraction and impatience would only lead me to my grave. Now calmer and more relaxed, I ignored Zaria’s mocking jeers for the rest of the stroll back to the mansion. Few clan members dawdled around the areas the ranked members resided. As such, I reached the mansion door without running into anyone. “Hey, hey! Hold up!” As I raised my foot to step into the building, a figure dashed from behind me and threw out his arms to block my path. “What’s wrong? Did I do something to tick you off?” Idris Raed asked, scanning my face with a playful smirk. I frowned. I didn’t notice the bastard had followed me back. “Your face alone is enough to ruin my mood. You don't need to do anything to tick me off.” I retorted, going around him to enter the mansion.
Lycan Town was as loud and boisterous as the humans’ downtown district. The super-malls and restaurants resembled conch shell snails in design. Built out of glass, they occupied about one third of the town. On the other hand, the clubs and hangout spots were in the structures of giant sea creatures. They took up the sides of the larger buildings like vines, adding beauty to the town. Iridescent pink and neon blue radiance reflected off the top of their buildings. Connected in a reef-like cluster, they floated on the surface of the water a hundred feet from the shore. A giant purple mushroom shrouded them all like an umbrella. I had an inkling it was probably some sort of information gathering satellite. As we strolled into the largest mall, I marveled at the fishes swimming beneath my feet. They bobbed against the glass, slushing through fronds of seaweed and corals. Around me, wolves and Lycans of all ranks weaved through the mall on cushioned clams the size of a king-sized bed.
