CHAPTER FIFTEEN

Riley woke up with a languid feeling and a bitter taste in her mouth. She felt so weak and could hardly move her limbs.

She remembered what had happened before she passed out, the shack the beta had left her in was so dirty and disarrayed. When she managed to sit down on the cold floor, a rat ran past her more than once and that frightened Riley to her bones. She hated rodents, she hated her fate and who she was born into.

She wondered if this was how she was going to keep living, with rats and the husky, intoxicating fetid smell of the air. The first signs of weakness came when she tried to stand up, but she couldn’t. An ache raged through her head and her vision became blurry instantly, that was when she fell unconscious.

She sat up on the comfortable bed and groaned, at least she could move now, she thought. The door suddenly swung open and a maid walked in, the moment she saw Riley awake, she turned and left the room.
